Nellie's Southern Kitchen
Book your next event with us
We drove two hours to get to Nellie's - and it did not disappoint!! We would do it again anytime! We loved the food - honestly one of the best meals we have had in a long time - and the ambiance. Our waiter Stephon was wonderful, the live music was great, the restaurant beautiful - and we loved the wall of Jonas Brothers photos and albums. One of the waiters stopped us when we were looking at the photos and asked us if we had seen the Jonas Brothers Prime documentary and we said yes, and she said she had also and it just made her cry. How sweet she was!! Everyone who worked there seemed to really like it - which is rare. I would love to visit again when I could meet the owners. I want to hear more about Nellie!! Thanks for a great experience - I highly recommend - and will be back!!
My family and I stopped in on our way through town, and Nellie’s did not disappoint!! The server, Bethany, was so sweet and the service was on point! And the food was absolutely phenomenal. Since I’m not from the south, I always make a point of trying the Shrimp & Grits wherever I visit and THESE Shrimp & Grits blew all others out of the water! My nephew had the Molasses Glazed Salmon and could not stop raving about it all night. The atmosphere is both modern and welcoming, it was quiet, but not stuffy. I just loved it there!
I'm from California and spent a few days visiting my friend who moved to the area in January. She had heard great things about your restaurant so we gladly gave it a try. Our experience was amazing! Beginning with our very friendly and helpful waitress to the magnificent food, everything was superb and we could not have asked for a better time! I will be back and I'm sure she will be passing on her experience to friends, co-workers and future visitors!
A great place to have brunch with the family or an intimate dinner with a loved one. Live music was refreshing and the aesthetic of the entire restaurant was most welcome.
Second time I’ve been and both times service has been bad. First time I brought 15 people and the event coordinator got our order wrong and the food was cold. This time it took 45 minutes from when we placed our appetizer order to when we got it at our table.
Delicious chicken salad! Huge half sandwich. Fresh fruit. Very reasonable price. Loved it!
Look forward to going back.
The food was amazing. There was a little wait with our food because they had to heat up the waffle maker which took 20 minutes and the waffles took 4 minutes each to cook. Our server told the manager and she gave us a free dessert of our choosing for free. The wait was worth it and me and my family were stuffed.
Food was lukewarm.
We loved the layout and the service. Food was great.
We had a group of 6 and were celebrating a retirement. The food was great! Enjoyed the music and atmosphere. Service was good but could have been a little more attentive. However, the restaurant was extremely busy that evening and our waiter was definitely working hard to keep up. We have visited Nellie’s several times and would definitely recommend it.
Excellent food, amazing decor and outstanding service! We cannot wait to go back. Biscuits are out of this world!
First time dining here and will definitely return for dinner.
we will be coming back , love downtown Belmont N C , great food & service .
Great food and atmosphere ! Will definitely be back .
Nellie’s is where I take ALL my friends and relatives! Consistently excellent!
Great food and service
Excellent food and quick service ......wasn’t noisy, was able to hold a conversation!!!!
This was our first time eating at NSK. Sunday brunch. Busy but not crowded, rushed or noisy. Excellent menu choices. We had the chicken & waffles which was very good. Chicken was perfectly cooked and not overly coated or greasy. Also had the chicken and dumplings which was also very good. Neither was overly seasoned or salty. Live music playing but at background level and not disturbing. I would highly recommend NSK to anyone that likes good traditional southern food.
My party of 4 ordered four different entries and all four were fabulous! Can’t wait to come back.
I had wanted to try Nellie's for awhile and I was not disappointed. Every item me and my family ordered was great. My wife got a burger - excellent. My daughter had chicken fingers - excellent. And I had the chicken and dumplings - excellent. We will return again.
Love love loved it!!
Super relaxed and fun environment- love the industrial look and the amazing southern food!
Nellie’s was the perfect Southern Kitchen. I ordered the Collard Artichoke Dip as an appetizer and it was delicious and shareable for 5 people. The biscuits were out of the oven warm with butter and cinnamon butter. I also had the shrimp with Mac and cheese and it was to die for! Everything was amazing! I will be returning with my family soon!
Torture by biscuits? Hear me out - we ordered a basket of biscuits and had them on the table pretty quickly. They smelled delicious but could not eat them for 15 min while we asked the waitress not once but twice to bring us silverware and plates. Albeit, it was a late dinner so some frustration was fueled by hunger. We also ordered drinks, which took a similar time to get to us and then had to wait for our server to come back to get straws. It took an hour to get our food and the place was not packed on a Thursday at 8pm. All in all, the food was good, but the wait service definitely could have been better.
Beautiful restaurant, large tables so you do not feel cramped. Great menu and prices. We went on a Thursday around 7pm, ordered appetizers with our cocktails. Waited, ordered dinner, waited some more then the waitress informed us that they were out of their legendary biscuits and that was why the appetizers were taking so long. As she was at the table our dinners arrived so we canceled the other appetizers. Bar drinks to very very long, and they must have run out of water glasses because they gave us styrofoam. Good thing your food was incredible because we will be back assuming your server was just having an off night.
The shrimp and grits didn’t have much flavor. The fried green tomatoes were amazing. We shared desserts of pineapple upside down cake that was cold and dry but the peanut butter pie was delicious. I will definitely go back but will try a different entree.
Wonderful restaurant! Went there for Father's Day and had a wonderful time. The staff was nice & accommodating, service was quick and the food was delicious & hot! I will definitely return back to enjoy Jonas trivia night! LOL
This is my 6th time dining at Nellie’s and we’ve never had an issue but this time we had terrible service.
I always have a great meal at dinner but the Brunch was alittle under par. Being Fathers day I thought they would have brought their A game, but unfortunately not so. I will keep coming for Dinner and Lunch but will pass on the brunch.
Fathers Day brunch for a group of 8.
Ate on rooftop and enjoyed the ambience so much. The fried green tomatoes and peanut butter pie were the best ever! Our waitress Megan was super friendly and very attentive. Can’t wait to go back again sometime this summer
The flavor/taste of the food was fantastic. However the temperature of two of the four dishes ordered were barely above room temperature when served. The wait staff was very friendly, but most walked around the restaurant with a look of what do I do next, with our server being a bit absentee. The food was good and the atmosphere was very casual.
Came here for a birthday dinner. Loved the food and music! Ended with a drink on the rooftop 🍷
Not enough servers for a busy lunch, had to ask twice for beverages, wanted to take our order before asking what we would like to drink, food was cold and was not asked if we would like dessert. Tried this restaurant not long after it opened and meal was not good. Twice is enough for me.
Had a reservation. Upon arriving I was not asked about my reservation. Got a nasty gram from open table about not keeping my reservation.
Biscuits are cold, stale, drop style shortcake textured mass served with rock-hard butter and a skimpy tablespoon of strawberry jam.
If it isn’t fried don’t try it. Meatloaf is cold, grilled to dried defection of shoe leather on a off-tasting greasy flat top griddle and tastes like it’s mostly filler smothered in WATERY WHITE GRAVY. Mashed potatoes were an abomination like half set plaster of Paris in a puddle of watery white gravy.
No one ever came back to check on the meal. Waitress disgustedly brought check-never asking why the meal was not eaten. No management on the floor.
Parking is non-existent. Parking lot has 1entrance/exit and once in the lot it’s like a demolition derby to try and jockey your way out!
Don’t waste your time or money! Even telling the hostess of my experience brought no offer of remediation.
We visited on a Saturday around 11sm after highschool graduation. We had 3 BLTs and one biscuit and gravy our lunch was $50!! Way overpriced the food was good but not worth the price. The service was good but it wasn’t very busy either. I gave it another shot after a poor dinner experience and I’m just not impressed. The decor and atmosphere is spot on gorgeous inside! So I guess that’s what your paying for.
Food was delicious! Server was great. We will definitely be returning!
Great & inviting venue and design. But the food itself was very sub-standard & not worth the drive from CLT.
