Food quality was excellent! Service was exceptional and Inn owners are totally committed to providing their guests with an awesome customer experience! Would highly recommend the Orchard Inn and Newman's restaurant without any hesitation!
Absolutely beautiful restaurant with great views. Staff was very friendly and the service was excellent, which is why we were so extremely disappointed in the food. We also felt that it was overpriced for what we got. Please make sure you review the menu before you go and understand what you’ll be eating. Sadly, we will not return.
Great atmosphere, something different, the drive from greenville beautiful. Food was so good and the service was outstanding!
We got married at the Orchard Inn seven years ago and had our celebration dinner at Newman’s. We returned to Newman’s for our anniversary and it was as we remembered it. The ingredients were fresh and the service excellent, with panoramic views. Marc and Marianne, the owners, were so welcoming and made our special dinner even more memorable. We’ll be back next year!
We just celebrated our 31st anniversary here and it was perfect. The very friendly but very professional service is an outstanding coupling with the amazing food and the great wine. We have dined here at all times of year and the view is always beautiful.
This is a unexpected gem of a find. - That's the best kind! A beautiful Inn and Restaurant to enjoy anytime or on a special occasion. The ambiance is quietly captivating. What a wonderful place to watch the recent Blue Moon rise over the mountains and through the trees while enjoying an outstanding flavorful meal sipping Pinot Grigio/Gris, Adelsheim, Willamette Valley (OR) 2015!
Outstanding. Our first time here. Friendly & welcoming atmosphere. Excellent service. Food offerings are unique, prepared pleasantly to look at & very good. We definitely will be back!
A mother's day brunch and our server Lynn, again provided excellent service and her menu suggestions were perfect. In the dining room we sat next to the "Perry Como Table" and will be sure to ask for it during our next dining experience. Fantastic food and service!
We went for the Mother’s Day brunch. The food was good. The service was great. The restaurant is gorgeous. The price was over the top. We had a lovely time but felt very overcharged and underwhelmed. We expected more for the money.
We very much enjoyed Newman's last Saturday evening. We will definitely return. Pricey...
We were there for the Easter Sunday Brunch and thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous meal. Food was fantastic. Steak was cooked perfectly and all 4 entrees were served hot and beautifully. Our server was just delightful and gave us service above and beyond our expectations. We could not recommend Newman's more highly. A friendly atmosphere in a beautiful setting!
Excellent place for a special occasion such as our anniversary. Will return. Service, food, and surrounding top quality.
Food, service, and ambiance couldn't have been better. We love this place
Absolutely wonderful experience and fantastic food from start to finish. Service was exceptional, presentation was excellent and the meals were of the highest quality. This is our new favorite spot for a first class meal.
If you are staying at the Orchard Inn, be sure to enjoy at meal there. If you are in Saluda over a weekend, might indeed be fun. Food and service was very good. It was a special treat for my 70th birthday celebration.
We have had great experiences here in the past. For our anniversary, not so much. The salads, soup & deserts were good. The entrees were not. They had booked a wedding party for the dining area and you could not hear your own thoughts. At this point I may try back one more time. I live in the area and this is the only option for gourmet food. maybe I should say that it HAD been the only option.
So very disappointed.
We are so sorry you had a disappointing experience here for your anniversary and offer our sincere apologies. The wedding party of 18 was unfortunately very loud in their celebratory revelry, which was beyond our control. We wish you had mentioned something about the entrees to either your server or to my wife, Marianne, the co-owner of the restaurant when they inquired with you. We would have been happy to bring you different entrees. We hope you'll give us another try.
Overall a very nice experience. Food was good but nothing out of the ordinary for the price. I guess I had higher expectations.
Very special place. The inn is a step back in time with great views, warm and knowledgeable service and thoughtfully and exceptionally executed food.
Outstanding restaurant in every respect. We had the fixed price Valentine weekend dinner. The choices for each course were difficult because they all sounded so good. My wife and I made different selections for each course and all were excellent. The presentation of the food was superb. The wine suggestions for individual courses was very well done. Overall a great experience.
Gem of a place ! Absolutely fantastic !!!
Highly recommend, worth the drive
Everything about our dinner was amazing...from the appetizer right on through dessert. The restaurant is part of the main lodge, and has windows all around that look over the property. While it was already dark before we arrived for dinner, the ambience of the space is very nice and relaxed for the evening meal. They serve some amazing wines and also some craft beers. This is also the same space that is used for the breakfast included with accommodations, and the breakfast is also wonderful. These folks know food! At breakfast, we were able to sit and and enjoy looking at the mountains and watch the birds flock to the bird feeders outside the restaurant...again, very relaxing.
In regards to the service, the Inn owners are engaged with the guests, and the staff are all very friendly and attentive.
Great place. Weren’t crazy about the 2nd course choices tonight. But overall still a great place. My beef ribs were on the fatty side.
Valentine’s date with my bride. Wonderful meal and wine. Service was so cordial and friendly. Such a wonderful experience. Will return to enjoy dinner and to stay at the Inn too.
Lovely setting - My husband and I had the lump crab for Sunday brunch - absolutely fabulous! But,
that's not to say the first and last courses were also 5-Star choices.
The Sunday we went was a quiet day which was nice and relaxing; the staff was not as busy and
spent some friendly time with the patrons. We enjoyed that and felt we got to know them on a
Hope to be back more often. We enjoy fine dining and Newman's certainly offers that.
The chefs are the best in the area.
Awesome food at an awesome place. Totally enjoyed our dinner and the whole weekend with you guys.
This was our first visit to Newman's and it was for Sunday brunch. The food, service, view were all fantastic. And we had a lovely chat with the owner, Marianne. There certainly be many future visits.
Great food and service in a relaxing atmosphere. From the hors d’oeuvres to the dessert, the food was perfectly prepared and plated. The prix fixe menu provided several equally appealing options and the chef was accommodating on minor substitutions. Service was friendly and professional. We are glad we found this restaurant.
This is the best restaurant in the area by far. Not only was the food outstanding, our waitress took care of us and made us feel at home. If our wine or water glasses were empty, they would be filled. The chef even came out as requested so we could thank him for the amazing meal. Saluda is a bit out of the way for most, but it is definitely worth it to make the drive for the farm-to-table cuisine.
Always 5 star in every way . A special place with great food and great people.
The Orchard Inn is a hidden gem in Saluda, NC. You'll be greeted like family and impressed while you are there. Your Hosts are the proprietors, Marc and Marianne, they and their staff are hands-on, professional, knowledgeable and very personable. The panoramic views are phenomenal, the grounds are neat and well tended with private hiking trails. The menu selection changes day-to-day, are always unique and never disappoint! My wife and I have stayed with them on multiple occasions and have always been impressed with their menu creativity, wine selections and locally sourced ingredients.
I come from New Orleans where the food is wonderful and restaurants endless. Newman’s at the Orchard Inn was, hands down, perhaps the best meal my husband and I have had ever, period.
The service and ambiance were exquisite, perhaps near perfect.
Thank you, Mark and Maryann
Price fix dinner. Pork belly, trout, butternut squash soup and apple cinnamon creme brûlée. Well prepared and presented.
Outstanding food and service.
Two things. Our 30th Anniversary and our Lovely friend Jaine highly recommended you. Kathy our waitress was D-lightful! We were greeted and given appetisers while we waited for our table. Which by the way was the best table in the house. We sat in front of the fireplace with wine and looked through the very interesting book collection. Once seated our table had a elegant and lovely flower arrangement with a Happy Anniversary balloon in the middle of it. The meal was superb. Every course that came out was prepared not only for eye popping view but also extreme pleasing to our pallets. The desserts were amazing. Even as full as we were we could not stop at this point. The staff A+ , the ambiance A+ and the ending bonus we’re the two boxers who came out to see us out.
Food was amazing- I wanted more of each course but left feeling satisfied !
Newman's is the fine cuisine dining room restaurant at the wonderful Orchard Inn, a select cozy gem nestled near Saluda in the Great Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina about 30 minutes down I-26 south of Asheville. The inn has a spectacular perch overlooking the hilly countryside. The dining room sweeps along two perimeters of the inn which affords magnificent vistas for every table. Dinner is a 4-course tasting menu that changes from time to time so check their website. The food is first-rate in quality, preparation, and presentation. The only dish that disappointed was the roasted duck confit, which was dry, overcooked and cried out for a sauce, but everything else we had on two nights at the inn was superb. It is well worth staying overnight to take advantage of their wonderful breakfasts in the same dining room. Newman's also serves an awesome 3-course Sunday brunch which features a fabulous house specialty: Austrian Palatshinken, a crepe prepared with peach ricotta, almonds, fresh peaches, sausage links, whipped cream and a poached egg!
Although I highly recommend staying with the menu, my wife is a fussy eater and the kitchen was willing to make reasonable allowances for her. That was very much appreciated.
Marianne and Marc Blazar, the very devoted and personable owners of the inn, take exceptional care to make staying at the inn and dining here a great memorable experience. Their presence along with the carefully chosen staff adds much to the excellent spirit of the inn. This is now going to be a favorite countryside get-away for us from our home in Atlanta and we look forward to many future visits and great dining here. This is a magical place!
Excellent food, great view and service. A real gem in the mountains. We will return the next time we are in town.
Newman's is my wife's and my first choice for special occasions and to treat family and friends. We have eaten there at Sunday brunch and dinner. Brunch is a good value with a choice between breakfast choices and small versions of dinners. Choices are limited, but varied, for each course. Everything is perfectly prepared. Servers are friendly and helpful. We have thoroughly enjoyed each visit. It is small enough so that we were recognized and welcomed after a couple of visits.
Amazing place. You need to go
We live in Hendersonville and have done all the restaurants numerous times. With the traffic there’s no way we wanted to head to Asheville.
I went to Open Table and the Orchard Inn popped up. Ilene looked at the menu and decided to give it a try,
We walked into the door and were met by 2 friendly people. They offered us appetizers in the lobby. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was served in the lobby with the appetizers.
We were taken to our table with an incredible view of the mountains and finches frequenting the feeders.
We started with the most unusual, but delicious gazpacho.
The next course was perfectly cooked scallops and octopus.
The lamb chops were tender and well seasoned.
The Branzino was perfect with crispy skin.
Fortunately the desserts of creme brûlée and chocolate mousse/ pudding was so light we were able to finish all of it.
What a find. Definitely be back. Especially in October.
