Neighborhood Services Bar Room & Broiler Ratings and Reviews
This place is awesome and I try to go at least once every time I’m in Dallas. The one thing I’ll say—which isn’t really a compliant—is that if you make a reservation during peak hours, you should be ready for chaos and a 20-30 min wait beyond your reservation time. Used to annoy me, now I just factor it in.
We are very glad NHS has reopened and have been back a few times. Love the new decor and more homey atmosphere as well as the people who work their. We dined at NHS Friday and I always enjoy a good Burrata salad and was glad to see it on the menu. One thing I really enjoy about the salad is the burrata cheese and with this salad it was almost non existent so I labeled it BYOB, bring your own burrata. I had ordered the Mahi special which NHS had just run out of so I asked for the branzino which had way to may bones in the fish and was difficult to eat so I ended up sharing my wife’s half chicken which was moist and very tasteful. We will back but I now know what not to order.
The bathrooms were not working which seemed unbelievable to me given the # of guests in the restaurant. No special accommodations were offered. Their attitude seemed to be take it or leave it. Just not what I expected from a place that has a good reputation around town.
Birthday reservations easily made and, for what can be a very busy spot, were comfortably within 30 minutes of our desired time. This time, we tried menu items 'outside the box' - roasted chicken and king crab fra diavalo... with 'fried brussel sprouts'... our dinners were truly exceptional and Debbie's service was keen and appropriately attentive. This is a lively spot and can be a little louder than some, but our booth seats were very comfortable and we carried on lovely conversation the entire evening without 'straining'. NHS is a true neighborhood gem and worth the drive!
If you haven't been recently, they redid the menu, although they kept several of the favorites. The meatballs are really delicious for a starter and I always enjoy the london broil as their fries are wonderful. Service was great and it wasn't terribly loud.
A little gem of a place. Very tasty food, wonderful cocktails, good wine selection, scrumptious desserts. The waiting staff is very engaging and always attentive. The manager’s welcoming yet discreet presence adds the perfect touch to a great dining experience. One of my favorite places in DFW!
We have been here before but celebrating seeing family that we haven’t seen in months. There was only 5 of us and although we had a reservation, we got sat in the very back corner by the bathrooms for a table of 12. We asked to move but there wasn’t anything open at the time. The hostess had previously communicated to be that we would be sat in booth in main dining. Nothing to make you feel more excluded and not accepted as to be sat where no one else could see you in the restaurant. We had no vibe or ambiance back there. The table is great for a party but not for the intimate dinner we were trying to have. It was so large and uncomfortable. On top of that we ordered the London Broil which is what we always order, medium and it came out rare. Our server sent us a couple desserts on the house which was really sweet and appreciated. Overall, we love Nick and we love his restaurants but this night it missed the mark.
Our first trip to this location after the remodel. There was a fire, and I’m suspicious that they can’t cook over flame any longer at this location hence the change of the name to “Bar and Broiler.” We were curious how that would affect the food so one member of our party ordered the burger. It was certainly different but still delicious . There is a rotisserie chicken section on the menu where every dish under the section incorporates rotisserie chicken. The food is essentially the same well-prepared food, and service is as good as it has always been, warm, discreet, and well-paced. I just wish the lighting was a little bit better. I don't mind dim, ambient lighting, but it's even darker than it was before. But all in all, we're so happy to have one of our neighborhood favorites open again!
I love Neighborhood Services Bar & Broiler for get togethers with my husband and special friends! Food is delish and menu is not full of complex dishes (and I'm a foodie!). Servers are over the top...they know what to do and when to do it (Abby was our server this visit). Atmosphere is right on...my only suggestion is to rethink music. Atmosphere is energetic enough without rambunctious music...maybe my age but with a nice dinner I prefer music to blend into the background adding ambiance and not competition for conversation ...some soft jazz might be nice...John Coltrane's Music for lovers, classical guitar or piano.
It's an end of an era.
I used to love this place-the food, the hospitality.
We came here regularly for many years and our kids celebrated their birthdays here.
Tonights dinner puts that to an end.
The new menu is bland at best.
Since you no longer serve the kids dishes, we took your recommendation and ordered a kids pasta alfredo-it was over $21-for a 4 year old.
Our 8 year old ordered the flat iron steak. At $28 it was so tough he could not eat it.
My rotisserie chicken was so bland i barely touched it. The tune tartare was void of flavor and freshness.
Our $244 tab for a monday night dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids felt like an insult for the level of food and service.
In short-we're done.
Also-it was my birthday. You missed it. It was noted in the reservation.
We will miss the restaurant you used to be.
Whenever we want a great meal with friendly service, we head to any of the Neighborhood Services restaurants. We know that we will never have a negative experience and the food will come out perfect every time! We love that we can count on it for a consistently good dining experience!
I was really excited to see the new renovation and new broiler firthis place...but it appeared that not much was done to change decor and was not impressed with the new food items. The broiler I find is a rotisserie andmsinly chicken items. I dont know about anyone else but if I’m going for a great meal, thekast thing I want us anither night if chicken. Wait staff was great, drinks good but not impressed with new menu items.
Restaurant was recently renovated. The interior is beautiful and the new menu choices are fewer but the food was outstanding. We had asparagus for a starter and it was excellent, ythe fish and rotisserie chicken with sides. I recommend both.
It was my friend’s birthday and I had let the host know in advance. The waiter brought out a yummy chocolate sundae with a candle, The waiter was knowledgeable and we received the prefect amount of attentiveness.
Great food and always consistent. My only negative would be consistently when I book a reservations on Open Table for any Neighborhood Services restaurant, I get ushered to the back of the restaurant with my guest or near a wait station/bathroom. You feel a little like a second-class patron.
One of our favorite places. Had the steak frite and was perfect London broil. Tempura asparagus and Caesar to start really good. We often go on Fridays for the best weinerschnitzel around (available, alas, only on Friday and likely to run out half way through the evening).
This place has a nice cozy feel. I liked that it felt a bit more intimate and we were able to carry on conversations without feeling everyone was also in our conversation. Our waiter was super helpful as well as the bartender who made two amazing recommendations and also concocted her own version of a drink that were super spot on. The food was amazing and it did not disappoint.
We lunch at NFS every few months and usually are very pleased. This visit was odd and it appears they are having problems with kitchen help. We both ordered the chicken cobb salad - dressing on the side. Pretty simple dish. Mine came without avocado, my friend's was dressed so she sent it back. When it came out the second time - it didn't have chicken. So they had to redo it a third time. I did get my avocado. Service was fine, but the kitchen seems confused.
