The food and service were impeccable. I am new to the area and have quickly made Nicola’s my favorite place.
This was first and last time to eat here. I should have read reviews before ordering. I had a seafood dish and one of my mussels was “bad” (spoiled). Other reviews mention “newer” restaurants not being as good, I highly recommend those other restaurants over Nicola’s.
Over the past 3 months we have dined at all of the new Italian spots in Plano, Frisco & North Dallas. For quality of food, service and $$ value, Nicola’s was and is still our favorite Italian spot. Yes, you can head over to the trendy Legacy west or up to the Star but in the end, you’ll leave those new spots feeling rushed, with a so so feeling on food and service quality (you’ll maybe even use the well versed excuses, they’re new and need to work out the kinks). As for my wife and I, we prefer the consistency and quality of Nicolas.
Loved Nicola’s. The food was excellent and the service was spot on.
Service was great, but we were the only ones in the restaurant. A couple at the bat, I think. Food was not that great, somewhat tasteless. Restaurant was clean and quiet.
Excellent food and great, friendly service
Nicola's is the gold standard for a romantic night out. We celebrate the anniversary of our first date there every year, and it is consistently delicious.
Food and service was great!
Ate here this past Friday and has been the case for the past 10 years food and service were great. We have tried all the “new” places, North Italia, DaMario and the slew of other places that have recently opened up in the area and while these new places appear to be the latest and greatest, Nicola’sh is simply the best. We call it our “steady eddie”. No surprises, great food, great service and great value for our money. The thrill of the newness will wear off and like us people will long for the comfort of Nicolas.
Drinks are good, but pricey. Stick with known dishes, seafood special was very fishy. Great service. For some reason, didn't get points on Open table for my reservation :/
We had a fabulous dining experience..our server was Reid and he was terrific !!!
Great atmosphere and surroundings. Superb service. Beautifully plated meals.
Excellent food great service! Would visit again
The booths in the back are very uncomfortable. We went to another restaurant for dessert because we were so uncomfortable.
Food quality has gone way down. This was always on my 'must go' list when visiting the area for work. No more.
Despite their website claims; the bread is obviously not made from scratch each day (what that means for freshness claims of the rest of the menu; I’ll leave that to the reader).
Nice ambience and service but very mediocre food.
Server was not that great but the food was awesome
entrees were excellent, unfortunately calamari appetizer was similar to Goodyear tires. Place was half empty on a Saturday night and waiters plentiful but ours was asleep at the switch. Beautiful place but poorly managed and serious disappointment. Valet parking a total fiasco and bar drinks somewhat miserly. Has potential to be excellent if better managed
We eat at Nicola frequently and every dinner is exactly what we expect. Great service from Asir, good food and nice atmosphere. Essentially dinner is what we like, no unpleasant surprises.
We had a wonderful Easter Brunch at Nicola’s! Our waiter, Ethan, was super attentive and a great person! He took wonderful care of all of us and made my Mom and Dad feel extra special! Thank you, we will be back again!
The appetizer and salad arrived at the same time, followed by our main course. This was not an enjoyable dining experience.
As always, Nicola’s succeeds in providing an excellent meal and outstanding service.
It had been years since we'd last been to Nicola's. Unfortunately, it has not aged well. It's a bit threadbare and dated, the food was mediocre and the drinks underwhelming. This place needs to step it up.
We are regular diners who enjoy the food service and atmosphere. Our recent visit, there were a number of families there with children of all ages. It was great watching the families enjoy their meals knowing that the menu serviced all ages. Our service was great, as usual, food prepared as we wanted with substitutions made to suit our tastes
We’ll continue to dine at Nicolas
Our waiter was named Reed and he was very patient and helpful. The food was plenty more than expected. The mango margarita I had was delicious! Great dining experience overall!
The food is good. The ambience is perfect. The management is very attentive and the waitstaff is friendly.
Amazing food great service. Accommodated our food allergy issues easily.
We were warmly greeted at the door. Waiter Benjamin was attentive and helpful. Carpaccio di Manzo was a great way to start, with wonderful fresh mozzarella Orecchiette was delicious and al dente, and the serving was generous enough to box half of it to take home. I highly recommend that you save room for dessert. My favorite is the Torta Cioccolato, which is a flourless chocolate cake served warm in a ramekin. Just the right size and sweetness. Thanks for a lovely meal!
Great food and excellent service!
Nothing special, just another restaurant. Food was ok drink were good.
The ambience was elegant, the food was tasty, and the staff was very nice!
Nicola's was super cozy! I loved the dark lighting and quaint bar. The service was impeccable - from the bar staff to the wait staff. There were multiple items on the menu I wanted to try, so I will definitely be back! We went with the Carpaccio appetizer and split the Fusili, which was recommended. All was fantastic!
Delicio food and warm service. Dishes are creative and flavorful; no boring Italian food here!!!
I booked this Valentine's Day reservation almost a month in advance and when we walked in and were greeted by the hostess I mentioned I had a reservation but the odd thing is it looked like the hostess/manager were looking for an open table on their seating chart. I noticed the pointed at one near the corner of the restaurant and I immediately became suspicious as to why this wasn't already designated. The hostess walks us over to a very cramped corner of the restaurant and sat us at a small bar tool table that had very little surface area. This made sitting with my girlfriend extremely awkward. The table was extremely wobbly and would shake back and forth when either person would rest their arms on it.
We ordered a couple glasses of wine per the servers recommendation which my girlfriend and I enjoyed. We ordered the calamari as an app but it had little flavor. The breaded peppers had better taste, in my opinion. We each ordered a couple of pasta dishes that were decent but nothing to write home about and could have easily been matched by my home cooking. The server was nice and explained the dishes well but lacked enthusiasm and did not re-fill our waters in a timely manner. This was probably due to the awkwardness of the table location as I am sure he was busy with other tables.
The experience would have been MUCH better if we were sat at an appropriate table per request in the reservation notes and I 100% regret not saying something at the time so for 100+ bucks I expected A LOT more than what was provided. It is safe to say I will not be going back to Nicola's or recommending this place to anyone.
This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at Nicola’s! I was very disappointed that even though I reserved a table for 4 literally weeks ahead of Valentine’s Day on open table, we were shuffled upstairs to a round table large enough for 8! It was terrible! We couldn’t share our appetizers or even talk over dinner because we were so far away from the other couple. To make things even worse, our dessert order took over 30 minutes to arrive. Longer than our dinner! Total disappointment. I have liked this restaurant in the past but not sure I will return.
We've dined here in the past and have always been pleased with both meal and service. We made our reservations weeks in advance as this was valentines date. Our reservation was at 6:30. We arrived a few minutes prior. We were seated right away, however waited waited over 15 minutes before we were attended. Waiters walked by us and filled glasses for the tables they were tending, however ; not one attempted to look over to see if we were attended to. I had to go to the hostess and ask for a manager. Once the manager was made aware he made sure we were attended to right away. Oz was amazing. When you work in customer service (especially in the restaurant fine dining industry) you do expect great service. The meal was ok. The waiter who attended us was awesome. Just wish we hadn't waited sooo long, look for a manager on a special occasion night.
We enjoyed our Valentine's dinner with the family. The food was very good! Appetizer, dinner and dessert! Great service too!
Food and service were great. Made the reservation for birthday celebration, restaurant did not acknowledge.
