We didn't actually eat there because no one came to take our order.
The menu was also different than what you see on the opentable app which was very disappointing because I picked the restaurant based on the food offerings.
It was loud and seemed a bit dingy. I wish they had the food we wanted so I could give it more of a chance.
The food was great, and so was the service! We particularly loved our server Dana! She did a great job and treated us really well for my friend's birthday dinner! Thank you!
DJ was super loud at 6:30pm. Menu had recently changed from Mediterranean/Tapas to “asian”. I think it was a mistake. Mushroom salad was wilted and inedible, most sauces were incredibly sweet. The potato croquettes- a small appetizer - were the only truly enjoyable item we ordered. I can’t remember what else we ordered but it was not good. Service staff was very good, but the DJ was cranking house music for no reason. We were sitting out on the street and it was still very loud.
Great Asian spot, very flavorful
I was expecting Mediterranean food! When we got there the menu was completely different and it was Asian food. The food was still delicious. I just think the menu should have been clear about the change.
I hate to leave a negative review, but I want to make sure others know about this spot. Really disappointing experience here—for multiple reasons.
First, we thought it was a Mediterranean tapas place, but when we got there we discovered that it’s now an all Asian menu? The waitress explained they’re under new management and trying out a new menu, which is understandable and we gave it a shot as we both like Asian food too—but it just seems like they should update their restaurant description online to make sure customers are aware of this change.
Second, the cocktails we ordered were kind of sub-par, especially for $15+ a drink. Boyfriend said his Manhattan was awful, and my Aperol spritz was just meh (ratios of ingredients were for sure off).
Third, the dish I ordered was inedible. Ordered crab fried rice with garlic butter...rice was so overcooked it was the consistency of mushy oatmeal; it came out cold; I didn’t taste any garlic butter at all; and there were chunks of old crab meat mixed in with the fresher crab. Kind of looked like Starkist tuna actually :( I took one bite and just couldn’t bring myself to eat any more. I felt awful sending it back, but I just could not eat it, especially when you’re paying $20 for a small bowl of mush. Our server was understanding and brought me a different entree, and that was greatly appreciated, so as far as customer service goes I have to give them credit for making it right as best they could.
Again, I feel awful writing a negative review, especially to a place that’s trying to find their footing during a difficult time, but I felt it would be helpful to both the new management and future customers to have this info and feedback. Wish we could have had a better experience :( hope they can refine their menu, and update their listings to better reflect what the restaurant is now. Wish them well, but we definitely won’t be back.
We loved the new menu. And the service has always been great at Nia.
Delicious food. Nice atmosphere.
Thought this was a Mediterranean tapas place - it’s not. I’m assuming it was recently sold, but the name and website haven’t changed. It’s now serving Asian food. The food was good, just not what we were expecting.
AMAZING food and experience!! We had been once before and did the tasting menu, and our second experience was just as amazing as the first! The tasting menu includes an abundance of food, where you are sure to have leftovers. Bottomless sangria is the cherry on top. Service is top notch. I continue to highly recommend this spot to my friends.
Nia was there and recommended several dishes, we enjoyed each one especially the crab cakes.
Food and service were very good. Had a very friendly waitress and overall experience was great. Will be back again.
We loved the Restaurant week menu. There were a couple options our party of six couldn't decide on so they brought us smaller portions of both which was amazing. Our only thought was that a couple things should have been stirred or mixed a bit before serving. One guest in our party thought the risotto needed salt but mine had a ton of parmesan and was great. Stirring this in or recommending the table do it would've fixed this. The same with the grilled calamari, it must've been finished with some spicy chili oil or oil and chili flakes, which i received a lot and could barely eat and the rest of the table thought it could use heat. We will definitely go back next time were in Chicago. We all said we could've eaten those bacon wrapped dates for days.
We ate for Chicago restaurant week. The $48 restaurant week special gave us lots of food. However it was just average. The wine package for $25 Was literally a rip off. We got four small glasses of wine that didn’t even equal one and a half normal glasses. We will not go again.
We went during restaurant week and had an 8 course meal, which was all small plates. My favorite was the hummus and eggplant! My boyfriend also really liked the croquettes. I would definitely come back again!
My friends and I went on a double date here for Restaurant Week. We heard from other friends at work that the menu provided for restaurant week was awesome and they were so right. We got there early and had a few cocktails while we waited for our friends. I had an espresso martini and it was spot on. Our bartender was attentive and friendly and made us feel very welcome.
When reaching the table, we were greeted quickly. Our sever had read our table and could see that we were ready to go. Plates are served family style and come out pretty fast, almost like tapas but still in the order of the courses. The table was manicured immediately and we were provided new plates when we needed them.
BEST MENU ITEM: We went out of our comfort zone and got the baby squid; even the most skeptical at our table loved it. The mushrooms were another huge hit.
Couldn't have been happier with our night out.
Food is delicious and portions are perfect for Tapas. My friend and I got the restaurant week menu and it is such a great deal! Definitely try the tiramisu! Restaurant ambiance is also really nice, on the smaller size so it feels very cozy.
Timing was off when they brought the food to our table
Main entrees like the shrimp and beef tenderloin were nothing special. Bread pudding was amazing though.
The good was delicious!!
We went during restaurant week where they basically have a set of 8 courses that they are offering (2 or 3 different options for each course) with two separate price points. The wait was ridiculous. I think we waited nearly 25 minutes for the first course alone and although we had bottomless sangria (for the first two hours) it took us nearly 45 minutes to get the first glass we won't even talk about how long we waited to get the carafe that they finally put on the table. The food was mediocre at best. We left a considerable amount of money for food that wasn't great and the service didn't do anything towards compensating for the food. I wouldn't go back and was very disappointed by the restaurant - even after it was highly recommended by friends of mine who have common interests in restaurants.
Sorry for the wait time, however it's restaurant week and as hard as we try we can't always control wait times during peak hours. Reservation that come in late will only delay the tables that come in after them. Please come in a non restaurant week night I'm sure your experience will be entirely different.
Our dining experience was during restaurant week and three of the six course offering were good. The ceviche was really “fishy” the spicy potato’s were soggy. The worst was we didn’t receive the restaurant week special pricing and only until the next day realized the special prefixed meal price per person was not included. Would of been $16 +\- less on our bill - party of four. Now that finally dined at Nia I’m good.
I went here for restaurant week and it was amazing! Every course was delicious and our server was very accommodating when I was trying to decide between dishes. Great atmosphere. Plus our server gave me a $10 certificate for my next visit! I would highly recommend Nia to others
It was perfect for my best friend and I, who always share our plates anyway. The amount of food was perfect, and we actually had room to enjoy our dessert. Brooke and Dana, our servers, were phenomenal. Not only were they genial, when we were stumped on what to order (because literally EVERYTHING looked amazing) they were ready to offer recommendations, and EVERYTHING was spot on! The food was hot, fresh, and so damn tasty! I can't wait to go back, and I'll be asking for our same servers. Thank you, for a wonderful experience!
My friends and I went to Nia for restaurant week and had an unforgettable night. The tasting menu is perfect for a group and allowed us to try a wide range of items. The bottomless sangria was well worth the add on, but the best part of our experience was hands down the wonderful service. Our waitress, Brook, was so friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. The ambiance is warm and cozy and the small dining area keeps the noise level very low. Each course in our 8 course tasting menu got better and better. The steak was tender, the scallops were fresh and huge, and the gnocchi was out of this world! We would highly recommend Nia to everyone!
yes very friendly. The only suggestion I would make is that it is one of the restaurants that is including a 20% gratuity in the bill. They also include an extra gratuity line. It would be nice if they could publicize this practice a little more. Fortunately I saw it before leaving and was able to adjust.
They add 25% gratuity to the check FYI. And restaurant week menu you and your table have to agree on one thing for each category.
We went here for Restaurant Week... the experience was meh. Which surprises me that they are still on Randolph. Service was okay and food was mediocre.
Chicago restaurant week. Portions were much larger than we expected! The gnocchi, crab cakes and lamb meatballs were phenomenal.
Nice ambience, great food. Our waiter was nice enough to lend us a umbrella when it started pouring to get to our car across the street.
This place is a gem. Excellent food, service and a dj on a Friday night. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience
We loved this place! Super cozy and ambient , great for an intimate setting although we were a work group of 4. The food was out of this world , super fresh, cooked perfectly. The service was excellent. We can't wait to go back.
Great food, service, music!
Brooke, mgr, reservation-taker- Fabulous!
Very attentive from the minute the 4 of us walked through the door to dessert time celebrating 2 bdays!
Nia was not what I was expecting from a Randolph St. restaurant: still lovely decor but nice casual with reasonable pricing!
Amazing. We had our company holiday dinner here and our waitress, Brooke, took complete care of us. Looking forward to our next visit.
We always go back to Nia. Their tasting Menu is amazing.
We had a beautiful meal on a Monday night at Nia. The service was quick and helpful. We chose dishes from every part of the menu and each showed attention to detail and fresh ingredients. Highlights were the calamari with chickpeas and the escarole with beans. We will definitely be headed back there soon.
We absolutely love Nia and love all their food. The wine list is also amazing and our server Brooke helped us pair our wine with what we were thinking of having for dinner. 10/10 every time!
Amazing spot. Super charming excellent food.
Only people in dining area and we had to find our server twice. Seriously?
Great Restaurant with great food and service. I love the ambiance and location of the restaurant. Great for hosting small or large business meetings, team outings, parties, and dinners. I will be sure to return!
