We had a great meal before a concert at NJPAC. The food was great, the restaurant was busy but not to noisy. The best part was we weren't rushed in any way. Great place to go before a performance.
We went there for a pre-concert dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The food was creatively prepared and the wait-staff was professional and charming. We'd go again even if we going to a show.
The service and food were very good. My wife and I were there for a concert at NJPAC and dined using the prix fix menu . The only issue we had was that our check had us down for 3 meals, not 2. This was quickly corrected, however I wondered if this error was intentional, possibly to gain a larger tip.
Good pre concert dinner........easy to get to from 21......service is very friendly and efficient.......not very cozy for date night....bar crowd seemed comfortable
Would have liked to see different apps. Not just salads. Yes , there was tomato soup but the chicken dinner was served with salad.
Second time at this restaurant. First visit, two years ago, was not a satisfactory experience, but we returned because of its convenience to the theatre. Glad we did. Service was outstanding! We arrived 30 minutes ahead of our reservation and hostess was friendly and seated us with no problem. Our server, Jonathan, was exceptional and should be commended for his professionalism. All of the waitstaff were great and made the evening enjoyable. The pre show menu is okay, offering a variety of options. We were not rushed and had a relaxing, memorable pre show dinner.
Really nice place to eat before a concert. The food was good and really liked that the appetizer, meal, and dessert is included in one price. Drinks were perfect. The best creme brûlée. We will be back!
It is a shame that a beautiful venue like NJPAC contains only a mediocre restaurant.
Enjoyed the kale salad each was split. Had an appetizer which was okay but uneventful.
Receptionist was indifferent and the kitchen lost our meal ticket order. We waited an hour for 2
sandwiches. Noone checked to see if we had our food until I went to the receptionist who was now on her cell phone. So sorry I had to interrupt her personal call. It is a lovely place and convenient to the theater if one would like a drink. Beyond that I would go somewhere else.
We are regular performance night customers at Nico. Saturday was underpar. The menu was not up to usual standards. The avocado toast appetizer was a excellent. i had grilled salmon, which was good and cooked to my liking, while my companion's gnocchi was good, but nothing special. The wait for our entrees was far too long, although the restaurant was not especially busy. It seems that standards and imagination in the kitchen have taken a step back under the new management.
Great experience. Exceptional service. Everyone was so friendly and caring.
Phenominal salads!!!! OMG If you go here get the ancient grain salad and add seared tuna on it!!! I can't even! My second time ordering it. Perfectly dressed (I am an avid healthy eater and this salad was amazing and the tuna was seared rare PERFECTLY). I have eaten at so many restaurants that over dress their salads, I need to order the dressing on the side-NOT HERE :) They know what they are doing in the kitchen. The server we had was a darling, and super nice and smart about taking care of the table-I forgot her name but hope she stays because she was just amazing and thoughtful. The decor is dated but it is just NJPAC for you, and I know they have a diverse crowd via all the extremely different shows they venue, so in hindsite it actually really holds up trying to cater to all the different needs. Overall great experience and would absolutely eat there again! Dinner and a show-it's great!
Awesome as always but I’m regular. I get the gnocchi’s or steak. Delicious.
We were at NJPAC for an graduation ceremony, so we reserved a table for late afternoon. The servers were extra attentive and extremely friendly. The food was pretty standard, but the Brussels sprouts were delicious. (and I usually despise that vegetable!). I will definitely make it a point to dine here when I'm in town for other events.
We screwed up and made reservations way too close to curtain time...but never fear, the Nico staff worked like a well-oiled machine to get us our dinner in time. Plus, everything was delicious. THANKS for saving the night!
Loved the restaurant. Service was one of the best I have ever seen, and we do dine out a lot. Food was well prepared, delicious desserts.
Definitely recommend to everyone.
We had calamari first. Whatever it was dipped in before frying was delicious-we would order it again. Cuban sandwich was on point and fries were awesome and piled over the plate-yum. Our waitress was friendly and there are no complaints here.
This restaurant has a pre-concert captive audience since there aren't a lot of places near the concert hall to eat. Each time we cave in and go we regret it. The room is cavernous, unappealing and noisy. The service borders on dreadful. The food is ordinary, but pre-concert you're forced into the fixed price dinner. Perhaps if you can order more freely it might improve. I can't imagine a place with less atmosphere and I do wish they wouldn't whisk the plates away so fast while others are eating. They seem very nervous about getting those dishes back in the kitchen! There is nothing I can recommend here except for the convenience of being inside the same place where one is attending a concert. Probably this will be the last of our several tries.
This was my second time dining at Nico and I couldn't wait to return. The menu was great and the staff was professional , and very attentive to our needs. The staff and Chef [whom even came out to introduce himself ] were very accommodating to all of our dietary request. Any and all events taking place at either NJPAC or the Prudential Center that I attend I will always dine at Nico !
As usual, the food was good and the service was excellent. Two young women, Sapphire and Jasmine, served us. They were both friendly, efficient.
Had a great time. Steven was so hospitable and clearly a great leader of the staff.
We have eaten at Nico's very often and have always enjoyed the food and the service and the convenience. This time, however, the restaurant was set up as a prix fixed buffet, which was not announced when we made our reservation. We were expecting our usual experience, and we are not particularly fond of buffets. But in addition to that, there were many large parties - also unusual in our other times. The noise level was incredible. Maybe all of this was because it was mother's day. Whatever the reason, it would have been appreciated to know it in advance. We were not there for mother's day. Just our usual pre concert lunch.
Nevertheless, the food was as good as always and the servers are amazingly well trained and very friendly.
The service was great. Did not know only a buffet would be offered. Food was fair, desserts good. Would recommend to friends when regular menu is offered.
Very good, chicken pops and calamari were great! Kiddo loved the pizza!
My family and I visited Nico before the Alvin Ailey performance. The food was magnificent. The staff mapped out the timing to make sure we made it to our seating in time. Very professional, friendly and clean.
We dined here this past Saturday evening, before seeing Alvin Ailey at NJPAC, and our waitress Nia was fantastic. She was amazingly attentive, kind and personable and, although the restaurant was quite crowded with pre-event diners, she constantly made sure we were content with our meal and experience. If we could give her more than five stars, we would do so.
All 4 of us were very pleased with food, ambiance and service. We had tickets to Alvin Ailey show and this was a great place for dinner!
Attentive service and very good food. We had dinner prior to a show at NJPAC. Our table was ready when we arrived, service was great and the food was very good. After dinner, we walked right into NJPAC from NICO's where out tickets were scanned. Very convenient. NICO's is on our list for places to eat pre-theater.
Lovely place to dine before a concert st NJPAC. Will definitely be back!!!
Good spot in Newark. Thanks to Pam for the great service.
Hospitable staff. Everyone was upbeat and our meals were tasty. Our server recommended desserts and she was right on how delicious they were.
We dined here before seeing Mel Brooks for my husband's birthday present. I had always passed Nico while at NJPAC and wanted to try it. Since it was a 3p.m. show, we made a reservation for 2p.m. Nea was very sweet and helpful, the menu is varied, simple, and small. I would have seen a cocktail menu, but it's a wine list they give you. But I think that's just because they focus on the wines. My husband really enjoyed his burger, and my cobb salad with grilled prawns was excellent. Portions were perfect, and we were right there for performance time, happy, full, and ready to laugh!
Enjoyable pre show meal. Great service. Food was middle of the road
Delicious. Everything we had was great, service was good, too.
I love going to NJPAC, and eating at NICO is so convenient, but unfortunately the food and service were well below acceptable. The salmon, which I asked for medium rare was bone dry.
The salad was tasteless, and they used an unappealing kind of lettuce. The plates were delivered at different times, as we wondered if someone's order didn't get processed.
On the positives, the room is large, open, spacious, and quiet. The dessert was quite good.
My wife and I were attending a concert at NJPAC and Nico's is right next door. The food was good. Jasmine our waitress was superb! On event nights, they have a price fixed menu but the appetizers, entrees and dessert were all good. Service was fine.
My experience at Nicos was ok for a convenient pre show meal. I was attending a show by myself so wanted to arrive at the theater early to ensure a parking spot in the adjacent lot. The pri fix salad and desert were good. The entre was eh. Wine selection was fine. Service was good. If I were going to a show by myself I would like eat at Nicos for the convenience again. If I were with a group of friends I think I would find somewhere else to dine.
Excellent and convenient place to eat right before seeing a show at nj pac
Very pleasant experience. Our waitress, Jasmine, was very attentive, helpful and accommodating. She was very pleasant, making the dinner more enjoyable. The hostess that sat us at the table though, had to point out that we should have called if we were going to be delayed, which we were (20 minutes late....stuck in traffic). She, along with the other hostess, almost gave the impression that we may not be able to be seated. The restaurant was practically empty, and there were plenty of tables open,...no crowd rush at all. But other than that, it was a very nice experience.
