Sirloin Short Rib Blend, Wood Grilled, English Cheddar, Butter Toasted Sesame Bun, House Made Pickle, Seasoned Chips
Fantastic all around!!
Short rib was very tuff...very surprised.
Food is consistently excellent. Service is attentive and not overwhelming.
It has all the right techniques for a great restaurant!
For many years we went to the original Nicholas restaurant, especially for important or special occasions. It was our go to for celebration. We were a little sad when it changed to a more casual and family oriented restaurant. But the reality is, we go more often now as it is accessible in its new format. The quality of the food is still top-notch, as is the wine and bourbon lists. Well done!
Everything was absolutely perfect food, service end environment!
Decent food but overpriced. Service was excellent.
Enjoyed our first visit to the updated restaurant and were really impressed. Look forward to a return visit soon. The menu was good and many choices for everyone. Loved the quiet atmosphere. Most restaurants these days are so noisy you can’t have a casual conversation. Loved everything about Nicholas.
We were celebrating a birthday.
The food was good, the service painfully slow and the noise too loud. Maybe after 8 p.m. would be a better time. Sigh.
Turn off the background music! It just makes folks yell to be heard. I am reminded of this from a column by Frank Bruni, bemoaning the loudness in too many restaurants: “The chef Jonathan Waxman, 68, who owns the Manhattan restaurants Barbuto and Jams, said that we older diners are true in our tastes to the etymology of the word “restaurant,” which promises to “restore one’s spirit.””
Delicious food. Great service
Menu had a little bit of everything. Eachnifbys had something different. All delicious.
Amazing amazing amazing
Steak was perfectly done - a little too salty. Bucatini was undercooked and very salty. Dessert was delicious
Sat outside and very noisy because the restaurant is on a main road
Wait staff attentive and excellent
Awesome food great atmosphere and awesome service can’t wait to go back
As always Nicholas was on par with service and food we always look forward to dinning with them. Go and enjoy.
Very rustic and chic atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming and professional. Because the industry is short-staffed now, the wait time at the bar and table were slightly longer than usual. The presentation of the food was impressive but my entrée was a little heavy on the salt. The drinks were delicious and you must try the lobster bisque! Overall I do recommend it and will go back for the ambiance.
Enjoyed the beer and wine selections. Had delicious crudité and short ribs. The atmosphere was also outstanding.
Definitely worth a visit.
Barrel and Roost is consistently delicious, service is excellent, and the ambiance is refreshing. The quality of the dishes and recipes would lead someone to believe it's a stuffy restaurant but that couldn't be further from the truth. It's elevated casual meets exceptional dishes and drinks. It's become our new favorite spot. I've had everything from the avocado toast to the pickled tempura veggies, to a burger, eggs, to the incredible gnocchi and the crispy halbut. every single dish delivers. highly recommend if you want an above-average dining experience.
Had the "Nicholas Burger," a short rib burger with cheddar cheese, onion, etc...
Was among the best burgers I have EVER had!
Although the menu looked familiar the food was anything but....
I had soft shell crab which was excellent never had it prepared that way before.
My daughter and granddaughter had the beef burgers and they said it was the best they ever had. My granddaughter had fried pickles which she said were very good...
The dessert was the chocolate chip cookies the best.
All in all well worth the trip!
Too noisy for a quiet conversation. Food and service were outstanding.
It was my wife’s birthday. Drinks were great, service excellent, food was also excellent (beer salad - the best). Wife loved her oysters. Fish was very good (flounder a little too well done) and dessert was absurd! And, Nicholas came over three or four times - Great guy! An excellent dining experience ( and we are outside on a beautiful night). Thank you!!
Will go back. Beautiful decor
Great food and service! It was a nice birthday dinner!
Wonderful dinner at Nicholas Barrel & Roost! Definitely go!!
The restaurant is very noisy even when it’s not crowded. Plus they play loud music especially in the bathrooms.
Our new favorite place!
Soooo good!!! Food was delicious and we sat outside which was beautiful:)
Everything a just a little off. Normally the best restaurant around, but not this night. Main courses served a bit cool. Food (fish) just slightly over cooked. Suckling pig was more like upscaled pulled pork patty. Dessert (chocolate cakes) disappointedly small. Wines and beer excellent as usual. Will be back for another try because it’s been our favorite by far and usually excellent on all fronts.
Great food in a new casual setting.
The "new" Nicholas (Barrel & Roost) really works. Came for the cornmeal crusted softshell crabs (phenomenal) and left with two amazing desserts, best skillet cookie and ice cream I've ever had (and I've had alot!) and a S'mores rendition in a skillet that looked incredible. Barrel & Roost is in for a long, highly successful, run!!
Great food and service, just like the old Restaurant Nicholas, but the remodeled interior, while very handsome and in keeping with the "upscale casual" theme of the new Nicholas Barrel and Roost, features numerous hard surfaces that turn the place into a deafening echo chamber. Also, parking on site is inadequate, so you may end up parking in the professional plaza lot next door or down the side street, then hiking to the restaurant entrance and, later, back to your car, possibly in the dark and after a few drinks, which is no fun and not the way you want to end your evening.
Pasta with bolognese sauce was tasteless, needed salt, pepper and hot pepper! No cheese was offered.
No salt and pepper on the table, none offered and when requested it arrived with not nearly enough for two dishes.
The burger was very good, the fries unevenly cooked and needed salt also.
Never disappoints. Food and service are fantastic. Great drink menu too.
Our server was super friendly, the food was AMAZING and such a good value. The outside seating area was beautiful as well. Noise level wasn’t that bad and we were seated immediately.
This restaurant used to be on par with Jean Georges in New York. Due to the pandemic they evolved to a very expensive semi-outdoor burger/pizza bar with some remainder of dishes from the old Nicholas. They have a very affected attitude without basis. The manager can only be described as RUDE. He threw credit cards back at a group of older people that even the waitress admitted has had their entire order “very screwed up” and told them there would be no charge and to never come back!
Excellent meal! Good food. Nice atmosphere. Good service! Will definitely go back!
Just always superb!
Our waiter ( Ryan ) was the difference. Great experience all in all!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our food and service couldn't have been better. Ambience was perfect. Very relaxing, great music.
