The first BEST thing to say about New Leaf is that it IS walking distance from The Cloisters;then you can say it is pretty good for a bit of a tourist trap (see above!); and while we have eaten here before, we landed this day on Sunday, BRUNCH day, a bit of a hit or miss at a lot of places.
I was a bit turned off when I called the restaurant to get directions (walking) from the Cloisters as I was obviously parked in a different location and lost my sense for where it was; the host was so ungracious, so unhelpful and just plain NOT PLEASANT (he actually seemed annoyed)! A really bad way to start any meal at a restaurant, regardless of where they're located.

I went with out of towners. It is a beautiful spot to show off NYC.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere was extremely inviting. Beautiful location. Highly recommend it for a date or a family brunch after a stroll in the park.

Service needs work, we were ignored for our entire visit. One member of our party did not receive their meal until everyone else's plates had been cleared. They really missed the mark, but the food was good!

Set in a beautiful park it is a perfect meal after the Cloisters or just a walk in th epark.

Delightful unique atmosphere in the park. The best outdoor dining in the city as you are not on the sidewalk but in a beautiful park. Excellent fish special (branzino). I’ve been coming here for 15 years and have sometimes found the food quality uneven but this week it was excellent all around! Looking forward to returning to enjoy the weather and atmosphere!

the host was very personable and offered us a choice of tables which we appreciated. and our server, eduardo, was attentive and very informative re the menu. the food was very good. definitely will be back for another brunch!

We had a lovely brunch in the tent. The food was great and we felt relaxed and taken care of despite it being a busy Easter Sunday

I went there with my wife after running the Washington heights 5k run . This was our first visitwe both had a homemade cocktail that was excellent and tried a few glasses of wine which were very good and reasonable considering the beautiful location my wife had the juevos rancheros and I had the crab cakes which were very good and we each had the dessert special vanilla ice cream with a peach tart and we both thought it was excellent. We were never rushed and the service was excellent we never had to look to have our water refilled and our server was very attentive There is a great bar and alongside it were tables that looked out on the park which was great but obviously would be a little louder. We chose the back which had tablecloth service and was quieter We will be back in the spring and summer as we can see there will be many plants in bloom a great location for a birthday party shower etc

The wait staff was superb as was the food we chose. The only downside was a family that entered with an extremely unruly loud child. Other than that it was an extremely nice choice for our Cloister's visit.

This restaurant is outstanding; food was very delicious. Their selections of food and wines were excellent. The low lighting of the place fits perfect for a romantic dinner. The waiters were very attentive; checked up on us on average every 10 minutes. In addition the waiters helped me propose to my girl friend!

Host and wait staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Food was delicious.

Nice venue, lovely location, good service. Both table and chairs were wobbly. Overpriced (3 small profiteroles for 12! $4 for juice/regular coffee).

Not impressed...probably a local place...too far from the city to make it worthwhile unless you going to the park.

I wanted to go to the Cloisters after having taken a course in Medieval Art. My friends from Westchester agreed to meet afterwards for lunch. I've been wanting to go to the café for decades. It was worth the wait. Wonderful wait staff. During the week for lunch was a nice quiet time. We talked up a storm. The food was quite good - soup was yummy; grilled chicken sandwich was perfect. Breads were too good. This place made us all very happy. I would love to return.

Very rude host. Be careful - you may be able to make an OpenTable reservation but they will not have a table available for you!

The rest of the staff was nice, though. Good spot to eat prior to exploring the Met Cloisters.

I started with a delicious mushroom soup and requested some bread to go with. For my main course I was given incorrect information on what vegetables were in the quinoa dish. The waiter never asked how the food was. A good thing as it was oily and lacked flavor, an uneccesary disappointment. I stopped in there because of the lovely location.

Consistently slow service every time I have been here. Great spot for a visit to The Cloisters but I think they need an upgrade in service time. Lunch took 45 minutes to get to table.

The location is interesting and attractive. Unfortunately for one of us the accessibility is very poor and the path was not cleared of snow. The staff is friendly but ultimately uncaring. The food was good but on the salty side.

Our dishes were either good enough, or not quite up to scratch. Nothing quite lived up to the prices charged. The tiramisu was not even tiramisu (mascarpone folks, not cream cheese). They get away with this probably b/c it is such a special spot. But next time will order the burger and save my big money for a restaurant that earns it.

We went after a concert at the Cloisters for an early dinner. There was a wedding going on in the large room. We were seated in the bar room which is cozy. It was snowing outside and the scene was beautiful as it got dark. The waiter thoughtfully suggested we get our orders in before the kitchen was swamped by the wedding. All came in good order and was delicious.

This is a wonderful place to eat when you're going to the Cloisters, but it was unnecessarily noisy with some loud, unpleasant music playing in the background.

I love going to the New Leaf restaurant- it is one of the coziest spots in Washington Heights. However, I was very disappointed with the service we had yesterday afternoon for brunch; Our waitress was absent throughout our meal. We found ourselves constantly asking the busboy to track her down for us- and at the end helped us a lot of more than she did. First she forgot to bring us sugar for our coffee (busboy helped us out); We wanted another cocktail midway through our meal (busboy had to track her down); the last straw was when she brought us our dessert menu and didn't come back... for over 20 mins! She only came to our table because I went looking for her to ask for our check! Luckily, we didn't want dessert- but, what if we did? If the restaurant was crowded, I would've understood - but it was not- especially towards the end of our meal, you could've counted how many tables were occupied. I really do hope this was a one time snafu- and not the new norm.

Always a great place for lunch with colleagues. Our table was ready when we arrived. The menu while not huge offered each member of the party a very satisfying and diverse option. Great staff, pleasant environ! Will always go when I need to eat in Washington Heights.

This gem never disappoints! Don't tell too many people or we'll have to wait!

Burger and pulled pork sandwich were very good and tasty, tender and not heavy at all. Not particularly good the cheesecake, average and very expensive. We had our brunch on a sunny Sunday day in the outside tent, was warm, quiet and very comfortable... we leave in the neighborhood and it was a nice and convenient stop after a long walk in the park. We will go back for sure!

The service was OK; not outstanding. Hamburger was average- not the best, nor the worst. French Toast was seriously burnt- not all that good. Dessert was the chocolate mousse cake- not bad. Total was over $100, which was *not* good value. Average food but way overpriced. Would not recommend to a friend.

There was no parking due to filming - we had to walk quite a way. The restaurant is one of my favorites. Beautiful food & atmosphere. Afterwards we walked Fort Tryon and then the flower gardens — beautiful fall blooms!

We have been to the New Leaf a number of times and it always has been enjoyable whether we sit indoors or out in a very large enclosed tent-like area. The food is good and the servers usually are competent and friendly. If you are hungry at brunch, try the Croque Madame. Be prepared to skip dinner — it is rich and quite filling! Also very yummy. My meal mates like the Rancho Huevas quite a bit. The restaurant is not at all inexpensive once you add in the drinks and other beverages, etc., but it’s worth the expense.

Booked on Saturday through your site. Got a confirmation email. Turned up at appointed time. Closed for a wedding. So why are they still taking bookings?

Food was marginal, but pricey. We had lunch reservations for the time the restaurant was due to open. They opened late and were not ready to deal with customers. Menu options were limited for a brunch menu. I was hoping more considering the location. But it is kind of ho-hum.

2nd visit, not disappointed, just as good as the first...sat outside on a beautiful, it was great

Good points: The maitre'd was lovely. the location is wonderful and the seating is far apart in the patio area. The bad points: The food was really below average.
Huevos Rancheros was bland, bland with a dollop of bland, and my entree of pull pork sandwich was ok, but the fries were limp and a very small portion. Service was pretty dismal - our waiter kept forgetting things and disappeared for 40 mins.

A beautiful October afternoon. Visiting the Cloisters we decided to have lunch at New Leaf.
Sitting out on the patio was very nice. The food was good.. It was a brunch menu on Sunday. Menu could use a little more pizazz. The Bellini's and Bloody Mary were very good. Tables are not close together so you can have a quiet conversation. Service was not good. Waited a long time after being seated and waited a long time for entrees and for coffee. We enjoyed the beautiful day outside on the Patio it was worth it.

The food is good and the scenery is even better.

The service is unfortunately not good and rather absent. If don't mind waiting 20 mins for a drink then you are alright.
