Nick's Fishmarket Grill - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
i was disappointed that there were no local fish options such as Perch, or Whitefish. Also when I looked at the menu online there was a scallop dish that was not on the menu in person. I had the shrimp and lobster risotto which was yummy but being a tourist, I was hoping for something more regional.
Had a reservation here for a month to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary only to be called the day of to be told lack of business warranted them closing the kitchen early and not honoring our reservation. Needless to say we were very disappointed. Guess it's no longer th Nicks I remembered. Luckily Gibsons still is.
First time here. Food was not bad. Had filet medallions for two of us. One was cooked properly, the other was overcooked. The other two ordered a fish meal. Pretty good overall. The problem is the service. One of the four of us did not receive their meal with everyone else. The person who brought out the food was the only one who seemed concerned or apologized. It took more than a half an hour to get the last meal. We all ordered normally at the same time. It was very uncomfortable and awkward to have one person not eating. This has never happened to us before. You could tell the meal was prepared after all the others. Not sure who dropped the ball here , but it was a deal breaker. We will not go back! Our server did not seem to care or offer any reason or apology. It was not busy, several empty tables. This will be the only Open Table review I will leave that I agree to leave a comment directly for the management.
Food was SOOOOOOOO good. Lobster bisque was outstanding, nice and buttery. Lobster and shrimp risotto was OFF. THE. CHAIN.
Service could've been better. Wasn't a busy night but had to keep waving waitress over.
Excellent food and ambiance! I was able to have a conversation w/ a friend without having to yell over loud music or loud people. Def will be coming back!
I normally like Nick's very much. Mainly because it is the only sit down restaurant in the Merchandise Mart for business lunch.
I have been many times. However yesterday I had a very unfortunate experience.
First we looked at the Restaurant week menu, $22 for 3 courses, great value.
Usually I get a good salad, about $18, expensive but good.
Our waiter recommended the fish special so my friend and I took it.
The halibut was OK, a bit dry. But what a shock when we got the bill, it was a $34 entree !
And we were never told by our waiter.! So a routine business lunch was $75 !!
I called to ask about it, and was told that our waiter should have told us, but no offer of anything, hardly a "sorry".
So I think I will have to find a new place for business lunches now. Not good for a waiter to recommend a special without telling the price and then to see it was almost doubble anything else on the menu ! That's up selling, but I am afriad they have lost a customer !
I was disappointed this was not the same restaurant I had visited before. It was difficult to find. The menu was much reduced from the restaurant I thought I was going to. I was expecting high end dining and what I received was a bar and grill...one step up from a Denny's. no misrespect to Dennys.
We made an 8 pm reservation and were very disappointed when we arrived at 10 minutes until 8 and were told that we could be be served, as the restaurant closes at 8 pm. They would not even let us place a to go order. I would have thought that they would not have let Open Table make a reservation for closing time.
