Great shrimp boil with potatoes, corn and sausage. And really good cheese curds to split with the table. Awesome dining experience!
Amazing food! Took my girlfriend on a date there and she absolutely LOVED it - she's from Memphis so she knows a thing or two about southern food. Great service! Great music!
I had a great time with food and live music. Great for a casual not so formal date. Their Cajun food is really a welcomed change. Glad I came in, will do so again in the future
Server was fabulous. Very personable. Jackfruit sandwich was pretty tasty. Menu needs updating. Black bean burger was to be served with avocado. When it was served without, the server said they stopped serving avocados a couple of months ago.
The food was good but mostly I was impressed by the friendliness of the servers and the welcome we got there. They also had good bands. I recommend going. I don't eat meat but my friend said the pulled pork was excellent.
Amazing food and atmosphere! We will definitely be back!
Yes, we like Neil St. Blues and have, in fact, recommended it to friends. But we were deeply disappointed by them on Christmas Eve. We made a reservation thru Open Table with them for Christmas Eve Dinner. The reservation was confirmed by us the day before. Lo and behold, when we went there on Christmas Eve, the restaurant was closed. This created a huge problem as not very many other restaurants were open. The ones that were, were packed. This was NOT Open Table's fault as the restaurant never communicated to them that it would be closed and, apparently, never check to see if they had reservations. Very disappointed in Neil St. Blues and their lack of attention to their customers.
For Cajun/Creole style food, the flavors were very bland. The gumbo was served luke-warm and the Jambalaya was nearly flavorless. The Cajun style chicken pasta was basically Chicken Alfredo with no kick to it. For the quality of the food, the prices were high.
The food was amazing, the service was great, and it felt like a relaxed enough environment to bring my little one for early dinner.
The food was excellent. We truly enjoyed the blues group that was playing in the restaurant as well. Our server, Andrea was very hospitable and had great suggestions for sides/entree's. We split a couple appetizers - the lollipop wings were a huge hit with my son. Great evening and would definitely visit again.
Staff was very friendly and all our food was delicious. Especially liked the frog legs! Bonus was live Blues music, it was a wonderful night out!
Another Fantastic meal! So glad that when I order the same meal as before the flavor does not disappoint! Will be back again!
Neil St. Blues is PHENOMENAL! Friendly, attentive staff and the food is amazing. Generous portions and delicious. I had blackened catfish and it was superb. I can’t wait to go again when I’m in town.
Excellent service snd and the food was good too! Didn't have to wait on the food for very long.
Good time. Would go back with wife and other couple.
It could benefit from a little better ambiance in the dining area, maybe some actual blues music instead of 90's R&B
A lot of canned, pretty fabricated food with no real flavor. Nice omelet station. Great waiter.
It was a great experience next time I’m going to see the Live Band! Usually my Husband complain about food he told me “Baby Great 👍🏽 Choice!”
Great food! It's kind of loud in there due to all of the hard surfaces , but it should not keep you from enjoying the great food.
Outstanding staff and amazing food! The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and the servers are very friendly and accommodating.
Came here for my bday dinner on the25 th of May. The food was outstanding. The band was even better. I brought home the strawberry cheesecake dessert which I have no real words to describe that than tasting heavens. The drinks were yummy as well. Definitely going back. Please go you won’t be disappointed.
3rd visit and same OUTSTANDING and DELICIOUS food!!
It was graduation weekend and Mother’s day so our food took a long time to come. Our server apologized for the wait but it wasn’t his fault. Just a super busy weekend. Would recommend
Great food, somewhat confused service. Would definitely go back again.
They hosted our dinner after graduation - and everything was amazing. Food was great. Service was attentive. Would highly recommend.
Went in for an early dinner with the family. Very busy weekend due to Univ. of Illinois graduation. Wait staff was attentive and pleasant. Food was great. Environment was lacking. Seating is a bit cafeteria style. Minimal decorations. Bright lighting. Would love to go back, but not for on a date.
Great food! Very tasty. We had a variety of dishes at our table and everything was delicious. Good service.
My Sistah and I went for the Comedy Jam. It was great! The Speakers were Awesome and Fantastic. We really enjoyed them. The food was great and our server Ausha was great a very attentive young lady. We will be going back.
We came in with a group for Mom’s weekend after making a reservation on OpenTable. We were pleasantly surprised by the live music and the bands performance! They were fantastic!
Our server, Matthew, provided great service- so polite and always had a smile. Actually, all of the servers and bussers who stopped by our table were all very happy and seemed to really enjoy their jobs!
We ordered the Kool-Aid Fried Pickles and boy were they interesting! Something everyone should try! Guests in our party had the Vegan burger (excellent), burger, salad, and pulled pork sandwich (out of this world!)
Highly recommend Neil Street Blues Cafe for delicious, affordable food with great entertainment and exceptional service!
Excellent service and delicious food. Looking forward to returning to try more dishes.
VENUE OFFERED A UNIQUE MENU for this area. Hey-fried green tomatoes that were better than good.
Excellent ribs and several New Orleans style dishes (jambolai?, grits, collard greens). There was no music on our evening but we enjoyed our meal. The prices were very reasonable in contrast to the new "pricey offering in the downtown area. The wine choices were bare bones. This is a nice choice. We enjoyed and will return to try their other offerings.
Delicious food,I tried the seafood boil and gumbo, our waitress was very polite and funny😋
It was nice to go somewhere on a Friday night, listen to live music and have an outstanding meal. It is noisy, so if you want to talk, this is not the place. If you want great food, good music and to actually be around adults, this is the place. I will go back often. This is now my "go to" place.
Food was good but music was so loud you couldn’t converse. If we go back it will be to get carry out.
Food was great. Service was horrible! I will be back once they get themselves together.
Poor service, waitress needs more training if you want the place to stay open.
The service was rather slow but the food was excellent and the server very accommodating.
Good ambiance! We really enjoyed the wonderful and lively musician as well as the customers who jumped up to dance. Felt like we were in New Orleans. The food was good and a good value as well. Only issue was that it was so loud that we could not really converse. If you are looking for conversation, sit on the bar side of the restaurant - you will still be able to hear the music.
First Visit. I doubt I would go back based on this experience. I arrived at 8:03 pm for an 8:00 pm Open Table Reservation. I waited several minutes to be acknowledged. No staff in view, no bartender, no wait staff and no host. The older gentleman who was mopping the floor, stopped mopping and came over to tell me the staff would be right with me, (where is the staff?). Wait, wait, wait...
At approximately 8:12 pm, I sat myself in the bar at a high top table. At 8:17 pm I was greeted and asked if I would like anything to drink. Beer on the way...I ordered a sampling of items: Gumbo, Fried Green Tomatoes and 1/2 Slab of Ribs with cornbread and slaw.
The beer arrived and shortly later the Gumbo. The Gumbo was salty, lacked depth, richness and was overpowered by the salty smoked sausage. On a scale of 1 to 5, it gets a 2. The Fried Green Tomatoes arrived with a choice of two sauces. Commercial Ranch Dressing or Commercial Sweet Chili Sauce. I asked myself, where is the Remoulade Sauce? The tomatoes were clearly a commercial frozen product. They lacked flavor, seasoning and the breading fell off. Rating of 2!
Ribs arrived with the "hot" sauce. The sauce had an eerie red fluorescent color and had no flavor other than Hot. Again no depth or seasoning. Just a FLAT layer of hot. The ribs were seasoned with some type of rub that I cannot describe in any other terms than weird. The smoke flavor was actually the best part of the ribs. Although they were moist and tender the lack of balance makes them flat 2! I asked if I could taste the sweet bbq sauce as an option to the hot sauce and my sever got it for me. The sauce was overwhelmed by one ingredient; raspberry jam....a very odd bbq sauce, (IMO).
My two sides were equally disappointing. Cole Slaw out of a tub, and dry crumbly cornbread. When I asked my server about their overall vision for the place I was surprised when she responded with "Southern Comfort Food" because, in my opinion, they FAIL.
