We had a wonderful time! Food was fresh and delicious and we loved the ease of not having to decide what to eat. You must make reservations...you won't regret it!
Erin and Dave have made an amazing restaurant that truly makes you feel like you are being invited into their home for one of the best meals of your lives. The food just keeps coming, and you think each new thing is a revelation- because it is.
Get there as soon as you can.
The BYOB aspect only makes the value that much more amazing. These meals could cost so much more and be totally justified. I can’t wait til we go again.
I can’t say enough good things!
A lovey evening with delicious food.
My husband and I were impressed with the hospitality shown to us. We thoroughly enjoyed our family style dinner. Everything was cooked to perfection..Best Arugula Salad we ever had...and the zeppoles served for dessert were excellent. We loved that Nina's is a BYOB. We highly recommend it.
Nina’s was some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had! The menu was preselected, and you can tell how much passion they have for the food they create. We didn’t realize it was a fixed menu ahead of time and were a little apprehensive about what we might get but quickly realized the meal was going to be amazing. The service was incredible - it almost felt like we were guests over for dinner versus customers. Absolutely recommend!
This is sure to be our new favorite place! Erin, with her sweet disposition, takes excellent care of you while giving you plenty of space for a private dinner. The food was scrumptious and plentiful. One of the best values in town to be sure. Loved the ambiance and the music. Could've stayed there all night.
Good food for the price. Pasta was a little over sauced for my taste. Chicken parm and tiramisu were very good.
To summarize, a tremendous experience - pleasant atmosphere, extremely congenial chef/owner, excellent food. A fixed 3 course menu that covers Italian-American restaurant basics with surprising quality and low key style. This is the every day go-to local Italian place I have been looking for since moving to the city. Large portions and reasonable pricing - I look forward to going back often.
The food was both delicious and abundant. Nina’s is low key and relaxing as well. A great value- just bring cash and your own bottle. Will definitely return soon!
An all around great place. Food and service. Owners are great and very attentive and friendly. We will be back!!
Food is great! Menu is fixed (3 courses, definitely enough food!) and reasonably priced. BYOB is a plus. Service is great.
Quaint and delicious, a wonderful little place. We loved our meal and the atmosphere was very romantic.
We celebrated a birthday and engagement at Nina's on February 2. This continues to be our favorite Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. Each dish on the fixed price menu was prepared to perfection. My family talked about our delicious dinner for days.
I'm a bit late posting this review so it reflects a WONDERFUL dinner at Nina's a few months ago (and I've had several great meals there since).
What a wonderful meal and wonderful evening! Three things contributed to it being perfect for a celebration dinner with 11 guests. First was the food - delicious and authentic. Second was the ambience and location - how can you beat a small cozy comfortable restaurant smack in the middle of the Italian market? Finally, the service is great and the owners David and Erin are so welcoming, they treat you like you are guests in their home - entirely focused on making you and your guests have a great meal and great evening.
Because we had a large group, we just had Dave pick the menu and serve it family style, rather than having everyone order off the menu. The meal started off with a few pizzas for the table; followed by delicious salad and wonderful meatbals and stromboli appetizers; on to ravioli, chicken parmigian, and two types of pasta; and ended with tiramisu and zeppole for desert. All the food was delicious. Its a traditional restaurant, so if you are looking for highly innovative and precious nouveau creations, this isn't your destination. But if you love traditional Italian food that made from scratch and with full flavor, this is spot-on.
It was one of my most enjoyable meals and fun evenings for all the reasons I outlined above all contributing - the combination of food, ambience, welcoming atmosphere. There are many outstanding Italian BYOs in Philadelphia, and this little place is right at the top in my book. Finally, this is also an amazing value. We could have easily spent 2x this for a comparable dinner at another Italian BYO, but I don't think we could have beat how nice this was.
I have been here several times and it’s one of my favorite spots in Philadelphia. Very intimate and a great dinner atmosphere.
Excellent food, good people. Husband and wife team do an excellent job making you feel welcome and satisfied.
Awesome experience, absolutely fabulous. Shhh - the word will get out and then it will be too busy....
Lovely setting with lovely owners. Just confused about the menu because on Open table it has a menu with A La Carte items and when we got there it was a tasting menu that was set for everyone. I got the impression that this is the standard set up although will make adjustments for dietary restrictions.
This is my second time at Nina’s and both times have been absolutely incredible. Each course is stunning and unique. I personally love that it’s BYOB, as you can choose your favorite wines to go with dinner. It’s a smaller space, making the dining experience intimate and cozy. My parents are visiting Philly in two weeks and I cannot wait to bring them here!
Delicious homemade italian, served family style. Definitely would go back again.
Excellent Italian food in a comfy, welcoming space. Service and value is wonderful.
Had a delightful dinner with family and friends. The Italian food and service were excellent. I did not realize the restaurant was BYOB but I was able to buy wine a few stores down on the same street
Erin, the owner, was hostess, chef and server. She was simply charming! The decor was warm and inviting, with a pretty Christmas tree set in the corner. The appetizers were great, as was the chicken parm and ravioli entrees. The gnocchi were a little tough, though. The menu is set and is served family style. It is cash only, at $35 per person. There is also a $5.00 corkage fee. All things considered, the night was great fun.
Small, quaint restaurant with amazing food! The raviolis were delicious and the service was great - the cook was also our server so she came out and explained how she made each meal. 3 course menu selection only at 35 per person - definitely worth it for the great food. Highly recommend!
Everything was fantastic! From one dish to the next you could really tell they make everything homemade and daily. Owners are amazing and really make you feel comfortable.
Nina's was lovely. I love the family style concept, the food was delicious and the service was great. Loved it!
This is a very special place (easy to miss in a hidden Italian Market location) that gave us a fully custom lunch celebration for 10. The food was awesome and the service even better. If you want great food and a lovely atmosphere this is a great place. I would highly recommend that you consider this place for celebrations or groups to take advantage of the individual custom menu we received. The owner called us days before to offer selections for a family style meal. This would also be a great way to celebrate a night out with a group of friends. BYOB, too. It was great!
We have been to Nina’s several times and have never been disappointed. Aside from the excellent food, we are always treated so kindly. The owner is lovely and makes us feel so at home. On our recent visit, we ordered the chef’s choice tasting menu. It is a great way to sample several of the delicious dishes on the menu. Each course is freshly prepared and presented with an explanation of how it is made. Looking forward to our next visit.
We were looking for a quite BYOB and we found it! Great food, cozy atmosphere, family style dining. We expected to be able to pick one thing from each category and have it served family style, instead, we were brought a plate of each item on the menu. So much food! It was all delicious! Note: if you don't like garlic, you may want to state that when you sit down. It was extremely affordable - 4 people came to $45 each (incl. tip).
Very good food in cozy atmosphere. Great value and I would definitively return.
Another wonderful meal at Ninas! The food is delicious and very homemade by the owner/chefs who take great care and pride in their cooking. It's all about the food in this cozy little restaurant. We loved the red sauce and the arugula salad and all the pastas that came out in the family style service. Erin and David really do make you feel like you are being served in their home. All in all a lovely dining experience in a great location in Italian Market.
Outstanding. My family and I wanted an authentic homemade Italian restaurant and that is exactly what we got when we went. The family style menu that they serve (which is big portions of each dish from each course) and everything was so fresh and the sauces were so flavorful. Highlights of the meal were.... The meatballs - (we got a bowl of about 6 for the table to share.) The Veal Genovese with fusilli pasta (which was ground up veal in a tomato wine and cream sauce ) and the Chicken cutlets with sautéed spinach.
Everything was delicious and the staff is so accommodating! The place is a bit small so I recommend definitely reserving a table in advance. We will be back soon!
Such a wonderful restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing, along with the service. The owners are amazing and always friendly. I come from an Italian family and this Italian food is fantastic. This is an absolute must.
We did the family style tasting for 4 people. The first course was good. The second course which had two gnocchi dishes was like eating the same dish. The chicken parm was over cooked. Also there's to many other places to eat which don't charge a corking fee.
The food and server were excellent.
The room was lovely, right in the heart of the Italian market.
The food choice, however, was beyond limited. The menu was extremely small to begin with, and many of those items weren't even available.
We heard good things about Nina's and left wondering if it was just a bad night.
Great authentic spot in the heart of the Italian Market.
We got the Family Style menu for our group and it was everything our friends said it would be. The meatballs and Burrata Salad were our favorites of the 1st course and the Chicken Parm and the Gnocchi with smoked bacon and ground beef were our favorites for the 2nd course.
They said they change their family style menu seasonally so it will be nice to try the new dishes our next time back!
My wife and I made reservations at Nina’s Trattoria for dinner after an afternoon orchestra concert. We walked to the Italian Market in South Philadelphia after the concert. The restaurant is located in the heart of the Market on 9th street. Nina’s is a BYOB and cash only; the latter fact is clearly posted on the restaurant’s doorfront. We were quickly greeted by Erin, who together with her husband, co-owns Nina’s. She was also our chef! My wife ordered a special for that evening, a risotto with Gorgonzola and beef. I ordered the tagliarde Bolongese with a side of meatballs. We were provided garlic bread to enjoy with our wine (which was uncorked for a $5 uncorking fee). Both entrees were spectacular. The pasta was fresh and homemade as was the gravy (sauce). The risotto was bursting with fresh flavors and the all beef meatballs were amazing in taste and tenderness. We finished our meal with a wonderful homemade tiramisu and excellent coffee. Our cost was quite reasonable for this terrific meal and we will return.
The food was as authentic as any I have ever had. " A true Gem in Philadelphia's Italian Market area". We will be going back very soon !
My family (wife, 2-troll son and I) had a lovely dinner at Nina's. Friendly service, very tasty, authentic and delicious Italian food. The meatballs were fantastic, my wife's order of bolognese was also soo good.. BYOB so come with your good wine/beer to compliment the excellent food. Parking is abit tough in the Italian market area but well worth the effort to park.
Only small issue was it was abit warm inside but maybe due to the change in weather. Otherwise loved it and can't wait to come back
Everytime I go it is always great! Stellar food. Always good for a date or outing with friends/family.
