Nicola's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Our food was superb (as it always is at this restaurant). I had Cioppino and my business associate had the evening’s shrimp risotto special. Both dishes were attractive, served hot, and delicious.
Our waiter was attentive until we finished our meal, but then he ignored us. We had to get up from the table to find him to request our check. Not a major problem, but it was not a good way to finish what was otherwise a remarkable meal.
Had the rigatoni pasta dish which was excellent and good value. Our waitress was older and a little chatty but very sweet. A pretty place with good views of the Christmas lights outside. Bar is good too although when you order a glass of wine and bartender recommends “a good one” check the price first. We had a glass each and the bill with tip was more than dinner. My bad, not theirs...still a very nice place.
Food was not good. I’m surprised this restaurant is Zagat rated. The soup was liked canned soup. The bruschetta was good. The main meal Gnocchi was Not good at all. The presentation was also very poor. I’m not generally critical of restaurants but I’m making an exception in this case. This is my first and last time I will go to this place.
The Fusilli was delightful with just the right blend of flavors, and the Lasagnette, with chicken and artichoke was outstanding. There is definitely a dish for everyone, and the location right across from the Angelika Theatre makes it a perfect dinner-and-a-movie location. Very personal service, and our waitress was quite attentive to details. Perfect night out!
The meal and service were exceptional but was a little disappointed there was nothing special done..Waiter didn't even ask if it was something special. It was our 44th wedding anniversary. Will not go there again for an anniversary dinner.
Nicola’s is one of my favorite restaurants and I always dine here when I visit Plano several times each year. I was so pleased that Veal Piccata has been returned to the menu! I had the carpaccio appetizer and really enjoyed its preparation. Our server was attentive and the manager checked on us as well. Great evening!
I've had previous positive experiences, but not this time. I had a reservation, but was still seated at the worst table in the restaurant... they did move us after I asked... Overall, the server was nice, but the food was definitely not up to the quality it had been on prior visits. Overall, not the best experience I've ever had.
The food and service was fabulous, unfortunately the ambiance if this part of Legacy is being ruined by the loud and obnoxious religious zealots playing loud music and having loud fire and brimstone preachers shouting at the top of their lungs, we won't be returning until The Legacy management sorts this out.
I really enjoyed the food and our server, Dustin, was great! The only thing was the hostess staff. When my boyfriend and I arrived, I informed them that we had a reservation. I was completely blown off. Instead of checking the books, they sat us in the bar area at a tiny table in the corner. Now, I don't know if it was because we are young (20) or because she was new, but, I made a reservation for a reason. I will return, but next time I won't be so complacent. If we aren't honored our reservation, I will be talking to a manager next time.
We booked here for our anniversary dinner. We had a reservation for 2 at 7pm on Saturday night. We arrived at 6:50pm. Upon arrival, we were told that our table choices were either a high top in the bar or outside. I politely inquired if we could have a table in the air conditioned and fairly empty dining room (it was in the mid-80s with little breeze that night). We were told rather curtly that our choice were bar or patio. We chose the patio because my wife is short and high top tables bother her back (since her legs dangle through the whole meal). The patio is next to the main road through the Shops at Legacy so we were treated to loud cars, loud motorcycles, and an endless stream of pedestrians talking loudly. At one point, I was blinded by a car's high beam headlights that had pulled into the valet station while the valets finished whatever conversation they were having with each other.
The food was fine. Mostly unremarkable.
The service was slow and confused. There was an older gentlemen wandering aimlessly around the patio running food from the kitchen. He presented someone else's food to us on more than one occasion. At one point, our server seemed to be engaged with a hushed argument with this older gentleman. Then our server disappeared for about 20 minutes (between clearing the starter and bringing the entree).
Overall, there are better choices in the area.
The food was satisfying. Authentic.
Service was slow. There were only 3 tables when we were there that night. Waiter and waitress stood there chatting, but rarely came over to ask what we need. Our waiter only showed up when he brought our order to the table. We have to wave at him several times to call him to come over. For the after meal dessert, we had to call him to come over and asked him for the menu.
The dessert were good and the coffee was super!
Very disappointing experience. We arrived on time for our reservation and were told it would be 15-20 minutes for a table. After waiting in the bar for 25 minutes we were finally escorted to a table, only to find at least 5-8 tables available and open. When asked why we'd been asked to wait, the hostess said there was a shortage of servers. Our waiter was good, but the food very subpar, much declined since the last time we dined here. Looking around the place, it appears to be having trouble. They were clearly short servers, the entire mezzanine level of the restaurant was closed...not a good sign for a restaurant in Legacy on a hopping Saturday night. Overall very mediocre, would suggest going to one of the many other strong restaurants in the area.
This is one of our Friday night spots. Food was perfectly cooked and our regular waiter remembered our special likes and don't like and remember to ensure our food was cooked exactly as we like it. Special orders do not upset them. And as always the expresso and cappuccino made to perfection
Service started out very slow. Took way too long to have waiter acknowledged us and take our drink order. Bread delivered to the table after nearly 15 minutes. Kitchen was well understaffed impacting service times... very poor speed of service.
Disappointed in the temperature of the red wine served - Pinot Noir at room temperature unacceptable for a $14 pour.
Casa Salad served without a key ingredient - sliced pear - and when asked to correct, we learned that kitchen ran out! Understandable in a Monday but not a Friday.
With so many open tables in the restaurant I would not expect below average service. Tonight was a real disappointment. Even though the food quality was good, this experience was not worth close to the price paid.
We won't be back anytime soon given the other options in the area.
This place looked so cool from the outside. We received great service but the food was terrible! It was so gross. We tried multiple items on the menu and it just keep getting worse! Their pictures looked so good online but it really was a disaster. Will definitely not return.
