They didn't have a table ready in time for my reservation so we had to sit at a bar table, which was kind of loud and crowded. The waiter was very attentive, but the kitchen was a little slow. The food was great, the wine was great and the prices were reasonable.

Really fun & vibrant place. Attractive bar. Straightforward menu with attractive pricing. Great place to go when you want a casual place, couple drinks and appetizers or a salad. Really competent service.

We're from the neighborhood and really want Nik's to succeed. Unfortunately they keep missing the mark. Service is friendly but can be too slow and forgetful (forgot my wine this last time). Bread is too salty and otherwise bland. But the worst are the entrees. The problem is 1) ingredients could be better and 2) sauce is way too heavy (probably trying to cover low quality ingredients). For example, this time my date and I ordered their signature Jalapeño Lime Chicken, and we both thought the chicken tasted rubbery (like from frozen) and was smothered in sauce. Another example, one time a friend ordered eggplant Parmesan and the eggplant had that awful bitter taste it has when it isn't ripe. We wish the 'hood had better Italian!

We had the bruschetta, lasagna, and chicken scallopini. Everything was good. Nothing was great, but no real complaints. Our waitress was nice and attentive. It's a nice option for this area of town.

Decided to give Nik's a 2nd try and it was great. Engaging and friendly service, and delicious food options. Eggplant parmesan was flavorful, as were the meatball sliders. My wife enjoyed her gluten free pasta and my kids loved the dipping sauce for the bread. Kids also enjoyed their entrees too (hamburger and pizza). We'll be headed back!

The Good: They have gluten free options; the owner is friendly and responsive to requests, the place is clean and has a good look to it, the meatball sliders were fantastic, and the ceasar salad was good.

The Bad: Limited wine list, the servers are rushed and non-perceptive, Server didn't explain specials, or Happy Hour (so we missed out), dropped of bread with no explanation of the dipping sauce, Chicken marsala was bland. The chicken was sauteed perfectly, but the sauce was non-existent. I was craving garlic, basil and the sweet taste of marsala wine, but could barely identify any of those ingredients.

Overall we were disappointed. The staff need to improve their interaction with the customers. We may return, but it's unlikely.

Great local find! There were four of us and we all enjoyed our meal. From the menu specialities to the special for the night the good was good! The server was attentive and the atmosphere was nice. A little slow for a Saturday night but that worked to our advantage! Worth giving them a try.

We went on a Friday night with a reservation. Our server did an excellent job, although she was new. We all (4) ate different dishes and we all were very happy with our food. I had noted earlier reviews (after they opened about 6 months ago) had pinged Nik's for poor service. Since our's was so good, I suspect they have fixed that problem. Both the owner and the manager stopped by for a chat. Since we are in the neighborhood, we will definitely return.
