   THIS IS NOT A RESTAURANT ANYMORE! They are a bar that offers only 3 sushi rolls and 6 cooked appetizers. We were sat at a table (there were only 10 customers total inside), provided water, then after waiting more than 5 minutes for our server we finally stopped the hostess and asked for the food menu, and we were told they changed a few weeks ago and only offer their "best" dishes now. Don't waste your time here.

   This is my second visit to Nikkei. Unfortunately, they no longer serve dinner here and I was not aware of that when I made dinner reservations (yet they were still taken on open table).... Last time I visited the food was awesome. This time, again, everything was great! Good drinks, great atmosphere, and the multiple appetizers we ordered as a substitute for our dinner were all very good. The staff did give us some free appetizers since we came for dinner.

   This food is SO beyond nightclub worthy. They need a ground floor spot for amazing Japanese fare, where upstairs could be a club atmosphere. I LOVED it here. The food and service. Atmosphere was dark and clubby. I AM going back. Please last!

   Interesting blend of Japanese and spicy Peruvian - delicious! The atmosphere was hip and cool - and the rooftop bar outstanding!

   Disappointed in the quality of food for the price. Very expensive for not-so-great sushi. The rooftop bar is great, and would recommend having drinks there only. Service was decent, but we had a gluten problem with one member in our party who is celiac.

   Perfection from beginning to end! From the service... the waiter was so knowledgeable about the restaurant's history, cuisine, menu items...etc. The Sushi was amazing. REcommend the Truffle Hamachi... we could've eaten plates of this! The rolls were all amazing. Especially the one with the shrimp ceviche. so so good. Also recommend the Brazilian Chardonnay. Great value and super buttery!

   Arrived at 11:00AM for Sunday brunch at Nikkei and front doors were locked. Waited till 11:15AM with no response to knocks on door and two unanswered phone calls. Went next door to Coal Vines and had a great brunch (please give Coal Vines a great review!). Left Coal Vines at 12:15PM and the doors to Nikkei were still locked. Unfortunate, because we had a good time at a previous visit and wanted to explore additional menu items. They have unique menu items, but they should unlock their doors. Have no idea if they are permanently closed or were closed just for that day!

    Our bartender stole the night with his charisma! He really treated my girlfriend and I spectacularly the whole night and even continued his great customer service into the upstairs bar, even when his workload ramped up and the bar became hectic. I feel terrible for forgetting his name (Mark..Max??) but he was the tall black guy who converted to bartender later in the night. Kudos to that man for real! A definite recommendation for anyone.
