We had a birthday lunch. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious - melt in your mouth prime rib, amazing butternut squash soup, healthy side salad, decadent desserts. The ambiance is very nice with low music although at some point the background base beat became a bit heavy. There are few places where everything is perfect - this is one of them! Enjoy!
My girlfriend and I have birthdays two-days apart and we decided to have a nice lunch. I have eaten at the Nick’s in DTLA and Nick’s on 2nd in Long Beach. By far the ambiance and service at the Pasadena location were superior to either of the other locations. Besides, the Pasadena location has a great flatbread from a pizza oven inherited from the former restaurant at the same location.
Don’t get me wrong, the food at the other two locations are just as good; it’s just the setting and service in Pasadena were exceptional.
My girlfriend raved about the salad with salmon. She said the salmon was cooked perfectly!!! A little crunch on the outside and moist and delicious inside. My French dip on brioche with salad was extraordinary. The salad was amazing and the French dip with horse radish and au jus was mouth watering...and not because I kept dipping my dip in the au jus.
Oh! Almost forgot. The butter cake with vanilla ice cream and berry compote completed the meal with the best latte I have had in a very long time.
With no hesitation I highly recommend Nick’s in Pasadena.
Food and drink were great. Server Vanessa was helpful and personable. Manager Chris was great, and he promised us Green Chartreuse and Last Word cocktails will be available soon, which will make Nick's even better!
Was very good as usual. Service started out slow but picked up.
The service was exceptional. The waiter made sure that we had something to drink once we sat down. More importantly, he provided us with enough time to select our dishes. We did not feel rushed. Also, the time between placing our order and getting our food was just right. Once the food arrived, we were all thrilled. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. This is our third time at Nick's South Lake, and we highly recommend this location! It is a beautifully decorated restaurant. Parking is convenient.
My husband and I enjoyed our evening celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary. The service, ambiance, and the food was beyond expectations. Thank you for the truly memorable evening and dining experience.
Such a great experience. Great employees and great food. Hands down great experience!!!
Excellent food and service! One of our new favorite restaurants!!!
Excellent Dinner. Great location, can't wait to come back.
Always a great experience and the entire Nick’s team was professional and courteous. Food was delicious! Thank you -
We waited nearly an hour for our food after ordering with no explanation.
Very disappointing all around. We will most likely not go back to Nicks on Lake.
Excellent customer service and excellent food with large portions!
Nicks on Lake has a wonderfully vibrant feel with nice modern furnishings. Our service was outstanding and we were allowed to linger and chat without being bothered. My only regret, is that they didn’t have a bit more extensive menu.
Consistently good food and service here. A great addition to the South Lake shopping district.
Good ambiance, good food, decent service.
Small food amounts to the ratio of money spent. We picked a smaller ratio portion with spectacular end result shock value.
The potato cake was the BEST! I ate most of my friend’s warm potato salad from her fish sandwich; it must have been the white corn and English peas!
Another nice evening at Nicks. My friends first visit. He said the butter cake was amazing and equal to the best he’s ever had!
Best food. Best staff.
I had the fish sandwich and the mahi mahi they had that day was delicious! You can't go wrong with the picking the pan seared salmon or the fish sandwich if you're unsure what to get. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought over a butter cake that was to die for. The service was amazing and made us feel very elegant. Hot towel service before dessert was provided. Overall great place to eat and celebrate a special occasion.
Nick’s is great! I gave ambiance three stars because I find the gigantic potted trees in the front part of the restaurant are annoying to have to navigate around in order to sit at the table. They probably help reduce the noise since that room has such high ceilings but I find them challenging to navigate around.
The most unique restaurant I’ve ever been to. Amazing atmosphere, food, service, and a bunch of extra touches that I won’t spoil here!
Great all around. Prime rib dip is the best
The food was SO delicious, as well as the drinks and the wine bottle prices were great. Our servers Myra and Rebecca were top notch. Had the best dinner with our friends and will definitely be back.
Review after review of consistent 5 star ratings. This time Elizabeth deserves accolades for superb level of service. Marguerita pizza is to die for!
They were very accommodating with my request for a booth. Service was attentive. Food was delicious. I especially loved their warm butter cake - yum!!
Nice atmosphere, good service & food. Will definitely return.
It was my first time at Nicks. The whole dining experience was wonderful. I was by myself. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful.
I had Tuna Tatar and Chiapinno. Wow. The Tuna was fresh. and the Chiapinno was marvellous. The Butter cake was excellent.
I would definitely recommend Nicks to all my friends. Will surely be back..l
The service was great . The food delicious the deviled eggs were tasty never had anything like them. My salmon dish was beautifully prepared and wonderful. My friend was very impressed and loved her entree.
My husband and I enjoyed dinner here the other evening for our anniversary. From beginning to end, it was the perfect spot.
First of all, we sat in an oversized booth close to the front of the restaurant, that was in a great location. We felt a little secluded and private, which suited us fine. Our servers were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional and always attentive to our every need without being ever-present. Then there was the food. We shared the 5 jumbo shrimp taquito appetizers which were succulent and tasty with a wonderful just-spicy-enough salsa that really enhanced the flavor. I had Cioppino (enough for 3 people)--I ended up taking most of it home) with lots of fish, mussels, clams, shrimp and crab. The broth was other-worldly! My husband ordered the baby back ribs (11 of them!) that were perfectly prepared with a delicious barbecue sauce that was also divine. He asked for mashed potatoes instead of fries (not a problem) and also enjoyed a wonderful slaw salad that accompanied his meal. For dessert (which we don't usually order) we had their signature warm Butter Cake with Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. Our server added a candle to commemorate our anniversary. And because I had mentioned in my reservation on Open Table that this was an anniversary, our server presented us with a card that had been signed by all the staff.
All in all, this was a perfect spot for a memorable meal and we shall return for another very soon.
My husband and I always visit one of the Nicks locations when we travel to California. The Warm Butter Cake is one of our most favorite things and is a must-have, so save room!
I've have only been once and the food was not what I expected. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and it was too grizzly. It may have been an off day. However, it is a beautiful restaurant and the service was great. I'd recommend the restaurant to a friend.
Waitress was awesome
Celebrated friends Birthday
This was my second time at Nick's and it was every bit of good as the first time. I absolutely love this restaurant! They have the best food and drinks, and their service is unparalleled. They are very attentive and are well versed in their menu. We took my in-laws, who live out of town, and they had an amazing experience.
Our lunch was yummy. We shared two burgers. The crispy chicken and the veggie. Both were very tasty. Veggie burger made there with farro, black beans, and cranberries. It was moist and flavorful, served on a lovely wheat bun. Crispy chicken was delightful to bite into with crunchy texture and tender meat. Herb mayo set completed the mouth feel along with the brioche bun.
For dessert their specialty of warm buttered cake with berries and ice cream is a heavenly experience with crunchy sugar that caramelized in the oven with a tender center like a custard. It mustn't be skipped.
Our waiter Daniel made our experience all the more enjoyable sharing his knowledge about the food and his attentiveness but was never obtrusive. High marks for Daniel. He was a gem.
Great service and good food as usual.
I enjoyed the upbeat environment for a business lunch - it was comfortable and our table lent itself to have a comfortable conversation. The steakhouse salad is amazing - beautifully presented, it was an ample portion. The beef sandwich was good, but a little dry. I would return to enjoy more business lunches.. Service was well-timed and attentive. We were able to get in and out in a timely business fashion.
An enjoyable lunch. Service was great. Selected the blackened halibut sandwich. Plentiful but probably select something else next time.
The staff was incredible especially Erika. Food was great but the fried chicken sandwich was lacking some flavor. Not sure what happened this time. But all in all it was a great time!
