What Insiders Are Saying
Nice Matin is an upscale French spot with lunch, brunch and dinner.
Food was good. Wait staff very attentive. Too loud to have a conversation at the table without leaning in to speak to your other diners. Temperature inside this particular evening was way too warm. All of us were sweating and we were not clothed in heavy sweaters. Id try it again perhaps at a lunch hour or earlier dinner to see if noise level is better.
The bouillabaisse was inedible, worse by far than any I’ve ever had.
The rest of the evening , including my wife’s and my friends’ dinners, were fine.
Service excellent and ambiance fine, as usual.
I eat at Nice Matin several times per year.
Food is always good, although a bit expensive.
I've always had good service, and they always honor my reservation.
A nice place for lunch on the UWS.
Lovely French Bistro excellent service and food
The food was excellent and so was the service. As a couple we 'shared' the Valentine prix fixe and a single entree and had plenty of delicious choices. Quite a nice evening with another couple. The only exception was the LOUD noise level making conversation difficult at time.
What an outstanding evening at this restaurant. Took my wife out for Valentine's day it was better than expected. Had the prefixed menu, the food was so savory even the dessert parfait was beyond my expectations. Service was polite and attentive didn't have to wait too long either. Only thing was the drinks were tasty but a little weak and portions to small. Really had no complaints though. My card gave me some trouble but we worked through that. Altogether it was a wonderful evening thanks to Nice Matin.
Very familiar with this res. The steak frites was greatly improved! Not the usual fried shoe leather that is served as NY strip but a nice steak and flavorful prep. Frites excellent as usual
They have a gluten free menu which always is a very comforting guide to the likelihood of a safe meal. In fact the omelet I order in a tomato sauce was delicious. We were uncrushed and lingered before and after the food. Very hospitable place.
Going at an off hour was much more quiet and enjoyable with friends.
One of my favorite upper west side restaurants . They have a slightly new menu and I was very happy with my new choice, crispy salmon.
Great meal & service
Food was just great and service too
Great drinks took a while but food great
We participated in the NYC Restaurant Week so we ordered from a set menu. I can't remember the french dish but will provide descriptions. So for our appetizers my wife and I ordered fried cauliflowers and a tomato based soup with bread. My wife loved hers but my soup tasted "fishy". I even said it was an acquired taste to be polite. Our entrees were braised duck leg with beans and I had breaded pork similar to tonkatsu in slices with sweet potato puree or squash puree and brocollini. My wife was not thrilled but I liked mine. It was nothing extraordinary about the taste. For our deserts, we got chocolate mousse and ofcourse a giant profiterole. I loved mine and my wife felt the same way with hers. Nothing can go wrong with chocolates. For drinks, we had a bottle of Pellegrino, an esspresso and a glass of Rosé for me. Our host,Caitlyn, was very charming! She served as well. Those other personnel who provided service were very friendly. Our bill amounted to $119+tax and tip. We said it's a date we splurge once in a whike and it's good. What isn't is the rush to go home in Jersey to use the loo because we experienced tummy ache half an hour into our train ride! in the way home! It's good we parkes at PATH JSQ and managed to do our business on time but it was not funny as we too were back to the loo twice in a row and slept with slighr tummy ache that night! Good thing, it's the weekend next day! What did you guys served?
It was a weird experience.
We did love the ambience and the servers.
Best French Bistro on UWS!
Lunch was lovely. Food was great. Waiter was pleasant, helpful and didn’t rush us. The only downside to my first meal here is that the restaurant is NOISY!!!! Now I know why my friends who have been there before don’t like to go with older friends!!!
loved the recipes - special!!!
don;t have time for more
The breakfast offerings were varied and the choice we picked was delicious. The staff was courteous and attentive. The service was on time.
Keep up the excellent service.
Wonderful meal with attentive service, food quality & selection excellent, prices comparable for the area, decor comfortable, seating fine, not crowded. Was pretty full, but sat us on time for our reservation. Entrees were well presented, cooked properly, met all expectations! Will return in the future.
Just what we needed — old friends catching up over a friend’s death — and the restaurant heeded my request and gave us a quiet table. Food good as always, and great menu choices.
Delicious food and wine. It is very difficult to choose what to eat, as it all appeals. Our group of three shared perfectly cooked mussels, an arrugala salad, tuna tartare, and a special burger, not to mention the best French fries ever! The wait staff was attentive.
Restaurant week menu on line was different than actual menu in restaurant. Disappointed. Duck was very fatty. All other food/drink was delicious. Service was good
Nice wine list, pleasant lighting and sound level. Vegan and GF options. Enjoyed dinner pre Lincoln Center.
Steaks for pre theater were not good cuts, and were super rare even though one of us ordered medium. I was surprised as usually the food is so good.
We were there early so it was quiet. When it fills up, very noisy.
Great food but pretty noisy, probably due to the two tables nearby where the men were drinking too much and laughing and talking too loudly. I love this place and will be back, probably in the next week or two.
This is my go to lunch spot! Always welcoming, nice vibe , good food , good service and fun!
We enjoyed an excellent meal at bargain pre-theater pricing (only available between 5-6 PM). Overall the food was very good. Highly recommend the hamburger. You will not be disappointed.
The food, service and atmosphere were all fabulous. We loved this place and will definitely be back.
Went for restaurant week. Prices were good but the food was just OK. Nothing really special.
A friendly neighborhood spot. We enjoyed the bouillabaisse though a few more croutons with rouille would have been welcome.
Chic french bistro frequented by locals. Great food and service
From the minute you arrive, you ar treated with such manners and proper etiquette. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food is delicious & well prepared-a foodies delight. By far the best restaurant during restaurant week
Went here for restaurant week. Nothing but great service and amazing food to match! I had the gnochetti which was really good and cheesy. The branzino was cooked perfectly and the parsnip puree it comes with was buttery goodness. The bread pudding dessert was awesome!
Nice people, nice food, nice ambiance, will be back
Warmly, professionally greeted, excellent service. Great menu. Terrific wine list. A gem!
Consistently excellent. Service gets 5 stars.
Nice matin is our favorite restaurant in New York. We discovered it in an ad in the program for the Metropolitan Opera, and have been enchanted every time we've dined here. Wonderful, classic, imaginative French food with frequent Moroccan additions, and luscious vegetarian specials. The service is impeccable, the staff is friendly and charming without being obtrusive. The wine list is sublime, and the deserts are delectable.
Superb fish and the Burgundy we selected was outstanding!!!!
The food choices are very interesting and well prepared. The portions are a bit small but the prices are reasonable. The wait staff is attentive.
