The food is consistently delicious and fresh. Lovely evening dining al fresco.
Food was good but not outstanding for its reputation. We ordered the oysters, Brüssel sprout bruschetta, orchiette, and branzino.
the appetizer arrived one minute before the main meal . The main dishes besides being expensive , were bland-tasting . Ciopinno was served with out a dish on which to place the emptied shells. We ordered a bottle of wine which was not made accessible to us which meant we had to ask the waiter for refills.
Everyone felt the food was good. However, would have liked the whole Branzino to have a bit more flavor and more crispy.
Enjoyed r visit to Nico for the most part!
Very disappointed with r bread service which was
dry & not as delicious as I’ve had in past visits!
My fault for not sending it back!!
Love the Brussel Sprout Bruschetta!!!
Nico Osteria is one of my favorite places, food is always great. This last time we sat just outside the actual restaurant in more so the waiting area / hotel bar space and as a result it didn't have quite the same feel and the service suffered a bit as well. Still highly recommend!
We love bringing friends here. Always good service and delicious service. The guys were thrilled with the bourbon selection!
Simply a great restaurant to visit. Appetizers and mains are as creative as it gets and prepared perfectly every time. Our third visit and all three times sat at the appetizer bar watching the team work their magic. Love this place and the people who make it operate so well!!
My Atlantic Char was the greatest fish I had. The ambuance is superb and the crew were great. I would eat here each time I visit Chicago.
We started with fresh oysters and they were as advertised very fresh and served with a minced celery champagne vinegar mignonette. Our appetizer was over salted which is fast becoming a common occurrence with the use of coarse ground salt that hits the plate in higher concentrations in some areas and not others...so first bite SALT CITY, second bite fine, third bite REALLY SALTY....I give up. As I said this experience is not unique to Nico, but it needs to be address. (Truth in advertising we were reimbursed the cost of this appetizer). The pasta course, Cacio y Pepe, was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. However, the soft-shelled crab that we had for the main course was deep fried but had not been dredged in flour or batter therefore the overwhelming flavor of the dish was oil. It was served on a bed of Panzanella salad, unfortunately the already, oily delicate crab didn't benefit from the pairing or vice versa.
Brussel sprout bruschetta is a must get. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs was divine.
cocktails and wine were good. food was below average. Waiter was awful. bus boys were attentive and very good
This restaurant is a must when visiting the Windy City!
From the moment we walked in and seated by the manager to every server who brought us outstanding dishes of memorable fresh flavors.
The food is phenomenal and the manager spoiled us with his favorite pasta dish to share. The freshly made pasta and even the gluten free pasta is made at the restaurant.
We ate at the best that Chicago has to offer, and this restaurant is by far the Shang Star!
Our server was subpar. She was late to our table, had no personality and when we asked for suggestions gave us no real help. Luckily, my Italian born fiance was able to assist the rest of the table in explaining the entrees. We visited other highly recommended restaurants in the Gold Coast/River North area during our trip and this was our worst experience.
We had a fantastic waiter who was so kind and really did a great job taking us through the menu and timing the courses.
What was paid for what we had was no where near worth it. I’m glad we stopped at the small plate.
I was totally disappointed and 100% unhappy.
Andre is the best always love coming in , one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago hands down
Very nice cocktail bar . Indoor dining room not as comfortable or elegant but decent atmosphere . Food overall a 6 out of 10 . Prices for this touristy area within reason but really not a place for a first class meal.
Great food, great time!
Very solid and consistent. Food was good and original. It’s a place I go to if I am in the area.
We ordered Titos, Absolute and Jameson. They didn’t have ANY of them. Not a high class restaurant if they don’t even carry basic alcohol choices. Very disappointing!
Great place to celebrate our anniversary dinner. We were greeted with complimentary bubbles, and had fantastic service all night!
Brussels Sprouts toast is everything! The bread to start is also fantastic. Good for friends meal, business meeting, and even fine for kids.
Highly recommend the meat ball appetizer service was great.
Lunch was great - we sat outside and had great service - they took care of us and our food restrictions/allergies were handled well!
Staff helped out when our pentacle reservation was mixed up and we still could have a great meal
great experience overall... food was on point and serice was stellar
Great values on a great wine list
Food very good
Great evening. Tremendous service. Wonderful cocktails/wine with delicious antipasti (Brussel Sprouts, meatballs). Cacio e Pepe out of this world. Branzino a bit disappointing. Side vegetables odd. Potatoes (contorni) also seemed bland.
I am an avid foodie, who frequents many food scenes around the world, and Nico is still one of my favorite Chicago restaurants, and that is saying a lot given it is surrounded by a ton of other options.
Young man at desk rude.
We asked for a table by the window but got seated at a table for 2 pretty squeezed between other tables for 2. it took an extremely long amount of time until we could start ordering. A colleague of our waitress felt sorry and took the drink orders. We had to call our waitress to finally place the food order. The restaurant didn’t look super busy. Food came out in appropriate speed and quality was very nice though I recall it even better in the past. It became very annoying when on the table next to us two people got seated who were very noisy and speaking very loud without interruption. While this behavior isn’t due to the restaurant, the impact became hard to bear due to the narrow seating. Thus made the dining experience not so pleasant. Overall value you get for the relatively high cost is at the lower end.
Loved everything except the music was too loud and I had to read my date’s lips because I couldn’t hear him. The food was great!
We had great time and great food. Our waitress Jasmine was wonderful; very attentive, pleasant. Thank you!
Food quality wasn’t up to usual standards. Never got bread and spotty setvice
The food was outstanding. We will definitely go back. Service was a little off, but it was very busy. Sitting at the chefs counter was a challenge. I would not recommend that if a table is an option.
The server was extremely professional and knowledgeable and the food was delicious. However, the hostess was not pleasant. The restrooms are inconveniently located below grade and require taking approximately 20 stairs down to the basement.
Horribly oily food....can’t imagine why? Terrible service. Uneven timing.
Isn’t feel clean. So many good places to eat near this joint. Skip this!
I’ve been to Nico’s Osteria many times and today was by far my worst experience. The waiters were extremely slow, had to ask them three times to pick up our plates. The fish was not good at all, dry, old (dark on one side) and overcooked. The Rigatoni Bolognese were ok, nothing special! The best was the Hamachi Crudo and the desserts. It was not a great experience at all!
Very nice place, the best for breakfast, the service is spectacular!!
We love it!!
