   Very disapointed with your service since when we arrived at the restaurant it was closed. How can you send me a confirmation of my reservation to a closed restaurant! I felt embarrassed in front of my american friends because of this! I will neither recommand the restaurant to anyone nor your service!

   If your salad comes out 20 minutes after everyone else has gotten their food if should be taken of the bill. Especially it was your only meal. When we say we are ready for the check we shouldn't have to ask 3 more times to get it.

   I had to return the salmon because it was overcooked and also the side veggies were way too spicy ; it was impoosbile to eat that. The second plate was still very spicy and salmon too cooked again just less than the first one. They should get a better chef for that kind of 'fancy' place. Service was nice but not that efficient because not enough staff ; the view is really worth it and the terasse itself is very nice but that's it.

   We went there on a busy Friday evening during the holiday season of 2014. The online reservation process was easy, and when I emailed them with some questions I got a clear, prompt reply. I think the only disappointment was the area of the restaurant we were given: a small corner area by the bar on the 2nd floor restaurant with awkward sitting around a low coffee table. For a group of 15 there was no place to sit and frankly no ambiance. I think they could have anticipated (or consulted with me) to provide a more suitable arrangement. Thankfully we were only 8 and they could bring some extra chairs to create a sort of "living room" setting. Otherwise the service and staff were friendly, and the 2 for 1 happy hour prices fair. Overall it was a good experience for an office 5 to 7 but next time I will book with more time in advance so we get a place in the 1st floor lounge. We did not order food so I can't offer a comment on it.

   I wanted to take my staff out for a christmas lunch and thought Newtown would be a great place. I'd been there many years ago and has some very good memories. However, when we got there we were told that the restaurant ( upstairs) was open for dinner only so we had to sit in the bar area downstairs. Worst of all, apart from the three of us there were only two other people in the entire restaurant which made for a pretty depressing atmosphere overall. I actually apologized to my staff for my poor choice of restaurant.

   My girlfriend and I had reservations here for the 20$ deal going on as part of Montreal's citywide festival encouraging people to try out nicer restaurants for less. The waiter was fantastic. He checked up on our table regularly enough even though it was packed, the glasses never went empty and he made good recommendations. We were seated right next to the entrance, so it was a bit uncomfortable having people buzzing by back and forth. I would have preferred better placement granted we had made the reservations a couple of months in advance. Seeing as this was a type of new cuisine, we had the pulled pork burger for the main course. It was rich and very tasty, but it seemed a bit out of place for the venue it was being served in.

   My meal at Newtown was such a disappointment! After walking through the crowd of smokers at the front door we went upstairs where the hostess offered us a table behind her station. I asked for another table and she said everything was reserved. I reminded her that I had a reservation and I had made it quite a while ago. We sat down and a few units later she said that she had another table if we'd like to move. Wel were there for restaurant week so there was a special menu. None of the food was as described. The tapas was a plate of fried foods and fthe fish tacos were and over cooked flour tortilla with what might have been a fish stick inside cooked on a panini press. I wish I had more room but this was the worst meal in Montreal.

   I have been several times to the Newtown. Since last time they have changed their menu, which is clearly redesigned to attract a different type of customers. The menu is less sophisticated and more sports bar type. I will probably not returned to this restaurant, since their is plenty of sports bar food around.

   You may be tempted to book your group dinner here because they're one of the few that offer online booking but please don't make the same mistake we did. The service was horrendous. They pray on large groups as a chance to deliver inferior service and food. We were not offered drink or food menus until asked. Took an hour for us to get a basket of bread and a bottle of watered-down sangria. Our waiter also dropped a bottle of wine on the floor and then proceeded to serve it to us. I ordered the pasta of the day with shrimp and when no shrimp were on the plate, I was accused of eating them. This place was a service disaster and took a good shot at ruining what was supposed to be a very special night. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

    I asked for a Sangria... Was asked if I wanted white, red or rosé? Answered RED!!!! Got white... sent it back. Ordered pasta with garlic sauce, cherry tomatoes and parmigiano... Got fettucini in tomato sauce, 2-3 pieces of cherry tomatoes and did not see or taste parmegiano cheese! Hubby got a burger... Undercooked, raw in the middle, had to send it back to the kitchen! But the calamari were amazing! So,... as for the food experience, not a place we'll recommand nor will we go back!!!!!!
