Wonderful dinner with very attentive service. Everyone enjoyed their main courses, nice wine list - not huge but solid. Gin is a specialty and they have amazing selection. Owner came by table and when he learned our daughter likes dirty martinis, he brought a special infused gin for her to taste. Just a very nice time.

We arrived and no one else was in the restaurant (we had a reservation-table for three). There was only one waiter and one busboy but that was fine. We received our drinks and the waiter took our order and that was the last we saw of him. All of a sudden three more large tables came in and he was swamped-- we got our salads and then waited forever for our entrees- even though we ordered before the other large tables came in. We received our entrees and had to ask for more water - no other drinks were offered by the busboy and as I mentioned the waiter never came back but he was swamped with these other tables. We flagged busboy for bill and the waiter brought the check and just said "thanks"-no explanation or apology so our tip reflected such but really this is the fault of management- if all of these tables were reserved you know in advance it will be busy so GET MORE HELP. Poor reflection on your management style not on the poor waiter. Food was great but won't be back

This is a delightful, quiet restaurant with high ceilings and window views. Drinks are plentiful and the menu is varied and well-prepared. We think it's a too-well kept secret

The carrot ginger soup was excellent as was the branzino. They seemed short staffed and things like more water or bread took a while.

We have not been to New Heights for many years but we were very happy to return! The food was very good and it was lovely to see the very helpful and pleasant owner again! The restaurant itself could use a bit of a “fresh up” but the food was very tasty.

Don’t get stuck in the back of the upstairs. It was absolutely freezing- huge temp difference with the rest of the floor. They need to get an HVAC guy to balance things out. Also on a slow night we were there for a total of two hours. It took forever to get our food. The food was good but the portions were rather skimpy. No salad dressing on my salad and none was offered. I don’t plan to go back.

I’m hesitant to be so negative b/c the food was quite good, and it was a very pleasant setting, not noisy. But I can’t remember when I was last in a good restaurant w such inattentive service. Maybe it was just an off day where half the staff didn’t show up. Though if that were the case I would have expected an explanation.

The upstairs portion of this restaurant is a wonderful respite in the Wardham area. Lovely decor, smooth service, great choices of gins and home-made tonics (with interesting herbal mixes), and best of all--reliably, good food. I had the wild mushroom soup as a starter that tasted like wild mushrooms--field tasty. My scallop entree was beautifully prepared, moist, perfectly scented sauce, and ample. They even accommodated my request for one decadent scoop of their home-made dark chocolate ice cream. A fine dining experience that was friendly, quiet, and perfectly enjoyable. I will be back.

My friend and I tried New Heights because we had seen it while we were strolling in the area. The reviews are excellent, and it lives up to them. The restaurant is on the second floor. The decor is lean and modern, yet warm and comfortable. My friend and I had a window table with a nice view of the area. We began sharing a pan roasted crab cake, served with corn pepper relish and celeriac slaw. The spicing of the crab cake was unique, even though I cannot put my finger on what exactly was different. My friend had pan seared branzino for her entree. It was served with black rice, confit fennel, castelvetrano olive & smoked celeriac. I went with roasted arctic char, served with beluga lentil, dates, pickled ginger & spiced roasted baby carrots. We finished with a slice of cheese cake. As I wrote, the food and the service lived up to the excellent reviews.

Good food, quiet restaurant, easy to get a table. Good wine list and great gin and tonics with extensive selection and artisanal tonics. Decor is a little outdated and restaurant was only a third full on a Friday night. The service was a little much. Maybe because there weren't that many people there our server and busboy kept coming over ever 5 minutes, when we were clearly deep in personal conversation. Were constantly interrupted to take away plates with food still on them, or offer more drinks when our glasses were still have full. Took away from the pleasure of the dinner and good conversation.

This was my second visit to New Heights. I visited in February 2018 and talked about the food for months after. At my most recent visit, February 2019, I wasn't as impressed with the food. The steaks my friends ordered were tough, and my pork tenderloin was dry. Must have been an off night for the chef. The sides we ordered were delicious, and the dessert was good. The service is very personable and attentive. New Heights also makes great drinks, especially anything with gin. If you're unsure what to order, tell them what you like, and they'll pick out something for you. The restaurant is quiet and you can easily hear all your dinner companions. This is a big plus for me.

This was our first visit to this establishment. Fantastic restaurant with great service. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The menu is excellent, exceeded only by the preparation. Huge selection of gin. We thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine's day experience and friendly conversation with the owner, Mr. Umbi. The place has been around for decades. Mr Umbi graciously shared some memorable moments. One caution, parking in the area is limited, if driving to the restaurant, I would suggest calling ahead to see if valet service is available that night.

We have been going there over the years, many times with friends who had never been there, and every experience has been excellent. It has been there a long time and remains somewhat undiscovered (or forgotten) of late. Woodley Park Metro is the same block. Limited valet parking is available. The owner is terrific. Their bar on the first floor - The Gin Joint - is a small, cozy spot serving a wide range of excellent cocktails. The Shoreham Hotel is across the street. Excellent service.

I think their waitstaff was short on Saturday night. It took quite a while before someone took our drink orders. And then when we were ready to go our waitress disappeared completely for about 20 minutes so I had to enlist another waiter to get her to bring our check. No toilet paper in the ladies room. Otherwise good.

They were very short staffed the night we were there. Waited for everything from the water to the check. Food was above average however. My suspicion is that when the staffing is adequate is a very good restaurant that is higher than the 3-star rating I gave it for our experience.

TERRIBLE experience!!!! I rarely write reviews but I was misled by the positive reviews on this restaurant and want to warn others to avoid the same mistake. Maybe this place was good at one time or maybe they're going out of business or something??... there was no hostess, our server seems very stressed/ overwhelmed and uncaring. We ordered a bottle of red wine which was delivered very cold. The server poured it quickly while spilling it onto the table (no apology or recognition)... she later said that someone must have put it into the white fridge on accident and that's why it was cold. The food portions were ridiculously small and overall unimpressive! The "burratta" appetizer was actually just a thin slice of regular mozzarella cheese with about three cherry tomatoes... the crispy oysters were OK but had no sauce... the rest of the appetizers were unmemorable. The meals were a huge disappointment!!!! I requested my filet medium rare and it came out well/grey.. there was no sauce on it... Two others ordered the filet also and they were all overdone and over-seasoned. The filet also came out pre-sliced so it was obvious that they were over cooked but clearly nobody cared. I even mentioned it to the server but she didn't give me any apology or feedback. The pork tenderloin was literally 3 small medallions about the size of a silver dollar, also overcooked (not a dinner portion at all). The stuffed summer squash meal consisted of 3 medallions of zucchini/squash filed with @ 2 tablespoons of couscous... it had to cost less than $2 to make it (again not a dinner size portion). The gnocchi was just gross. We ordered a second bottle of red wine (requested something that wasn't accidentally placed in the refrigerator) and received a different bottle than what we ordered. The desserts were just OK. For 5 people, the bill was $480 and we all left hungry. It was honestly one of the worst dinners ever!
