Food is O.K., but nothing exceptional. For me, personally, almost every item has something I dislike or don't eat - e.g. fennel, kale, bacon, polenta, etc. Why do restaurants insist on super unique menus without some basic foods - only the trout and the hamburger (deleted of bacon, aioli, etc.) are such foods. Place was quiet early, but soon got very noisy. Although I can recommend this restaurant, it wi with the preceding reservations.I have been here several times before, although not very recently, and do not recall such a menu in the past.
thoroughly enjoyed our dinner
we hade wild salmon, duck and hanger steak, tuna tartar and beets and we enjoyed all the food
We had such a nice dinner at NICE MATIN! The food was interesting and delicious. The restaurant is appealing and has a wonderful ambiance. The vanilla creme brulee was incredible!
Nice Matin is a consistently good restaurant offering delicious South of France food, with touches of North Africa in the menu. The ambiance is warm and unhurried and the service is stellar. It's a treasured stop whenever we come to New York.
We arrived at 7:45 PM. The sound level was still "boisterous" as I had read in a review. After 8:00 PM it slowly became more subdued. The food and service was superb. We look forward to next time.
The staff was so kind. The sommelier is skilled and gracious . She recommended a lovely wine. And when we quietly asked to move to a different table , she made that happen. We will keep going back to a great restaurant.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Very romantic. A little loud, but the place was packed. Wonderful service and even better food. Lovely place!
I have enjoyed this restaurant a few times over the years, as it is not near my area of town. This time the meal was truly exceptional. Both the food (potato crusted branzino and the cod with arugula) and cocktails were really fantastic! I will definitely return soon.
Excellent quality of foods and good value for money.
Great French food act affordable (for New York) prices. We definitely will come back.
Love this restaurant. Consistently excellent
From the staff to the food, everything about the experience of dining at Nice Matin was outstanding. We chose Nice Matin based on their restaurant week menu choices. We were not disappointed. The Parmesan crusted lamb chops were cooked perfectly. The sole Veronique was wonderful. The apple tart and Meyer lemon tart were a perfect ending to the meal. We will d3finitely go back.
The restaurant was packed and a bit cramped, even on a Thursday night, but the service was attentive and the food delicious. Multiple vegetarian options for appetizer, only one for entree, but it was hearty, filling, and appropriately priced.
Excellent service with quality food at reasonable prices (for NYC). Perfect amount of time between bread/drinks/starters/main course. Had passed Nice Matin hundreds of times in the last few years and this was the first time I went in - already looking foward to the second.
WAS HERE FOR RESTAURANT WEEK - LUNCH.
ALL OF THEIR CHOICES WERE THEIR BEST - INCLUDING ANY OF THEIR DESSERTS .
Combination of excellent food, great ambience and thoughtful service,
Creative cooking and a very nice and extensive wine list.
Nice Matin exceeded all our expectations. We definitely will go back there for a delicious French meal.
I've been here many times. The menu always has interesting choices and it's good value for the money
waited 40 min. for food & then took it to go. day before for lunch, food came quickly( fair ) and service terrible. had to wait 10 min. for oil & vinegar.
Nice Matin does not disappoint. First of all, the hostesses are careful to give you the type of table you want, in my case, quiet. Secondly, the food is dependable, especially the fish dishes, which are nicely cooked. I tried their "Italian salad" as an appetizer for the first time and it was very good. This was part of a nice prix fixe menu. The sommelier gave good advice about a Gaillac red wine. Because it was a cold Monday evening, the restaurant was quieter than usual, which suited us to a T. Great neighborhood asset.
Lovely restaurant. Food and ambiance excellent. Love eating at Nice Matin. Only problem is the bathroom. Dirty and smells.
Food was great. Everything we ordered was flavorful and fresh. There were some deliciously creative options and also the good old faves like steak frites which I always love.
Service was amazing, super attentive. We had show tickets and they made sure we were on schedule without being rushed. Very knowledgeable wait staff.
Now on to the most surprising part of the meal. The wine list and Sommelier! If you are a wine lover, and let’s face it, most of us are, then a visit here is in order just for the experience of the Sommelier visiting your table. So knowledgeable and friendly. But don’t let the fancy word scare you away! The price list on the , oh 2500 bottles I think he said, runs the gamut. You can enjoy affordable and recommended wines or go for a special occasion splurge. I’m sorry I forgot his name but either way he will make you feel like royalty no matter what you order and guide you to the perfect choice.
Next time we in the area we will be back.
The food and service were phenomenal, unique pairings and the cocktails were delicious and unique. Loved it will go again. So why 4 out of 5 stars? The restroom -- only two and not well maintained.
Excellent food and vibe.
We ordered panelle and salmon. Both were Very good. Desserts were amazing.... creme brûlée (best I’ve ever had) and an apple tart (unbelievably delicious). Service was excellent!!!! Will definitely return to try other menu items.
We were there on a Thursday night and it was really packed. Truly a neighborhood spot. I will definitely return to try different dishes BUT if I had the fish again, even that would be fine!
Honestly, this was a bad experience. Our reservation was at 7. At 7:15 they tried to seat three of us at a table for two. We said we would wait for a table that we could fit at comfortably. The manager said that they always use those tables for three, but I noticed that any three they tried to put there also refused. Both tables of that size ended up being used for twos. When I mentioned it to the hostess she said that it usually works if one of the three is a child. We didn't get seated until after 8. We didn't get a drink for another 20 minutes. We had to wait another 20 minutes for bread even though we asked for it twice. All three of our hamburgers that we ordered medium well came out rare. I have to say this was a bad night. The manager never came over to apologize for anything. It was just bad all around.
The Breakfast/Brunch food is still good! Fab location, too.
