A Louisiana tradition! Chicken & sausage smothered with Cajun spices and rice
Pan seared redfish topped with dill Bluere Blanc sauce, served with Creole green beans, and heirloom potatoes
The food was amazing and our waitress Mariah was even better!! The atmosphere was so nice and cozy. We will absolutely be going again.
We had the pleasure of being seated in Terrell’s section. He was phenomenal at guiding us to the perfect meal for each of us. All of the food we ordered was delicious. The interior of the restaurant with its brick walls is authentic and exactly what one would expect in an original setting. We highly recommend!
The service was lacking. One member of our party didn't get his food until the rest of us were almost done.
One of the appetizers didn't come until after the meal.
The courtyard was nice. I won't be returning.
Waited 10 minutes for a waiter just to get the menu and water. Ordered immediately, waited almost 30 minutes for my dozen oysters, they delivered 1/2 dozen and said they would bring the rest. 20 more minutes for the entrees to arrive, jambalaya rice was undercooked and dry, filet was shoe leather it was so over cooked and the rest of the oysters never showed up. The waiter never came back around. Found the manager and discussed the lack of service and showed hm the food. He finally sent a dozen oysters (which are delicious) and we got a 2nd glass of water. I would not recommend this place at all.
The food was great, prompt, and flavourful.
The wait staff couldn’t decide who would take our party of 9. Never even got greeted for 25 minutes. Finally went to the bar and Ray and Whitney were amazing!
The server was very good; her lack of support from the restaurant was obvious.
Great service! Ambiance food all excellent
The server was very nice, but not prompt and had to ask more than once what we ordered, our drinks came at the end of the meal, and didn’t check on our water etc.
Incredible food and staff! Thanks again
Excellent food and plenty of it! I had duck with cranberry glaze , delicious.... my husband had the catfish plate which was also very good. Service was fine and fast.
Has a beautiful courtyard as well as inside dining. Great service. Good choices of food.
We spent our last night in New Orleans having dinner here and it was really a perfect place. It was laid back and casual. We had a party of 7 with 3 kids so we made reservations, even though it was really needed. Our server was super nice and was helpful with explaining the items on the menu. The food was really good. Our kids like the shrimp kids plate the best!
My only issue is that we were seated next to the area where the staff has their prep space (behind a 3/4 wall). It was nice because we could corral the kids, but the staff was SO LOUD behind the wall that we could hear their conversations (seemed like they were just having a good time). It was super distracting and made it hard at times to talk at the table. Finally someone else on the staff came over and told them to quiet down and they did. I also noticed that two manager type people were berating our server as we walked out in a smaller area that said "staff only". I'm not sure what happened to cause this, but it was super unprofessional to talk to someone like that in view of customers.
I would still recommend it even with those issues. Good place to go with families. There is also a super sweet courtyard you can eat in as well.
Son 11th birthday…in town for Bayou Classic!
Negative experience overall. Visiting New Orleans and Had reservations on Thanksgiving day for a prefixed menu. Seated right away, but waited 20 minutes among servers that never even acknowledged us until we stopped one. He wasn’t sure who our server was, but decided to wait on us anyway. We then waited another 20 minutes before we received our drinks from the bar (at least we had water). Waited an hour from the time we ordered to receive food. Food was luke warm at best and tasted just okay. Patrons around us also very unhappy. Long ticket times, and food coming out cold. People started walking out. Restaurant was very ugly and dark inside, not the usual quant 19th century flare with candle lit tables. No communication between servers, kitchen, management, and guests apparently.
The food was excellent….once we were allowed to eat. Our order was lost twice. They were not prepared for the Thanksgiving crowd and were sold out of several things by 7pm.
Everything I ordered was truly not good. I had the gumbo for a starter and I’d give that a 0/10 and for an entree I had red beans and rice with sausage 0/10. No taste at all and the sausage had a weird taste. Now to the service. My waiter was so rude. He didn’t introduce himself, he didn’t go over the menu. He literally walked over and was like “YALL READY” we wasn’t at first and he left for like 30 mins. He was overall rude. Even dropped a fork on my back and told me don’t worry about it. I wouldn’t recommend. Ruin my thanksgiving dinner.
Was not happy with the whole experience. So not worth what we spent for a Thanksgiving dinner. I love NOLA but this was a bad experience with food.
Had Thanksgiving dinner and the food and staff were out of this world. Top notch establishment.
Very long wait for food. Mid afternoon and already out of key elements of meal - no substitute offered…. Food was lukewarm
As this is my inaugural review, strap in and get ready for a comedy of errors. We came for Thanksgiving dinner, and this was a monumental mistake on our end. Our reservation was for 3:30 pm and we’re seated at our table until 3:45 pm. Long story short, chaos was in store for us. We waited another 15 minutes before getting water, and we had to remind our waitress to take our cocktail orders. Another 15 minutes pass and she finally takes our food orders. Our waitress came back on four separate occasions to inform us our food orders were in and our entrees would be ready momentarily. THIS WAS A BOLD FACED LIE. In total, we waited two hours with no food, empty water cups, and a $40 bill for a bottle of wine. The manager explained three of his kitchen staff quit in the middle of dinner service and our waitress stated we were in a long queue behind others (which leads us to believe she forgot to place our order since four other tables received their orders when they were seated after us). To our manager’s credit, he sarcastically offered to go in the kitchen himself and prepare our meals. My only regrets were not bearing witness to the spectacle of half the kitchen triumphantly quitting and tearing meal tickets on their way out and storming out ourselves at the sheer audacity of paying for our drinks after all the torture. According to our server, the restaurant was booked for 800 reservations which is absolutely absurd. There were around 30 tables total, and management expected at least 26.67 turnovers per table in a 10 hour time frame? Sure, Jan. Thanks New Orleans Creole Cookery for making this holiday as memorable as possible! I’ll be sure to tell all my friends, family, acquaintances, neighbors, and random strangers on the street about your second-rate establishment. Happy Thanksgiving!
The food was served barely warm, not hot. And had to use a fork for my gumbo because they didn’t bring spoons in a timely manner. But ambience was nice.
I reserved this place for thanksgiving dinner for a party of 10. We were seated a little later than our reservation but that wasn’t a problem. We were seated outside which was great and the waiter took our orders fairly quickly. Unfortunately the food took 50 minutes to be served for most of us and 90 minutes for my wife’s order. I don’t have enough ink in my pen describe the disappointment each member of our party had with their meals, which ranged from watery, unseasoned, cold etc. Quite frankly I felt violated after this experience and with an automatic 20% gratuity and $300 bill.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
50 minutes wait for mediocre food better places in nola than this
Upon arriving I understand about the vaccination situation now in our society but to ask one for their ID and card but then not the other nor other guests is odd and then to proceed to be condescending about it and they were the restaurant manager not giving a great first impression and this being a holiday let alone having a toddler- every where being booked— luckily being locals we weee able to work this out and save our holiday and keep our toddler happy as well BUT due to this very unprofessional manager who gave a very rude first impression we will not be back to this establishment— that’s the best part about New Orleans there’s so many great places with amazing food!!
May I have a refund please. Please
Dinning room was a little hectic and noisy but, the service and food were top notch.
Delicious food, good service, but pricey. For a nice dinner out.
We made reservations but still had to wait over an hour to be seated and then another 35 minutes to get our food. Waitress messed up my order and we had to wait another 30 minutes to get the correct dish. Poor food quality all around. Even my son's hamburger was awful. The hamburger buns were hard as a rock. The calamari was greasy and mushy. The trio appetizer was a joke at $18! Save your money and save your time and go somewhere else. Restrooms were also filthy.
We made Thanksgiving reservations at the Cookery this year and ended up ordering off their menu and so glad we did. Everything was delicious. We will make sure to return next visit to New Orleans.
Let’s see first waiter was never seen after greeting. Took 1 hour to get a drink. Salad arrived after meal. Just a bad xperience.
We were seated and they forgot to assign us a server. We sat for 20 minutes unattended. Once we had a server, it took another 20 minutes to get a bottle of wine and 2 beers. The glassware was filthy, they were out of oysters, the boil arrived cold, and one of the dips we tried tasted bad.
Great food, and atmosphere. Only complaint was our server was not very friendly and kind of pushy.
Are in the French quarter while on thanksgiving trip
The service and drinks were great. The food was bland.
The food was ok, nothing special, especially by NOLA standards. The Wednesday 1/2 off wine definitely softened the otherwise mediocre experience.
Food was great and I the patio setting was fantastci
The Catfish Decatur was some of the best catfish I’ve ever eaten in my life! Soooo gooood. Everything was wonderful, even the server!!
Food not hot. Not everyone had food at same time. Out of menuitems
Good traditional creole taste. Everything we ate was good.
