Food was great but service wasn't. I'm not sure if we caught them on an off night but it was definitely sub par. However management did their best to compensate for the issues. I would go back again the food was phenomenal.
Food was great, ambience was great, staff was great. Just wish I had remebered the name of our waiter from last year, Victor. I will not forget his name again. He is absolutely the best waiter we have ever had. He provides more than service, he provides an experience.
Went for the tomahawk and it was amazing. Their steak never disappoints.
Its amazing food and service. It's nice to splurge once in a while.
Great service and fantastic steaks!
The service and food were both slow. We had reservations so we were seated right away at a table with a nice view. Unfortunately the service was a little slow and the food even slower to come out. We had to ask our waitress how much longer first the salad would be and then the main course. Food was very good once we got it.
Food was great but the server was too busy and kept forgetting about my table.
I'm so sorry to hear that your experience with us was underwhelming. We use these reviews to continuously improve our service here and I hope this hasn't discouraged you from joining us again.
It was absolutely delicious...make sure you're seated away from a loud baby.. Other than that 99% of the evening was an excellent evening. Filet mignon and NY steak was juicy. Try the scallops! Excellent service all around with Ludwig and his wonderful recommendations!!
I took my gf out for her birthday dinner and the service and pricing was great. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever.
The restaurant was nice, the food was good. Was it exceptional? I don't think so. I've been to fine dining Steakhouses all over the country and while it was all pleasant enough, I have been to better at a cost that is much more reasonable. This is just my personal opinion.
Nice interior, friendly staff and good food!
the ceasar salad was excellent, but I asked for more anchovies and they never came, and it took quite a while to get salt and pepper. Pork chop was good but over cooked.
Arrived on a Friday for an early pre-show dinner. The service was absolutely terrific. We especially appreciated the talk-through as our server built the table-side caesar, explaining as she went what each ingredient was and why the sequence was important.
We each enjoyed an expertly made Old Fashion made with Michter's small batch. Really great, and each glass contained the coolest monogrammed block of ice
For dinner I ordered the dry-aged rib eye medium rare and my wife ordered the dry-aged New York medium. We both agreed that these were the best steaks any restaurant had ever served us, by a huge margin. Sides are family style, so we selected the potatoes au gratin and the roasted mushrooms. Both were delicious (especially those potatoes...wow!).
We finished up with a shared dessert, the salted caramel white mousse, which was divine.
Honestly one of the most enjoyable dining-out experiences of my fairly long life. Somewhat expensive (about $300 for the two of us) and absolutely worth it.
When you think you deserve a really great steak dinner, this is where you get it.
Nick & Stef's is our go-to place when we are in DTLA. The service is excellent and the food is always good. The staff makes you feel at home and it is just a very welcoming restaurant. We enjoy it immensely.
Thank you Mrs. Kenyon for your incredibly heartfelt review. It was so great to see you both the other evening and it means everything to us that you feel welcome and well cared for each visit. We absolutely love seeing your name on our reservation list and look forward to your next visit.
Quiet respite from all the construction going on outside. The food is always delicious. Service is wonderful, always on point. Will definitely be back soon!
Hi Cynthia, Thank you so much for your positive review and I'm glad both food and service meet your expectations each visit. Despite the construction, we too feel our location is a hidden gem. We all look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
Food is very good. I ate seafood, & especially liked the oysters - very fresh, very tasty. Took awhile to get them, however. The table-made Caesar Salad was fun to watch being made & quite good to eat. The main dish was Atlantic salmon - well prepared, perfectly cooked (which is crucial for seafood...a few seconds too long on the fire can quickly ruin it.)
Hi Nancy, I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed everything, thank you so much for your kind feedback. I'm glad you highlighted the seafood items. We wouldn't just have phenomenal steaks and let our seafood selections fall flat. I hope your kind words encourage those on pescatarian diets to join us!
celebrated my 17th birthday, first time here but not last, food and service was amazing. steak was bomb!!!!
Thank you Eduardo for your kind words. We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your birthday celebration with us and we look forward to seeing you again!
We had a great experience from start to finish. The food was excellent and they were able to accommodate all of my strange allergies.
Pretty pricey, but then justified. Dry-aged beef made the entire meal worth every penny. Had a glass of some Blanton’s which was decently priced and ordered the 28-day dry-aged Tomahawk for two and it brought this entire restaurant up to top 3 steakhouse for me. Service was as expected, nothing above and beyond.
Absurdly over priced $450 for a one steak dinner - with two simple sides, one smallish appetizer & a ok bottle of wine. $450! Are you kidding Me?
Nick and Stefs is very pricey and for this one should expect and receive superlative everything so.....the ambience especially in the big second room is kinda cold...not cozy enough. Our steaks were excellent but no selection of sauces were offered. the Caesar salad was uninspired. I asked for a simple baked potato but instead was brought a loaded bake potato. When i asked for an exchange, was told that the last simple baked potato had been eaten. The brocollini was too oily. No bread was offered. The bartender was excellent however.
My husband and I had dinner to celebrate his bday. First the cheese bread we got was soft and I kept asking for more, we ordered oysters which were beyond delicious and for dinner we shared a 48 oz Tomahawk steak......this steak was beyond delicious. The quality of this steak was impeccable and worth the money!!!! Great atmosphere, delicious appetizers and overall quality of the food we ate was amazing.
The side items and table side caeser we’re all very good, the streak was undercooked and warm at best. For the price I should have returned it but we had theatre tickets and didn’t really have the time. I would visit again, but would get a thinner cut of meat, but a filet.
My rib eye steak had a delicious flavor; but, it had a lot of fat and gristle.
We love Nick & Stef's Steakhouse. We Have been fans for years now. We were very happy to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary at our favorite restaurant. I hope our dining experience at Nick & Stef's will continue to get better every time. Thank you for the most amazing food, second to none service, and best ambiance any two people could ask for in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
Great food, the price fixe menu was a good value.
Nice atmosphere, good location
The service was as good as the food and, the food was superb.
I came here the first time because of their Dine LA menu and the food was amazing, I had to come back. This time it was my parents anniversary and they enjoyed it just as much as I did. Great food, amazing service and lovely ambiance.
We love Nick and Stef's. The in-house dry-aging just can't be beat. This was our fourth time dining here and the second anniversary we celebrated here. We love celebrating here as the staff is very responsive and so friendly, even providing complementary champagne. I was also our first time eating from their DineLA menu. We were happy with the selections and for the price, but you really cannot beat the dry-aged rib-eye and the molten chocolate cake. These were not on the DineLA menu and are some of our favorite dishes here. We will return again.
