Nicky's Coal Fired
The pizza is always good and our "go to" every time we go to Nicky's. However, this time we tried a pasta and was blown away! The fresh pasta and the intensity of flavor of the red sauce with country ham was outstanding. Our server went out of her way to point us in the right direction for appetizers and the pizza of the day and was spot on.
Came here tonight for our first time with our kids and our friends with their kids and it was amazing! The service was great! The food was amazing! And the service and atmosphere was top notch! We will be back!
Very much enjoyed the service of our waitress Ruth. Very positive and engaged. Refreshing. She seemed a bit over scheduled as she also had to bus tables, clear tables, etc. This seemed to be the root cause of a slower evening. She was great but the wait was a bit frustrating.
Food was good and portions reasonable. A bit pricey for what we got. Not accustomed to having to pay for bread with an Italian meal. Seems like just about all places provide that. Bread and the butter were great, but $8 seems a bit much for 2 squares of bread.
Overall the check with tip was about $85. Seems high for 2 basic Italian meals, 2 drinks, bread and Gelato. Gelato was delicious though.
Place inside was comfortable but very loud. Hard to talk. All staff seemed positive, engaging and welcoming. Very nice.
Liked the ambiance and the service was great. My wife and I dine out regularly and we drove up from Franklin to enjoy the experience. Not sure the value is worth a return trip though.
Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts. Much appreciated. Hang on to Ruth. Did a great job.
Nick was our waiter and he was awesome!!! He remembered us from the last time we were in and even remembered that we recently moved to Nashville from Detroit! Food was spot on as usual!!
Pasta was outstanding (bucatini). Also loved the watermelon & tomato appetizer. Rest of the food was good, but not great.
Always great... and the sunset from outside! Always gorgeous!
Food was phenomenal. The rock shrimp corzetti and the sweet corn gelato were mouthwatering. The white wine special for the evening was also a great recommendation. We will definitely be back!
The food was delicious but the restaurant is very loud. Very difficult to have conversations across a table.
Love this spot + their food. Really never had a bad experience, however not for the older or folks who don’t like loud spaces 🤣 we adore Nicky’s 🏆
Nashville’s best kept secret!
Pizza is always so good! Try the gelato! You will not be disappointed!
Excellent creative pizzas. Could use more vegetarian options, but is a neighborhood gem!
Overall I do recommend Nicky's Coal Fired others to try. The food is very good and the staff is pleasant and knowledgeable, but please keep in mind the following concerns before you decide to go during busy hours.
It's a very very noisy restaurant environment that makes it extremely difficult to hear others speaking at your own table. High noise level maybe due to the ceiling height or the non insulated all brick walls of an old building, but to be sure it's really really loud inside!
Another issue that we experienced is our waiter included an 18% gratuity on our check, but failed to tell us that was part of our total bill, so we almost paid another 20% on top of his 18%! If we hadn't caught the error and made a last second adjustment, our waiter would have received a 38% tip. He was a good waiter, but not a 38% quality waiter, if you know what I mean!
One last issue for those of you driving and trying to find an open car space in N.C.F. parking lot. The parking lot has a dead end design, once you pull in and drive to the rear of the lot, there is not an exit or turn around area to get out easily. So if the lot is full and you enter it, your only choice is to back up to get out. To make matters worse, if other vehicles followed behind you into the parking lot, it causes a major traffic jam!
The food the other night at Nicky’s Coal fire was superb - fresh, inventive, and tasty. Great summer vegetables, a terrific salad, and one of the best pizzas we have enjoyed there.
Nicky's isn't really a pizza place...it's a culinary experience. We usually get one pasta dish and one pizza, sharing the two....and they are always spectacular.
We last visited on our one month anniversary and they made it a special night. When we arrived our table was sprinkled with hearts, and soon after we were presented with complimentary glasses of champagne. Our waiter was awesome and truly enhanced the dining experience.
We had Mama G's meatballs with red sauce, sourdough and Grana Padano...Smoked Eggplant and Ricotta Ravioli...and pizza with Roasted Garlic Cream, Pepperoni, Spinach and Mozzarella. Couldn't have been better.
Nicky's is one of our favorite restaurants in Nashville.
We were there recently and had a pizza we loved. Went back with more family to get the pizza again. Well, they changed the menu and our pizza wasn’t on the new one. Our waiter - Taylor, asked the chef and they were able to recreate it for us. They had to make an adjustment due to available ingredients. We loved the pizza and really appreciated them going outside the norm to meet our request. The food was great as was the service. We’ll go back soon. Best pizza I’ve had in Nashville!
Excellent pizza! Perhaps a few more options, or a create your own would be nice. Pasta was also excellent, perhaps a bit overpriced for the portion, and no table bread. Wine served in mini-tumbler which gave appearance of poor value. Overall a very good experience, and we look forward to seeing tweaks in the future.
Left hungry, portion sizes are more like appetizer size.
It was loud and the food was not worth the money spent. They cocktails were terrible
Food incredible and unique. Service was exceptionally slow. It took over an hour and 20 minutes to get our food.
Great food especially the Patty Pan squash appetizer.
Second trip in...we loved it as much as our first.
A must try in Nashville!
The fennel sausage pizza was awesome. Great pasta, salad and appetizer. Finished it off with some cheesecake. We will be back ASAP.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The beet salad and house made mortadella stood out.Good service, pleasant decor, decent prices. We will definitely return in the future.
Went to Nicky’s for the first time for an amazing vegan pop up with Be Hive. The food was amazing, the restaurant was really beautiful and the drinks and wine were delicious. I’ll be back!
Excellent vibe and food. The menu is short and to the point; they clearly know what they’re doing.
We were here for a kitchen takeover by the vegan deli BeHive, but I accidentally made our reservation for the wrong day! SO we went twice, trying the regular menu one week and making it to the BeHive pop-up the next. I'm vegan and my boyfriend is pretty much the opposite, so he had a bunch of stellar choices on the menu and loved the pizza he got. I was worried because it didn't look like there was anything I could get on the Nicky's menu but our waiter and the kitchen we incredibly accommodating and made me something off menu. A little pricey for our college student budgets, but definitely worth the price! A great date-night option with outstanding drink choices and great atmosphere. The bathrooms are also cute which is always a bonus. 10/10 would recommend, and would really love to see another collaboration with BeHive, that menu was phenomenal!!
I’ve been here several times for dinner but this was my first time coming for brunch. Honestly wish the selection was bigger for people that weren’t wanting breakfast-type items. Summer salad was not my favorite, either. Think I’ll stick to dinner only.
This is an awesome restaurant! Great food and service. My wife had the scallops and said they were outstanding!! Terrific prices too, compared to other Nashville restaurants.
Nicky’s is the best. Our go-to Nashville restaurant! We eat there at least 3x per month. Nicky’s has a fantastic menu, always fresh and unique. Excellent service, delicious food and great atmosphere!
Super loud, food took 45 minutes to arrive while tables around us (all seated after us) were served. I had to ask our waiter to check on our food. Prior to that he had not acknowledged the delay. As a 6 top, I get that it’s not your average 2-4 people, but it’s pizza and veggies. Come on. And once the food finally came, the vegetable starters were amazing, and the pizza sauce was over-salted. Not worth the price tag.
Our pasta dishes were creative and delicious, the service was friendly and helpful, and the room was industrial-elegant. Loved it 100%.
Restaurant seemed understaffed. From where my husband and I were sitting, there were only 2-3 guys waiting on the booth area. And maybe 2 girls waiting on the other tables. Our waiter seemed nice enough. But being as it was our first time didn't speak much, didn't ask us if we had questions about the menu. Because the pasta I ordered wasn't at all what I was expecting. Just took our order and said okay. I ordered the Pork shoulder with sauteed spinach and macaroni noodles(pretty much all it was) Was expecting for it to have maybe some kind of sauce. Alfredo, marinara. Something. Nope. Also the pork shoulder looked like something that was taken from a can. The guests behind us had the same waiter in which he stood there explaining the menu to them. Um...okay. So now I have to ask about the menu when I go to restaurants? I thought that the waiter was supposed to ask? Huh. The waiter just took too long. I get other tables, other guests.. Yeaaa....... So We ordered the peach cheesecake which was pretty much the only best thing. But it took awhile to get to our table. As we waited went ahead and asked for a check which took forever to get back to us. For the area that its in. Great for them. Convenient close by. Great. Food wasn't what we expected it to be. Sauce less everything apparently. Hubbs ordered a pizza. Was sauce less but had "sauce" on it. But it was runny like water. Had I known about my pasta before ordering it I wouldn't have.
The power went out in the neighborhood half way through brunch and despite the heat the meal was served and was delicious. Good food and excellent service
Great pasta, and pizza, service was perfect, it was my first time there but it wont be the last there
Pizzas are great. If Rose'sangria is available, order it
Our waitress, Jennifer was fantasic. The meatballs and fusilli were absolutely amazing.
So good, I recommend everything and the service is top notch! Josh and Taylor are rock star waiters!
Although the anchovy and caper pizza was too salty, the food was quite good for the most part. The cocktails were not great (too much aperol in spritz), and the wine was served in a shooter glass full to the brim that I see no reason wine should ever be served in.
Although the server seemed like a nice guy, it took far too long to take our order, for food to come, and to pick up the checks. Over a two hour experience for some pizza was not what we had in mind.
