We had a lovely dinner with friends. As requested we were seated at a quiet table and received very good service. Wide variety of food choices and it was a very good experience.
Waiter had a real attitude.
Food was delicious. Always is
Service was inadequate - slow and unresponsive
Love the place but it is too loud to have more than 2 people and comfortably. 4 is possible though difficult and any more you have to sit outside..
The service is always excellent. The menu has improved with the new chef - more variety and some good additions. The wine list is terrific and gently priced. The sommeliers are a huge asset - keep up the great work!
This is a neighborhood gem close to the Beacon Theatre! The ambiance, food and service are excellent. Great value for the money spent.
Wonderful dinner, loved the chicken pate mousse, steak Diane, halibut and warm chocolate cake.
My favorite neighborhood restaurant. Always look forward to going there and enjoying a great meal. By far the best Fries ever ate anywhere.
Sommelier was fantastic. The ambiance is lovely. The food was average.
We chose this spot because they serve a late brunch and merge into a small plates/ bar bites which was perfect for the various preferences of our group. The menu is smaller, but had what we wanted. Food is above average, but I did have to send my burger back to be done properly. The service was the downfall. Although friendly, they were incredibly slow—particularly the drinks. We we’re almost finished with our first course before drinks arrived. And then took about 20 minutes for second round to arrive after ordered. Atmosphere is nothing special.
Always reliable - service is attentive, food is uniformly high quality and wine list exceptional. A go to for any night of the week.
Everything we ordered was just delicious. Took a friend there for her birthday dinner. This place came recommended by a friend who spends every three months in France. I had the prix-fixe menu so that I could share the appetizer and dessert. The risotto and the lobster forte were to die for! Lovely flourless chocolate cake for dessert, as well.
Always good food, drinks and ambiance.
A neighborhoods staple. We’ve been coming here for years and appreciate the great staff and good selection of wines. It’s a very pretty restaurant with an attractive bar. Offers cafe style outdoor seating during the warm months of the year. We greatly enjoy the cheese platter, the arugula salad and the Ravioli Niisardi; our favorite!
Good wine list
Service slow. Hanger steak tough
The food is nice as usual. But the only problem I met this time is that, the steak is not warm when it was served.
Food just ok
The menu is very appealing and the food is very good. The staff put up with my party of five, including many special requests, and were both friendly and professional. I will be back!
Whenever I visit nyc I always go to Nice Matin at least twice during the week. The wine list is extensive and varied and the food fabulous!
Main Dishes were ok, the appitizers we ordered were terrible. bad choices
The best lamb ragu with pasta I have ever had!
The duck was a little more fatty than I would have liked and it was very hard to cut. I’ve been there many times and the food and ambiance is overall very good.
I ordered Skakshuka. What I got was a bland dish if eggs poached in a bland tomato sauce. Shakshuka is ALWAYS spicy and is ALWAYS served with pita. Inform you chef.
Additionally, I had specifically asked for a quiet table. I and my companioznswere seated at a NOISY table right in the middle of the floor. Disappointing, to say the least.
Also, consider putting a bread BASKET on the table instead of doling out a single slice of bread per person. Additionally, who on Earth puts a blob of butter into a dish of olive oil??? Butter is butter and olive oil is olive oil; why would you put them together??
I mistakenly wrote about our breakfast experience in the wrong review, so now I'm writing about our dinners at Nice Matin. Staying at the Lucerne Hotel next door, we ate here frequently and were always pleased with the dinner experience. There were enough entrees to please everyone in our party, and the service was friendly and attentive. We especially liked the salmon, chicken and rabbit, as well as several of the salads. The soup and appetizers did not turn out as well, but were OK. And the chocolate mousse was everyone's favorite dessert here.
We stayed at the Lucerne Hotel and had breakfast here 4 mornings. Three of those four experiences were very good, with good food and service. The other breakfast experience was marred by a sullen and neglectful waiter, who forgot part of our order, did not refill coffee or water, and generally ignored us. Fortunately he was not there the next three days. Our favorites were the oatmeal (with fruit & yogurt) and the delicious scrambled eggs with lox, and a dollop of creme fraiche sprinkled with chives.
We always have a wonderful meal at Nice Matin. The food is truly delicious and, as always, service exceptional.
We had a lovely early dinner here outside before heading to the Beacon Theatre. The waiter knew we didn’t have a lot of time and served us promptly. The food and wine were very nice. Would definitely go back.
Sunday brunch was very mediocre and the service is very poor
Love your mules frites!. Too bad we were seated next to someone who didn't have an "indoor voice."
Ill be back though.
Burger ordered rare but served well done.
Very happy to have found this neighborhood gem!
Food and service were excellent!
Staff is extremely accommodating!
We will return!
We were on our way to Central Park for an outdoor event. I had been there a few days before and had something to eat eat that was not good. We decided to eat before the event and this was nearby. The food was delicious! I rarely ever go out for brunch and I enjoyed this SO much. So did my friend. The wine was very good quality as well. We actually stopped back at the restaurant for a night cap on our way home from Central Park. The bartender was very nice. We told him it was the second time we had been there in one day. He got a kick out of hearing that! I highly recommend this place for classical French food. I will definitely go back there when I am in the area. It was outstanding.
Always elegant and charming, Nice Matin is my most favorite UWS cafe/restaurant
Did not have signature dish( mussels)
Just the place to have brunch on a Sunday afternoon. I could not finish my omelette! Nice atmosphere..
We had the ravioli nissardi - the braised beef with the two sauces. Yummy. The chicken paillard was heavy with char from the grille, and had too many onions in it. Service was fine.
Food and service always consistently good!
Unusual experience ordering steak . Overcooked twice . Never happened before even once in 15 years of patronage. I think the waitress was not listening
