About Negril Village
Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed “New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine”. The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico (i.e. Island Paella), and of course Jamaica (i.e. Jerk Chicken and Ackee). Set on two levels, the restaurants décor can be described as contemporary yet natural. The spacious dining room, on the upper level, boasts bamboo floors and seashell lined walls; while the Rhum lounge, on the lower level, warms you with its raisin interior, red lacquer floors, and in-house DJ. Live Reggae, Calypso, and Latin bands will further enchant you as you sip one of Negril Village’s many tropical drinks.

Negril Village Ratings and Reviews
The romantic yet vibrant ambiance is perfect. The food is perfect, full of flavor and overall beyond satisfying. We went on a random Monday night, got some drinks with our food and was pleased. I can just imagine how great it is on a Friday or Saturday night.
Always have the best time at Negril! Had some yard food (dasheen, green banana and dumpling) with saltfish, homemade ginger beer and THE best banana pudding I've had anywhere.:) I'm from Dominica so this is the closest I can get to nostalgic home food in a restaurant in NY.
Waiter, think his name was Paul recommended the sampler platter which was superb. I ordered the oxtails which was a little salty but ok. My other friends ordered the jerk salmon & loved it & another ordered the snapper. I ordered a Dark & Stormy (ginger beer & Appleton), it was STRONG and I drank multiple glasses of water. I was hoping to dance into the wee hours of the morning but was disappointed about the recent fire and the renovations are not complete yet.
We'd not dined here in a while due to inconsistencies in the quality of food. We decided to give it another try. The new look of the restaurant is quite lovely. The gentleman taking care of us was kind and thoughtful. That's where the delight ends. The goat was all bones and very fatty. The so-called supervisor came to ask of our experience. After taking the food to the kitchen she explained that goat has 'fat and bones'.... Then she shared she could not take the cost of the two plates off our meal because we'd not sent it back. Huh? You mean the plate you just took to the kitchen at my request ? The ineptitude deepens as she decides to 'remedy' the situation by taking five dollars and the tip off the bill. Negril is cosmetically improved yet food and management are mediocre and defy what used to be a good thing. Not recommended unless you like beautiful green walls and overpowering music.
Negril has fallen off drastically. The food isn't that great for the prices they are charging. Food wasn't made to order, as less than 5 minutes after ordering we where served. The food was lukewarm and lacked the robust flavors of visits past. I will only return for happy hour at most.
Food was not as good as I remember. I used to love the curry goat here but I found that this time, it was just average. Also the appetizers were delivered and we were given no more than 5 minutes before our main courses were delivered. So the pace of the delivery of the food to the table was a bit ridiculous. They added an automatic 17% to the bill which I found to be pretty rude. I actually would have left considerably more than that since I normally do 20-25% and the waiter was very pleasant but since they went ahead and did that, I really didn’t find the need to add anything extra.
I TOOK MY FRIEND HERE FOR HER BIRTHDAY AND WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND EMBARRASSED! THE FOOD WAS DRY AND TASTELESS! WHEN I ASKED TO SEE THE MANAGER, SHE ARGUED WITH ME AND INSISTED THAT THE FISH WAS NOT DRY. SHE DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE. WE WAITED A LONG TIME FOR THE WAITER TO TEND TO US. HE PRETENDED TO GIVE US COMPLIMENTARY CAKE WITH A CANDLE BUT CHARGED US $8 FOR IT! TO MAKE IT WORST, THERE WAS ONLY ONE BATHROOM FOR A PLACE PACKED WITH DRINKERS! A WASTE OF $150. THEY HAD A NERVE TO TAKE A TIP OUT! I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
It has been about 5 years since I last visited and it was well worth the trip. The quinoa stew was tasty and very filling. Our waiter was very attentative and made us feel welcomed. Several of the items felt super over priced but I guess that's the price of a Caribbean restaurant in the Village.
Dear Open Table
I would not recommend this restaurant. The day of my reservation they call me to say that they will not honor the reservation because they are under renovation until September. I asked it they notified Opentable system since now I was being left the day of my event to find another location.
Completely unprofessional. I would never recommend this place.
I went for my bday and got the 1 meal for two people. It was enough food. I also had side of Mac which wasn't cheesy inside or seasoned well. The jerk shrimp is bombbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!!!! Must get it, we had to get extra shrimp which is $3 each! The jerk sauce is very flavorful not too spicy. The chicken was okay, wish it had that grill taste. The salmon was okay and the mussels were good. Overall I had a great time just wished the Mac was better! I will definitely go back for just shrimp!!!
The restaurant was nice. The music was nice... very Caribbean feel to it which I enjoyed. The food was tasty but very pricey for what you got. I'm west indian so picky. They didn't have any plantain either smh. Also, the service was not good. Our waiter was nice but he wasn't around much at all. Once we got our food we didn't really see him again. They charge you gratuity automatically - so no incentive to give us any special attention. All in all, I'm glad I went.
