This restaurant defrauds its customers by adding on a “3% administrative charge” to checks. This charge is not a service charge. They need to put it in their prices or stop this small-print swindle.
Furthermore, the steak came out cold and had little flavor.
Amazing beef tasting experience
We have been to Nick and Stef's quite often and as usual it didn't disappoint. Our waiter was very friendly and paced our meal to be relaxed and to get us to our concert on time. Job well done.
Great food- awesome service.....got us in and out in less than an hour, including with their wonderful table side Cesear Salad.
Celebrated my hubby’s bday there. I did mention it in the reservation but nothing was said when we arrived and no special dessert was provided. That’s ok if that extra attention wasn’t provided. Plenty of steakhouse out there that would have. It’s all about the details. I have to say, we don’t know DTLA very well and the woman who answered the phone was extremely patient and helpful.
I would definitely skip the seafood tower. Nothing spectacular and I do not like it when my lobster and scallops come out chopped up. The presentation just wasn’t there.
The steak and whisky trio, my hubby liked. I really enjoyed the salmon. Overall, a good night and we enjoyed the service.
They charge an administrative fees that they do not mention anywhere ! I find it sneaky and I won’t go back there.
I would say Nick & Stef's falls in the category of a solid to very good dining experience. Meals were fresh, prepared well, tasty. Great old school Caesar's salad. Service was very good. Not a spectacular dining experience, but an enjoyable evening....that said, it was also an evening on the pricey side.
Nice place to celebrate something special. A very good wine list. Service was excellent.
I used to love going to Nick & Stef’s for special occasion meals, including my birthday dinners. The food has gone downhill since my last visit: The aged NY steak, ordered medium rare, was very rare at one end and medium/medium well on the other. The creamed spinach, which I remembered loving from prior visits, was watery and flavorless. The service was absolutely flawless, however, and the tableside Caesar salad, prepared by our waiter, was the best part of the meal. There are so many downtown dining options now—the Patina Group needs to focus its attention on restoring Nick & Stef’s to its former status as a destination restaurant.
Used a BlackboardEats coupon to try out restaurant. Loved the table side Caesar salad. Great Filet Mignonette!
Place is amazing. Had the aged rib eye and the filet minion. Pricy but worth saving for. And they went above and beyond wishing us a happy anniversary
Overpriced and underwhelming.
The wedge salad was OK but nothing special. The ribeye steak was awful, tough, chewy, improperly trimmed. The so-called loaded potato was bland and mealy. The cherry cheesecake was laughably bad - supermarket-quality cheesecake with just a couple of cherries, quartered and spread around the plate. Yes, that cheesy. The coffee was plentiful, but no wonder - it tasted like coffee-flavored water. The noise level was deafening and the atmosphere lacking. The service was OK when it showed up occasionally. A huge disappointment, especially given a huge tab at the end.
This was our first time trying this restaurant. My best friend and I had an early reservation here on a Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. before a concert. When we entered the restaurant the front bar and dining area with tables and rounded booths appeared very quiet and nice. We were seated at a table in the 2nd (back) dining room where the ambiance was not as nice as the first and you could see wait staff coming and going from the kitchen. I would describe it as "cold". We were also seated in the middle of the room next to a very large party with children. When we asked if there might be a booth or table in the other dining room available, we were told they were reserved. So, although our table was not particularly pleasant we made the best of it. With that said, the service was nice although our waitress seemed rushed and did not have a much of a smile or personality. Service was efficient though and the food was EXCELLENT! Warm popovers were brought to the table (pretty good). We had a table tossed caesar salad (highly recommend) and filet mignon. We each tried a different types to see if we could tell the difference; I had Angus beef and my friend had Grass-Fed. Both were cooked perfectly to order. We both agreed Grass-Fed was tastier. We also had one topped with foie gras (oh my goodness..buttery and heavenly) and we shared the mushrooms and au gratin potatoes. Overall, the wait staff was very attentive and the food was excellent, although the table, ambiance and an personable waiter was lacking for a $300 dinner.
I've been to a lots of steakhouse and I have to admit it, This restaurant is the best of the best.
Great quality of Meats, Services and a little surprise for Birthday.
I did reserve the seat for Birthday Dinner but at the end of our dinner when I ask for a bill, they surprised us with a plate of Vanilla Flan that says Happy Birthday.
It is little bit pricey but I have to say, it is worth it !
I Highly recommended this restaurant!
The best steak I’ve ever eaten! We got the tomahawk ribeye and it had the best flavor and was melt in your mouth!
All excellent except VERY noisy!
We love this place, food is spectacular! I would give it 5 stars however we believe there could be a better selection on the wine menu, the wine list is quite limiting. I would like to see a Malbec on the menu, that is our go to when dining out. Service is 5 stars!
Dry aged sirloin was a poor cut and not at all up to prime standards. Decor is odd with no central theme and not at all an easy place to have a conversation. Service was good and the bar is a much better choice than the dining room
The food was excellent, the service was excellent, but one of the managers wore a suit jacket that was too small for him and was very noticeable !
It was our first time back to Nick & Stef's in several years (we just moved back to LA a few months ago). The remodel was nice, but most importantly, the food is as good as always. We love the Caesar salad prepared tableside! Our server, Will, was very professional, yet personable. My only quandary was that the online menu differed from the one presented at the restaurant (in the sides, at least). Not that I was disappointed in what we ordered, but I walked in eager to try the polenta as well as the brussels sprouts. I wanted to ask Will about it, but the right opportunity didn't present itself (we were eating with an important business contact for my other half whom I had only met briefly once before). Regardless, we had a great time and look forward to our next visit!
Service and food was outstanding!!! We highly recommend!!!
Reliable, outstanding dry aged steaks, always friendly, consistently good for decades.delicious scallops!
We’ve been going to N & S’s for years. Sad to say this will be our last time visiting. Just too many other great options. Time seems to have past it by. Steaks were sub par and the sides were nothing special. Caesar salad served table side was good though.
The food was fantastic. And I would have been happy to spend the nearly four hundred dollars I spent for only two people, if the service had matched the high quality of the food. However, it was somewhat lacking. Our waitress was perfectly pleasant, but I certainly wouldn't say anyone danced attention upon us... which is odd, considering the price we paid.
Our favorite steak house, went for my wife’s birthday. Food is always awesome and server was great.
Love the experience
3% admin fee is rediculous, food and service is great.
The service was very good. The cob salad was good but the mahi mahi was tough.
I have been in much better steakhouse in USA .
The new York strip I order mediam-well and was over cooked .
The taste of the beef to be USDA not so great
It was our first time and we enjoyed the food and the space. Great quality and service
Great food and great location for the Ahmanson Theatre. Parking was fine and so was the shuttle to the theatre.
Always wanted to try this place and glad I did. Food was great, not sure if it's worth the price tag, but I really enjoyed it.
Place was uneventful but Victor our waiter was amazing. He took care of us and talked and laughed with us and yes took our photos. Food was amazing but at $160 was too expensive for a smaller than normal Tomahawk steak.
But the worst part was the ambiance. It looked run down and uneventful. So if you want to see and bing seen then this is not a place for you. But if you want to have great food only, go for it. We loved their sides also.
I ordered a steak and I asked for it medium well and while it was prepared inside well the outside was burned badly and I could taste it. I also ordered the potato gratin and I have never had so much butter in one serving in my life. Last thing my sister ordered the salmon and it lacked flavor no type of seasoning. Maybe it's because I'm southern and like for my food to have a little taste but this just didn't do it for me. The service was great, but instead of offering me another steak they told me it would take a while so in other words just deal with it.
Cut it out. Great in every way. Bibiana and the Manager David Solis were quite the dynamic duo. Whimsical flavor of the rib eye danced on my tongue. Dessert...shut up... so good
Have to say one of the best steak houses in downtown Los Angeles. The food, ambience, and staff was amazing. Our server, Ludwig was so friendly and had great suggestions for dinner! Whether it’s a special occasion or you want to enjoy a great steak Nick and Stef’s is the place to go.
Good steaks. A little smokies. Good sides. A little pricey.
like always, very good quality and great service. Always happy to come back
