Service was was whack
Look at your bill. Not only do they charge 3 percent for nothing but they also recommend tipping on the tax.
Our bill was $580 without tax so the tip recommendation should have been $116 (at 20%) but with tax our bill was $700 so the recommended tip was $140
Just wrong. The 3% charge is junk also.
Blanton's bourbon, remarkable dry-aged rib eye, and phenomenal service.
Won't be the last time we dine here.
I felt the food was average very expensive loud
Over the years I have dined at N&S steakhouse several times. And I have always said it was excellent and would go back.
This time however was the last time we will ever go there.
The hostess had the personality and friendliness of a rock. And we ordered a bottle of white wine. The waiter removed the white wine glasses that were already on our table and replaced them with large bowl red wine glasses. I commented that these are the largest white wine glasses I’ve ever seen. Obviously he nor the Manager knew the difference.
They brought over the complimentary popovers which we were looking forward to. We both took one bite and pushed them aside. They were like eating cardboard and they were so hard yes u could break a window with them.
I ordered a Caesar salad which was absolutely the worst I’ve ever eaten anywhere! The dressing was so thick, heavy, and tasteless. My date had the grilled bbq shrimp which were dry and just ok.
We both ordered steaks and shared Mac and cheese and sezchuan green beans. The green beans were very tasty but very salty.
The Mac and cheese was the worst we’ve ever eaten. The cheese was powdery and gritty. It was worse than the cheap box Mac and cheese. No taste at all. The steaks were fine but not worthy of the price compared to a steak at other fine steakhouses.
The dessert was the best thing of the night. We shared the sea salt caramel mousse. We both joked it must be brought in from outside the restaurant after how bad the dinner was. We also both had coffee. Again, not good.
I can almost certainly say this place is either under new ownership, new mgmt, and a new chef. Things need to go
Back to the way they were in years past.
I would have to see some major advertising denoting change for us to go back ever again. I’m writing a review because I believe the only way a business can make changes is if they’re provided feedback both good and bad. I have written an honest opinion of our experience.
Service was exceptional, even for a large group. The space is newly remodeled and gorgeous.
Went to Nick & Stef's for the first tome a couple months ago and had an exceptional experience. The steak and sides we got were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, served piping hot, but the experience I had a couple days ago didn't quite measure up. The food was still very delicious, but both my steak and the 2 sides (creamed corn and broccolini) we ordered were almost cold by the time we got them. My first time eating there was a weekday, late afternoon (relatively empty restaurant) vs. my recent experience being on a weekend evening (packed restaurant), so I'm sure that affected the quality of service, but saying that, I would still reccommend Nick & Stef's for a nice dinner (though I might suggest going during the week a little before the potential rush).
Nick & Stef's is a classic Steakhouse. Not only was the food excellent, but the service was above and beyond. From pre-dinner cocktails at the bar to the host group to the wait staff everything was great.
I had a former USC student in town who is on the faculty at another institution. Normally, I would have taken him to the Jonathan Club, but they are dark Saturdays in the summer. My default back ups are Café Pinot and Nick & Stef's was booked up. Café Pinot was booked up so we went with Nick and Stef's. You get what you pay for. The restaurant delivered and the bill was impressive, $400 for two people. Still it was a fabulous meal. I when with the special flights selection that paired three cuts of steak (4 oz of New York, 4 oz of American Wagyu, and 2 oz of Japanese Wagyu) with three flights of liquor. I am switching to Hudson Baby Bourbon as a result of the experience. I have to sneak back for a private meal even when I don't have an out of town visitor.
Food and service were great as usual.
It was overall outstanding everything was
We went during dineLA week. They offered a 3-course prix fixe menu for $49, which was super worth its value. My friend and I got the petite filet mignon, which was awesome. The brussels sprouts and the potatoes au gratin were incredible as well. The surprise of the evening was the panna cotta. I’m not usually a fan of panna cotta, but theirs was flavorful and creamy, and the stone fruit topping was a perfect match.
Wonderful overall experience at Nick and Stef’s. The dry aged steaks were cooked to perfection and love that mesquite wood taste. Ambience was beautiful. The service was impeccable starting with the staff. They read my note that this was a Annoccassion to celebrate my fiancé’s new job. They made us feel special with champagne and dessert. Our waiter, KITE, was outstanding! Very attentive and had an vivacious attitude. Will definitively come again!
Excellent place to go for 3 couples celebrating their 59th anniversary together. It was Dine L. A. week, too.
The dineLA dinner offer was great value. The BEST part of the meal was the vanilla bean panna cotta with stone fruits. That's saying a lot coming from a chocoholic! The crab cake, filet mignon and mashed potatoes were very good, too!
Please remember to tip the wait staff on the full value of the menu when using these dining offers!!!
Great meal. Excellent service. I will recommend Nick & Stef’s to all my friends.
All food I had was great. The dry age rib eye steak was so good. I asked for medium and definitely got medium rare to rare but it was still good. The fries are light and crispy. the green beans with shesuang sauce and the Brussels sprouts are amazing as well. Even the little piece of green that comes with each steak tastes good.
Everyone was friendly, great service, great quality meat. We will definitely be back.
Food good. Service slow
I ordered the steakhouses burger which is quite good and the service is excellent. The only not so good is the desert ,chocolate soufflé cake, it is a bit too sweet.
Exemplary salads including the Caesar. Steaks - dry aged very flavorful, but woodsmoke grilling slightly overpowered the meat. Gilding the lily comes to mind. Sides were as expected - tending towards the rich (even veggies) and generous. Nicely chosen and fairly priced wine list.
It took an hour and a half for the food to come to the table. The sides were hot bur the river steak was cold. The server and manager were very apologetic and had the steak redone, but there was serous something wrong in the kitchen. 4 other tables left.
Great food and service. Thanks to our server James and the team
Excellent service!! Our waiter was the ultimate best!
Great martini! Fabulous steak! Caesar salad to die for, or from...haha! Outstanding knowledgeable service! I enjoyed the quiet, simple, spacious, well lit ambiance very much.
I been here several times & the food was amazing before! This time the menu was smaller & the steak was ok. I had a wagyu Ribeye asked for medium rare but came out so rare I had to ask them to cook it again. So, they brought my wagyu steak out & it was just ok. Wagyu is suppose to be buttery & not chewy at all. It still had it's lining membrane that made the steak unappealing to see when you cut! My kids ordered a 18 oz Ribeye steak medium & it came out rare too.. I didn't want to complain again so we just decided to take it to go instead...
Great steakhouse. I will dine in more frequently and recommend it to all my family and friends. Really made my anniversary a special one. Thanks!
Great and delicious!!
Amazing food and service. Love those popovers!
Our food took over an hour to come and when it arrived my steak was burned, the macaroni and cheese was bland and the scallops were fishy. The creamed spinach was bland and overcooked. We ended up leaving hungry. The manager was nice enough to comp us for our drink, but after an hour of sitting there hungry it just wasn't enough to make up for having to find somewhere else to eat at 9pm.
We ordered 3 different cuts of meat and had the kitchen divide equal portions to each 3 diners plate. Great way to experience the full texture and flavor of 3 different cuts of meat at one setting.
We have been there several times and the food was always very good, however this time the steak was very fatty , the salad had too much dressing and we requested that it be easy, the fries were flavored too much, the beens were way to spicy. The sever I’ve however was good.
They overcooked the meat, but the server and management were insistent that they take it back and try again. They also comped me my wine and dessert and brought me a second complementary glass of wine while I waited. The second try hit the mark on doneness, but even then the steak was a bit... um... chalky? The vegetable side was acceptable, but the stars of the meal were the wine and dessert which were excellent. Overall, the food had highs and lows that cancelled each other out, but the service was good.
best steak in LA, service was excellent, food was over the moon. we were in for an early dinner (6pm) and the house seemed empty, but it filled quickly.
I had the ribeye and long beans with the wedge salad.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ heading back next week for a show at the theater & another great meal.
a great restaurant for a tasty experience. However the prices are high; making it difficult to treat a large group for dinner. Service is impeccable and the ambiance is terrific. Perhaps a happy hour visit will be my next return.
I had the USAD Prime New York steak and oil was the best steak I ever have had👍
The wine was outstanding and the service was 5 stars.
It was my son’s birthday and he wanted steak. I had been meaning to try Nick and Stef’s for some time and this seemed like a great opportunity. Like a lot of top tier steakhouses, it’s expensive, but we found it to be well worth it.
Love the food, ambiance and service is top notch. Love coming here to celebrate a special occasion or making a special occasion just dinning at Nick & Stefs! Excellent dinning experience.
Came here for a birthday dinner. The staff was attentive and friendly. I ordered their dry aged Ribeye. It was a thing of beauty. I highly recommend this steak. Order it.
The service was fantastic. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Salads delicious. Sides : mashed potatoes, long beans were delicious.
