We had a great time at Nine Ten. The ambiance is sexy, upscale and gorgeous. We used the valet service, for only $10 you can’t beat it. The area is very busy and it’s a nightmare to park. Service was excellent. The reason I don’t give it higher ratings is that the food other than the desert just has no wow factor. The only thing on the menu I recommend is the brioche caramel truffle donuts. AMAZING!
Food was excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely go again. Made our anniversary special. 😁
We hadn’t been to Nine-Ten before and wanted to try it out for our anniversary dinner. I had requested a special sunset view table on the patio for our special occasion and I was glad they accommodated my request. The setting and view were very nice, overlooking the round pool at the hotel where Nine-Ten is located. We also had a nice peek at the ocean. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with selections. We started with cocktails and weren’t particularly impressed with them—they were overly sweet and didn’t have any complexity. The food was amazing! Great flavors, interesting combinations, and perfectly cooked! The Cacio e pepe was an umami-bomb of deliciousness. The hamachi sashimi had a delicate blend of bright citrus and herbal flavors and—surprisingly—mushrooms. My entree was the duck and it was succulent and rich. My wife had the halibut and she found it to be delicious with a wonderful springtime prep of veggies and herbs. They comped our dessert for our anniversary, so that was another nice touch. Areas of improvement: the Madeira I ordered with dessert was congealed; shared appetizers could be served with a spoon to make them easier to share; consider some background music for the patio area; hire a mixologist and update cocktail recipes to be as interesting as the food.
Great food, great service. So happy lunch is back!
For an upscale restaurant it was definitely worth the price. Everything was great and it was the first nicer restaurants in a long time that really lived up to its reputation. It’s a little formal but we just went in regular attire and there were others who were dressed really casual as well.
Anthony is a fantastic server and had fabulous meal and wine
Thanks to the Nineten team for another great experience! Veronica is probably the best hostess in San Diego! Always helpful and friendly! Chris Russo provided amazing service as always, and of course the food was great as expected. One of our favorite spots in all of San Diego!
Went for lunch. Food was very good and the staff was very friendly. One huge faux pas: the busboy (I guess that’s who he was because he was not our server) brought us the check when my wife was still eating. That was kind of inexcusably perplexing. First off it was impolite, but as a business, how did they know we didn’t want anything else? That pretty much made up our minds, so we didn’t order anything else. Why was the busboy bringing us the check in the first place? I’m hopeful it was just a screwup because we never felt rushed. We ignored that the check was on the table for another 1/2 hour though the server should have seen it and removed it. In all, not a big deal, just odd.
Brunch with dear friends made more enjoyable at Nine-Ten.
Great food, super nice/profesional atmosphere and service. Maybe a little bit overpriced for what it is
Each year on our girls weekend in La Jolla we visit 910. It is our favorite place in La Jolla to dine or have brunch. The service is impeccable and the food a pleasure. The sommelier is fabulous offering pairing suggestions which never disappoint!
Nice food, good services. I like the special lobster salad and the pork belley.
This is our favorite restaurant. It never disappoints. Excellent food, very professional waitstaff, nice ambiance. If you enjoy great food, be sure to order the 'Mercy of the Chef', which is currently not on the menu but can be ordered. It's a 6 course prix fixe dinner, and well worth it.
The food marvelous! Had a hamburger which I rarely do in a restaurant, and it was top notch! Prepared right, and delicious to boot… my birthday friend had a peach barata salad that was superb…One of the few places that serves a top champagne by the glass which I enjoyed immensely…. I am going back for lunch today. Definitely worth it… Toni B
Half off all wine on Wednesdays is an amazing incentive...
Excellent restaurant, good service, excellent wine offer
From previous reviews, we were anticipating a excellent meal filled with delicious food and great service. The reality was more measured: the food was inconsistent (some of it divine like the lamb tartare), but more of it was pedestrian. Our waiter was preoccupied with serving other tables, and based on the amount of wait-staff it did not appear that they were experiencing a shortage of staff. Hopefully these are growing pains that the restaurant is experiencing as they open post-Covid.
We made red reservations way in advance. It was not busy and they sat us by the kitchen. Food was not great and overly priced.
The food was EXCEPTIONAL!!
Service as well
Can’t wait to return!!
Thank you to Chris Russo for his excellent service. As usual, all of our food courses were great. See you again soon!
As we arrive with an online reservation, the hostess approached us with no smile on her face; she wasn´t rude, but surely was cold and distant. In less than two minutes she shows us to our table and immediately a waiter gave us the menu and ask for our drinks. Since it was brunch time we ask for orange juice and water. The menu is not extended, but it is varied and well-balanced, with a mix of Mediterranean dishes, well-known American ones, and international combinations. I have to tell you everything was well described. We ordered the pitaya bowl (mix of fruits, homemade granola, and pitaya sauce), the shakshuka (a Turkish breakfast), and a hamburger. Everything was well served (warm when needed to be), delicious, and with a nice presentation. Ramiro was our waiter, and he was gentle always available. It is pricy, but it worths every penny. It is a must.
The service was impeccable. The ambiance was great. The appetizer was good but the main course was not so great. The halibut was flavorless and the steak was not tender. Taste overall was less than good. Price point was fine had the food been good!
Nice patio dining at a landmark hotel. However the food was, in spite of well seasoning with many interesting ingredients, too rich and too salty. Halibut was too salty and bit over cooked. The recommended wines to pair with halibut and lamb chop were great.
We had breakfast and it was delicious. The stuff is very accommodating and super nice
Caccio Pepe starter delicious!
The duck breast dinner was amazing
Definitely will go again !
Beautiful atmosphere. Delicious food. Great service. Can’t wait to go back!
Having Chris as a waiter and super knowledgeable sommelier was fantastic! His knowledge of the entrees and wines assured one of a wonderful meal … and so it was. Thank you, Nine-Ten. JonR
Had a very enjoyable birthday dinner yesterday at Nine-Ten: lovely food and service. Chris was great with recommendations. So glad we tried the Oishi Oysters and they split the Pork belly starter, loved that. For the Entrees we had the Lamb loin and Duck breast; and finished the meal with the Sorbet and raspberry cheesecake mousse doughnut... so good!
Got a voucher to use the next time as well as my dessert was taken off the bill, what's not to like in that :-)
Overall- loved it and will definitely come back!
The best food in San Diego. Chef Jason Knibb is a master....
Disappointing food experience. Try another spot in La Jolla.
Wonderful food and a very attentive staff.
Most dishes were outstanding, particularly the first courses. Fish dish mains tended to be dry. Particularly liked pork belly, cacio e pepi, and both pasta appetizers. Duck was terrific. Wine list well chosen. Overall, excellent experience. Drawbacks were moderately noise level inside. Also, it was a birthday dinner and rather than offering a small birthday dessert, a card to redeem a dessert on return to the restaurant was offered. Seems a little chintzy, particularly since we were a party of 6 who had cocktails and several wines with dinner.
I always have an amazing meal and service at Nine Ten
It never disappoints!
What bothered me is the runners and busers wearing rubber gloves!
I felt it to be so disgusting!
I work in healthcare and it means their not washing their hands!
They could be taking out the trash and then serving me my food?
Not sure what guidelines the restaurant is following?
Hope they take them off ASAP and wash their hands on a regular basis
Thanks to Greg for his excellent service! We will be back soon.
Great food and atmosphere. Would be 5 stars, except the restaurant was loud. It was hard to hear other people at our table.
Everything was very tasty! I'd go back next time for sure.
Made a reservation for Father’s Day. Parking was pretty tough to find, but luckily they had valet parking:) Food was pretty flavorful and plated nicely. I would definitely recommend this place if you really want to do fine dining.
5*'s should say it all. a great evening dining and eating at Nine-Ten.
look fwd to the next visit. Much better all around than i remember from the past.
For a tasting menu, tell the server you want to be "at the mercy of the chef"! 5 courses, including dessert, and a wine pairing with each course. Amazing!
