About Nice Matin
"Nice Matin, named after the largest daily newspaper in the South of France, gives the Upper West Side a splash of Provençal sunshine and a heady introduction to the cuisine of Nice, home of the pissaladière, pan bagnat and, if we are to believe the menu, a whopping big burger topped with comté cheese, smeared with aioli and served with a heap of rosemary-flecked fries. It's the best thing to happen to a hamburger since Daniel Boulud worked foie gras and short ribs into an all-beef patty. The pleasure is all on the plate, and it carries right through to the desserts.", William Grimes - NY Times.

Nice Matin Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent as was the service! Had to postpone reservation due to one member of our party being late - very very accommodating. When restaurant was full noise level was too high for meaningful conversation. We hung out a long time and as the restaurant cleared, we had a great time. Sat close enough to the next table to make friends and we did!
At lunch, there was a large selection at various price points -- many of them familiar dishes but with a different take: cobb salad made with crab, for example, chicken salad in a Moroccan style. A casual, airy and cheerful place, bustling and a bit noisy, but with tables not pushed too close together conversation wasn't a problem.
I decided to try Nice Matin after finding the restaurant on The Beacon Theatre site, since we were attending the "Il Volo" concert and needed something close by...boy am I glad we did.....Delicious Food, Great Prix-Fixe affordable menu, 3 courses at $35! My friend and I had the goat cheese mushroom tart, spaghetti w/ricotta, tomatoes, dandellion and bacon, and an a cookie platter that was quite devine with what seemed like homemade whoppie pies!Oh,we also ordered mussels which was an entree that we shared because we were so famished after we walked 30 blocks. Everything was excellent and quite tasty!!!And good service, which is hard to find! Definitelly coming back!
This was my third time dining at Nice Matin and unlike previous experiences, this was not relaxing and a disappointing experience. We felt rushed through our meal by overly attentive bus staff, who wanted to clear dishes as soon as one of our party stopped eating to take a break. In one instance, a wine glass was removed from the table, even though that member of our party had not finished it. It felt like the restaurant was more concerned in maximizing diner turnover rather than providing a fine dining experience appropriate for the restaurant's price point. If I wanted a rushed meal, I could eat at a neighborhood diner instead.
We had lunch here, sitting outside on Amsterdam. It's one of the nicest urban outdoor spaces in the city (assuming you want a Paris-style city view and not a garden). The outdoor seating is two tables deep and you don't feel that your crammed into table the size of a nickle. The food is excellent for what it is. I didn't check the "fit for foodies" box only because what we ordered was more cafe style food (arugula salad, pizza, pasta), but the food is very, very good. All in all a very pleasant experience. We traveled from Tribeca for the great combination of decent food, ambiance, good service and relatively moderate prices.
Went here with a friend for a quick dinner. He ended up getting two appetizers for his meal and I got the garden salad with chicken(when I ordered the salad I asked if they could add grilled chicken; when I got the bill it was $10 more than on the menu and listed as 'Chicken Palliard'). Mine was okay--bland chicken and the salad part was ordinary and slightly soggy. My friend's soup was also just okay. He also got the corn risotto, which was really delicious, but I don't think I'd go back.
Always visited for brunch but never dinner until now. This restaurant has the most wonderful wine list and excellent wine steward (Gabriele) I've experienced in some time. The list covers the high end and some amazing wines in great vintages that folks can afford. I would return just because of the wine service. The food was not at its best this night, perhaps due to our later arrival on a Sunday night. This would be no reason for me not to return. A real great place in NYC.
The food was great. But the service left something to be desired. We were seated by the hostess and not given menus. After waiting for close to 10 minutes we had to grab someone's attention. Then after ordering the food took forever to come out.
we sat down at 6:25 we received our food at 7:15.
