Excellent food and service. Location ideal for all via trains, bus, auto and by foot
The food for the price is not worth it. Food was bland, oysters were tasteless, and the service was slow. Would not go back or recommend.
The apps. were wonderful. Wine we had was very good . We are sad to see that you are closing.
i was disappointed that there were no local fish options such as Perch, or Whitefish. Also when I looked at the menu online there was a scallop dish that was not on the menu in person. I had the shrimp and lobster risotto which was yummy but being a tourist, I was hoping for something more regional.
We had the best fish n chips - not at all greasy, great crunch, sweet flavor.
Have eaten here in the past on trips to Chicago during trade show and we've been promptly seated and food was good. This year they were really running behind - would like to try it again under 'normal' circumstances!
It was too empty but still had a good time.
This place was a ghost town for an evening dinner. Service was slow.
Had a reservation here for a month to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary only to be called the day of to be told lack of business warranted them closing the kitchen early and not honoring our reservation. Needless to say we were very disappointed. Guess it's no longer th Nicks I remembered. Luckily Gibsons still is.
We had an artichoke dip that was flaming. Fun to see that. We also had the fish and chips. The fish tasted fresh. The breading could have been crisper. Overall, a good meal and fun time. Really liked Melisa - super positive and attentive.
Wonderful meal and great service .
While the food was very good, including the lobster bisque "shooter" which was full of lobster tidbits, the service was extremely slow, which was ridiculous since the place was nearly empty. Highly recommend the creme brulee trio for dessert.
The food is always good at Nick's as is the service.
The drinks were good - I had a Cosmo and my boyfriend had a few beers. However, the food (happy hour specials) and service were sub par. I may stop back in for a drink since it is close to my work. However, I won't be back for the food.
Have visited Nick's for lunch a few times but this was the first for dinner. Too bad I waited so long...was a terrific experience.
I thought the overall atmosphere was great. We were able to sit right away and we our waiters we very attentive.
I used my anniversary coupon and had a great lunch with my brother. I had my favorite, the lobster and shrimp rissota. Looking forward to going back
Server only placed the food order for 1/2 of our table. Then his shift ended and he didn't tell us, so our service was spotty for the rest of the evening.
Restaurant week. Food was amazing.
Restaurant menu was fabulous! Can't wait to come back!!!
Not the Nicks of the old days. Terribly slow service. Distracted waitress who could not keep our order straight. Ordered a bottle of Cabernet. It was so warm had to put a ice cube in each glass to make it drinkable.
First time here. Food was not bad. Had filet medallions for two of us. One was cooked properly, the other was overcooked. The other two ordered a fish meal. Pretty good overall. The problem is the service. One of the four of us did not receive their meal with everyone else. The person who brought out the food was the only one who seemed concerned or apologized. It took more than a half an hour to get the last meal. We all ordered normally at the same time. It was very uncomfortable and awkward to have one person not eating. This has never happened to us before. You could tell the meal was prepared after all the others. Not sure who dropped the ball here , but it was a deal breaker. We will not go back! Our server did not seem to care or offer any reason or apology. It was not busy, several empty tables. This will be the only Open Table review I will leave that I agree to leave a comment directly for the management.
Food was SOOOOOOOO good. Lobster bisque was outstanding, nice and buttery. Lobster and shrimp risotto was OFF. THE. CHAIN.
Service could've been better. Wasn't a busy night but had to keep waving waitress over.
Excellent food and ambiance! I was able to have a conversation w/ a friend without having to yell over loud music or loud people. Def will be coming back!
Lobster Bisque was out of this world!! Shrimp and lobster risotto also delish!
The service was excellent! They were very accommodating and quick for the lunch crowd. The food was quite tasty. A definite winner!
I normally like Nick's very much. Mainly because it is the only sit down restaurant in the Merchandise Mart for business lunch.
I have been many times. However yesterday I had a very unfortunate experience.
First we looked at the Restaurant week menu, $22 for 3 courses, great value.
Usually I get a good salad, about $18, expensive but good.
Our waiter recommended the fish special so my friend and I took it.
The halibut was OK, a bit dry. But what a shock when we got the bill, it was a $34 entree !
And we were never told by our waiter.! So a routine business lunch was $75 !!
I called to ask about it, and was told that our waiter should have told us, but no offer of anything, hardly a "sorry".
So I think I will have to find a new place for business lunches now. Not good for a waiter to recommend a special without telling the price and then to see it was almost doubble anything else on the menu ! That's up selling, but I am afriad they have lost a customer !
My semi-annual lunch with my sales associates. Great food to kickstart a great new year of business adventure
Great service and ambience to conduct a business meeting. The booths were comfortable and provided some privacy. Waitstaff was courteous and friendly.
This place was just whatever. Decent happy hour deals. Weird ambiance. Service was good. Overall meh. Much better options in the area. Won't go out of my way to go back there.
I was disappointed this was not the same restaurant I had visited before. It was difficult to find. The menu was much reduced from the restaurant I thought I was going to. I was expecting high end dining and what I received was a bar and grill...one step up from a Denny's. no misrespect to Dennys.
For that kind of money, they should have given more thought to the ambiance. There was NONE.
Love this restaurant. Great fish, great drinks & a perfect place to have a nice dinner
Great lobster bisque and good selection even if you are not a seafood lover.
We made an 8 pm reservation and were very disappointed when we arrived at 10 minutes until 8 and were told that we could be be served, as the restaurant closes at 8 pm. They would not even let us place a to go order. I would have thought that they would not have let Open Table make a reservation for closing time.
Business Luncheon. The Fixe-prix lunch is well worth the trip.
Great service -- Rauel always takes good care of us.
Fantastic meal and great customer service. Thank you!
Tilapia was overcooked which I wouldn't expect for Nick's.
Excellent seafood. Attentive service. Moderate prices.
The apple tart was great to share.
Wonderful food and great presentation. We had a late dinner. The restaurant wasn't too busy. We were able to enjoy a nice conversation. Would highly recommend for a special night out
