They didn't have a table ready in time for my reservation so we had to sit at a bar table, which was kind of loud and crowded. The waiter was very attentive, but the kitchen was a little slow. The food was great, the wine was great and the prices were reasonable.

Really fun & vibrant place. Attractive bar. Straightforward menu with attractive pricing. Great place to go when you want a casual place, couple drinks and appetizers or a salad. Really competent service.

We're from the neighborhood and really want Nik's to succeed. Unfortunately they keep missing the mark. Service is friendly but can be too slow and forgetful (forgot my wine this last time). Bread is too salty and otherwise bland. But the worst are the entrees. The problem is 1) ingredients could be better and 2) sauce is way too heavy (probably trying to cover low quality ingredients). For example, this time my date and I ordered their signature Jalapeño Lime Chicken, and we both thought the chicken tasted rubbery (like from frozen) and was smothered in sauce. Another example, one time a friend ordered eggplant Parmesan and the eggplant had that awful bitter taste it has when it isn't ripe. We wish the 'hood had better Italian!

We had the bruschetta, lasagna, and chicken scallopini. Everything was good. Nothing was great, but no real complaints. Our waitress was nice and attentive. It's a nice option for this area of town.

Decided to give Nik's a 2nd try and it was great. Engaging and friendly service, and delicious food options. Eggplant parmesan was flavorful, as were the meatball sliders. My wife enjoyed her gluten free pasta and my kids loved the dipping sauce for the bread. Kids also enjoyed their entrees too (hamburger and pizza). We'll be headed back!

The Good: They have gluten free options; the owner is friendly and responsive to requests, the place is clean and has a good look to it, the meatball sliders were fantastic, and the ceasar salad was good.

The Bad: Limited wine list, the servers are rushed and non-perceptive, Server didn't explain specials, or Happy Hour (so we missed out), dropped of bread with no explanation of the dipping sauce, Chicken marsala was bland. The chicken was sauteed perfectly, but the sauce was non-existent. I was craving garlic, basil and the sweet taste of marsala wine, but could barely identify any of those ingredients.

Overall we were disappointed. The staff need to improve their interaction with the customers. We may return, but it's unlikely.

Great local find! There were four of us and we all enjoyed our meal. From the menu specialities to the special for the night the good was good! The server was attentive and the atmosphere was nice. A little slow for a Saturday night but that worked to our advantage! Worth giving them a try.

We went on a Friday night with a reservation. Our server did an excellent job, although she was new. We all (4) ate different dishes and we all were very happy with our food. I had noted earlier reviews (after they opened about 6 months ago) had pinged Nik's for poor service. Since our's was so good, I suspect they have fixed that problem. Both the owner and the manager stopped by for a chat. Since we are in the neighborhood, we will definitely return.

I've had lunch here twice before, so I booked a group of 8 when I needed a birthday dinner destination. Their A/C wasn't working, and their frozen margarita machine wasn't working, but, other than these presumably temporary and unfortunate issues, the service was quite good (probably trying to make up for the A/C) and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the jalepeno lime chicken parmesan and I thought it was excellent. I'll keep returning for lunches!

We love the food at Nik's. We're very picky about Italian food, and this is by far the best we've found in the area.

My husband and I love Italian food. But they can
be very unhealthy with cream sauce dishes. The menu had a lot if cream
sauce dishes. I recommend
mores dishes with marina sauce or olive oil and garlic.
Instead of fried...baked etc.

This was the second time to eat at Nik's. I was disappointed the first time, shortly after they opened, but decided togive them another try. Service was not good. We arrived before another table not far from ours (same waiter and same table size-2)They were served before us..we never received bread and had to ask. We were told it was just coming out of the oven (the other table had it a good 5 minutes earlier)...when he brought the bread it was stone cold. (When you mess up, just apologize and fix the problem. Don't make excuses.)The food is very sweet, including the bread and all dishes. We prefer a savory Italian taste. When we asked for our bill it took 15 min. waiting to pay afterwards . It is a very small restaurant to be so s

The service was so-so. The bread that comes out before the meal was soggy. My hubs had the spaghetti and he said it was okay. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was drowning in oil and way too much garlic. Let's just say I paid for eating that meal the entire night. Most likely, I will not visit Nik's again.

i have tried Nik's twice and both times i left very disappointed. I wanted to like it because i wanted a good Italian resturant nearby but this isn't it. Here are my complaints: they can't seem to decide if they are a bar (big tvs) or a nice italian resturant, food is fair at best, waiters are overly casual wearing what they want with little or no smilling. my waiter constantly reach across the table in front of my friends while they were eating and the table was unubstructed on all sides. the opening to the kitchen is big and the view is distracting. the table next to me sent their food back and all the time i could see the faces and read the body language on the kitchen manager, waiters and cooks - wasn't pretty. Don't go!

This restaurant was recommended by OpenTable. Not impressed. I think somebody needs to do a better job curating which restaurants are recommended to users of this service. I drove way out of my way to go here based on OT's reviews and recommendation to eat a mediocre at best meal. 2 stars only because our waiter was OK most of the time. Dessert was fine.

We have been pleased with Nik's every time we've eaten there and enjoy the food immensely!! I especially appreciate the Gluten Free pasta option which enables me to have dishes I usually can't have. Thanks very much!!

Overall I really like Nik's as the food was really good, the wine list was decent and while small had a good vibrant atmosphere. The one area it really needs to step up on is service. Now granted they are still new and it was their first Valentines night, but the lack of attention paid by the waitress was really bad. It was not the fact that everything was slow getting out to us, it was how many times we had to remind her what we had ordered. It took 30 minutes to get our bottle of wine, 40 before we even got bread, and then she forgot the salad until we reminded her only to get it a minute before the main coarse came out. I am willing to give break for being new and being a really busy night. The food was awesome!!

I had the chicken artichoke/spinach pasta and it was pretty good. However, my partner ordered the "meat" lovers pizza. There was hardly any "meat" on it. Very disappointing.

Happy to have this restaurant close by. Great food - appetizers and entrees. Daughter had lasagna, very good. My husband and I had two specialty entrees that were both very good. Will definitely be back.

Glad to have a quality restaurant in the neighborhood. I had the eggplant, my husband had a pizza, we both enjoyed our dinner. On a previous visit, we had the lemon chicken and the fettachini Alfredo, both dishes were excellent. Would like to see a larger wine selection. be sure to make a reservation, the place was packed.
