The food was excellent. We were seated close to the back side of the bar and it was loud. Now I understand the "request" section on the reservation. I will definitely go again.
Late Valentines Day Dinner. As always, the food and the service were excellent.
Great food as always. Sat too close to kitchen and serving station which was a bit loud. While server was good, the little things like not clearing glasses and plates when done always bothers me. Other than that happy we chose to spend a nice evening with family here.
Food/Service is always phenomenal. Place is overlooked with all the new restaurants in Legacy West and surrounding areas, but Nicola's has been around for a long time and hopefully will continue to sustain over the weaker competition. Quite frankly this is one of the best Italian restaurants in North Dallas. Has so much more depth and flavor than the newer 'plasticy' cuisine in this category.
I met a former client whom I hadn't seen or talked with in over ten years. The way the seats/booths are designed, you can have a discussion without being overheard. The atmosphere was quiet and the décor quite beautiful...and I haven't even mentioned the food. I had the lunch special (I'm a creature of habit) and, as usual, it was delicious. Be sure to try the flatbread--the best I've ever tasted and the vodka cream pasta was perfectly done.
Our waiter was sensitive to our not wanting to rush and appeared at exactly the right times. Thank you, Drini!
Table was ready, service was okay but the food was fantastic! Would definitely go again!
Food, wine selection, and service were outstanding. We had a great Valentine's dinner. Thank you!
Had dinner for Valentines day. Great service.
The food is incredibly flavorful and delicious!
I would say it's not bad, but not a meal that merits that cost
Incredible food and service by Max and his associates!
I always love Nicola's for the food and ambiance, but they totally outdid themselves on my last visit. I asked for a table in quiet section of the restaurant for an important dinner, and we were sat in a section where we were the only table. It was excellent, the food was amazing as always and the service was perfect. The waitress came over just enough so that we never needed anything, but seldom enough that we were able to have a wonderful conversation. Perfect in every way, I couldn't be more thrilled with our choice for dinner.
Nicola’s is one of our favorite spots in the Plano Legacy area. Service is perfect and the food, cooked to order, as Nicola’s works with us regarding our personal preferences, swapping vegetables, sauces, etc to suite our personal tastes. True customer ordering! Huge plus. They make an outstaning Espresso and cappuccino!
Always a wonderful experience when you dine with Nicola’s Ristorante. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. They make you feel as if you are at home. The food always exceeds my expectations.
We went yesterday to celebrate an employee's retirement and they took excellent care of us and made the day very special. Would highly recommend them for any occasion or meal.
Everything about Nicola's is ideal with the clear exception of the lighting which is so poor in the booths that we had to move to a table with better lighting. Improve the lighting and you will have more repeat clientele.
Dined this past friday evening. Service is always outstanding. Staff is friendly and caring, they particularily remember preferences from past visits. We had the salmon special and the veal piccata. Plus we started our dinner off with the fried zucchini which i believe is best in dfw area and on par with up north cities like chicago, new york and pittsburgh. Espresso and decaf cappuccino are also done exceptionally well. Will be dining here often in 2019
The food was tasty and came out quickly. The service was knowledgeable and helpful without being intrusive. Wednesday is a great night to go. Not busy and half price bottles of wine. A very enjoyable evening.
Service was excellent and the food was good... definitely will return. This was a date nite dining experience and it did NOT disappoint!
Good authentic Italian food! The kitchen served a couple of our party member's the incorrect food, but wasn't an issue. They made it up by giving us the correct dish to go at no additional charge. Everything was DELICIOUS! Will definitely be back.
I took my daughter to this restaurant because it used to be a great one...the pasta was watery and food had minimal flavor. Salmon was not fresh- just a bummer. Positive note- the staff was friendly.
Its very disappointing that we made reservations and had to wait 20 minutes for a crappy table.
That defeats the entire point of making a reservation.
Avoid Nicola's Ristorante Italiano at all costs.
Sat us at our table right at our reservation time
Service was pretty much non-existent even though our waitress only had 4 tables with 2-4 people per table.
Had to flag her down 3-4 times before she would take our order.
Iced tea was warm and had no ice.
Told me the wine I wanted was out of stock & bring me something similar to taste. Didn't come back for over 15 minutes and told me what I wanted was in stock and asked if I still wanted it.
Salads took forever to come.
Main course came when we were only half way through our salads.
Food had no taste. I asked for salt 3 times but never got it.
Waitress never once stopped by our table to see if we needed anything or to ask if the food was ok. Guess she knew better.
Kept trying to flag her down for 20 minutes to get the bull. She kept saying "1 minute" but that turned into 20.
Had been a frequent customer up until around four years ago and then had a bad service experience and vowed to never go back. Went in New Years Eve last minute bc only reservations I could get. Took us more than forty five minutes to get our first cocktail, and then only got it after complaining to bartender once (“we’re just slammed, guy” was his response. Manager then brought them himself not not even an “I’m sorry, this round on us.” My friend even commented on how he placed the drink down hard and huffed off. Our server was nice enough, very apologetic. House salad was lame and wilty. Main courses were great. The chicken piccata was and is the best in town and the special risotto with shrimp was great! Service absolutely killed the meal and we won’t be back. They did eventually comp the drinks.
Our daughter has multiple food allergies, including soy and tree nuts, and the staff at Nicola’s is always able to prepare a wonderful meal she enjoys that is free of her food allergens. It is difficult to find a place to dine because unfortunately the use of soy is so prominent in many establishments, so we were so grateful to discover Nicola’s!
Food was good, second course came too fast before we got thru first course which made me feel it was all just pre-made, but overall not bad
For the third time in 8 weeks, wife and I dined at our favorite spot, Nicola’s. The food was amazing, Lizzi our server was great. Max, the manager greeted us at our table, and they made our NYE very special. We will be back!
So disappointing, not at all what it used to be, veal was just like a frozen dinner- seriously, service was poor as well- too bad
Love going to Nicola's. A great place to celebrate a birthday1
Nicola’s is a special place with great food, outstanding service and great location. We had the salmon and veal picatta. Great dinner
MArtini at 15 bucks is crazy for that type of place.
Everything about this review is relative, and the situation should be taken into consideration when using it to decide whether to eat at Nicola's. We've eaten at Nicola's on other occasions, and it would have rated 4.5 to 5 stars. This occasion was Christmas Eve, so you might give the staff a bit of a break for working on the holiday; but it's also Nicola's, so you might expect the experience to be perfect.
The appetizer came out about 7 or 8 minutes later than it should and they didn't delay the entree accordingly, so we'd only gotten one bite of the appetizer down before the meal came. My wife's entree was the chicken lasagna, and was perfect. My entree was chicken alfredo, which was good. These dishes can both be found in equal quality, at restaurants of lower quality, anywhere in town.
Neither of us was offered pepper or cheese to top off the plate. My water glass stayed full, the wine was nice, and we didn't have to wait long for the check. The experience of the meal should leave two people leaving between 1 and 1.5 hours after they arrive; but we were in and out in 45 minutes, which didn't leave us feeling welcome or well served; which one should be able to expect, even on Christmas Eve, at Nicola's. It seemed hurried and clumsy, and that's probably a symptom of the timing. We'll definitely be returning to Nicola's, but not for Christmas Eve.
I wish the restaurant has kids menu as my 4 year old loves the ambiance of the restaurant.
Great food and the service is always awesome.
Excellent wine list.
Just the right amount of service.
Nice valet service touch.
We just keep coming back. And so will you.
Had the Veal Parmigiana and a bottle of Malbec. The wine was a suggestion from the bar. Both the food and wine were amazing. The service and dining experience is why I will always return to Nicola’s. Kudos to Max and his staff!
restaurant was not so busy yet we got a table right in front of the kitchen. wish we had a better table. food was pretty good and so was the dessert.
Excellent all around
Nicola’s is one of our favorite dining spots. Service is great, wait staff, friendly, courteous, with great memory of your previous dining preferences. Great spot for a night out of dinig at your pace, no rushing you but also if you are in a rush, they can accomodate you without compromising food quality or service.
Great place to eat lunch -- fair price for a nice Italian bento box kind of meal.
