Been to this restaurant a few times since it opened. It seems to have declined. The food I’d very average compared to other Peruvian Japanese rest is in Montreal that I have been to over the years. The scallops were up edible. Service was very slow. Not their fault but parking in the area is terrible if you are not a resident of Montreal. I will not be back. There are so many great restaurants in this city but Nikkei is no longer one of them

We were very excited by the fusion concept of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. We went for the tasting menu with wine pairings to really get a feel for what the restaurant was doing. The first two courses arrived together and were delicious. The next were good and the last one was meh - nothing exciting. The staff was really not attentive. Our wine pairing for course 4 arrived and we waited for the accompanying food. About 15 minutes later, our server came back but not with our food - instead she was already bringing the wine for the next food course. Realizing that, she took that pairing back and, after a lengthy delay, sent over our food for course 4. After we finished food and wine for course 4, the food for course 5 arrived but the wine for that pairing never came back. Our last food course arrived with no wine pairing. When they realized what happened they brought us two complementary glasses of red but at that point we had already finished eating the last course and were waiting on dessert, for which red wine wouldn’t work at all as a pairing. Our water wasn't refilled unless we asked. We were there in the evening and our table lamp died. No one noticed. We had a hard time getting the attention of staff back to order dessert and also to get our bill. This was our first time at the restaurant and it may have been an off night on a long weekend. But overall we were disappointed.

C'est toujours un plaisir de redécouvrir le Nikkei. La carte change à chaque fois et les plats sont délicieux, variés et goutus. Bravo au mixolgue qui m'a fait un cocktail selon mes gouts excellent !! Service irréprochable !

So I usually don’t write reviews but I have to say the food was amazing! I went last night for my boyfriend’s birthday and we were both very impressed. We rated everything 8.5 and above. The waiter recommendations were perfect. Service was a little bit slow (it was mother’s day so maybe it was busier than usual) but all the employees were the sweetest and made sure we were good throughout the night.

Lieu atypique de la cuisine fusion japonaise et péruvienne. On voulait un truc inédit pour notre soirée d’anniversaire de mariage! C’était parfait! Personnel génial et qui expliques bien le concept du restaurant… saveurs et goûts inexplorés jusqu’à ce jour! Un régal!
