Italian
The team behind One Off Hospitality Group, Executive Chef Paul Kahan and restaurateurs Donnie Madia, Terry Alexander and Kimberly Galban, presents Nico Osteria, an authentic Italian seafood restaurant at Thompson hotel in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast.

Chef Joe Lambert’s house-made pastas and fresh seafood, alongside Pastry Chef Leigh Omilinsky’s creative and approachable style are perfectly suited for the setting’s rustic elegance.

Salone Nico is a welcoming space, celebrating the European tradition of afternoon aperitifs and craft cocktails. The wine list features producers from Italy and Greece, as well as grower champagne. Grab a cocktail, sneak in a light bite or settle in for a night cap at Salone Nico.

We invite guests to contact us by phone for last-minute reservations or those hoping to reserve seats at the Chef’s Counter overlooking our open kitchen in the main dining room.

Very disappointing. Post an ownership and management change, (One Off Hospitality of Blackbird and Alvec fame no longer runs this restaurant) this restaurant has lost all the talent that made it a consistent favorite. Gone are the crudo (‘the fish did not get delivered’ - that was the new manager’s refrain). While the menu remains the same, the execution of the dishes are way off. Wines on the wine must have not been re-ordered. This restaurant unfortunately is destined to become yet another hotel cafe. Avoid.

Service was less than what we had expected. Server ignored us after we ordered. We had food issues and manager was helpful, but we were really surprised at the lack of attention and follow thru from the server. Server assistant was a star though and was non-stop all night!

Service friendly and attentive, and room is still very appealing but the big problem this time was the food- we found the brunch menu limited and my dish (corned beef hash) sounded good but was poorly executed. Nice setting, though

Nico was terrific. Both the scallop and stuffed calamari appetizers were outstanding. And the pasta and king crab cioppino were equally excellent. The portions were ample. The deserts were a great end to the meal. The service was outstanding, the ambience most pleasant, and, even though we were there for about 2 1/2 hours, we were never rushed or pressured to leave. I will definitely go back.

Excellent and interesting food. Amazing wine list with small and organic producers. Good cocktails. Just great overall setting with terrific food and service. Very consistent but exciting go-to you will always enjoy!

The food was absolutely delicious! I will dream about the Brussels sprouts bruschetta until I can go back and enjoy it again. And the gnocchi with mushrooms and peas was amazing - the sauce was incredibly flavorful and I wanted to lick the plate! The striped bass was perfectly cooked and very tender and delicious. Their homemade pistachio gelato was reminiscent of being in Italy , and the tiramisu was by far the best I’ve ever had. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and accommodating and the service was excellent. I very highly recommend this restaurant!

This was such a disappointment! We had a great meal here last fall and were excited to eat here again, but we’ll never come back. We were celebrating 2 birthdays. Our server could not have been ruder or less attentive. We had to ask someone to get her so we could order, had to find someone to get her again so we could get our check at the end. The food was a big disappointment, too.

Food was outstanding but the place was packed, pretty noisy and our waiter trying to cover too many tables, so it made it difficult at times for service. That said we would return and hope a few tweaks make it even better.

We had requested a table by the window as it was one of the first nice days in Chicago however we’re seated in the middle of the restaurant. Our waiter was also not very attentive, disappointing experience overall.

Service has always been pretty poor but food is solid. We went for Easter brunch and made reservations specifically for the patio. We were honestly pretty peeved to arrive on a gorgeous 75 degree day to find they had the patio closed, when all other restaurants nearby had packed patios. I asked why and the hostess was pretty cold in her response of “it just isn’t open.” Unfortunately it was too late to get in anywhere else so we just settled for a quick brunch here and went somewhere else for drinks and dessert.

All of the dishes were delicious and exactly as we imagined. The chef brought out a complimentary appetizer that we loved, and a complimentary birthday dessert for my Mom. Both of these gestures were pleasant and delicious surprises.

Food and service were excellent. The red wine was warm, almost hot. Bottles should be stored at 55-60 degrees, especially when you’re paying $100 for a decent wine.

Very small tables making it difficult to share plates, tables WAY TOO CLOSER TOGETHER making it difficult to have a conversation, chairs uncomfortable and when we asked for a booth (several were empty) we were told they are reserved. Wouldn't go back!

Left the note when booking the table that this is a birthday dinner for my daughter, told the front desk that we prefer the window table with the beautiful sunshine so that we could get some good photos and memories. However the lady in the front still gave us a very tidy spot by the cooking area and left the whole plenty of window booth spots empty...So sorry we had to tell the kid that maybe we could sit at your fav table next time. But Still feel disappointed. Won’t get back. The food is good
