Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed “New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine”. The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico (i.e. Island Paella), and of course Jamaica (i.e. Jerk Chicken and Ackee). Set on two levels, the restaurants décor can be described as contemporary yet natural. The spacious dining room, on the upper level, boasts bamboo floors and seashell lined walls; while the Rhum lounge, on the lower level, warms you with its raisin interior, red lacquer floors, and in-house DJ. Live Reggae, Calypso, and Latin bands will further enchant you as you sip one of Negril Village’s many tropical drinks.

Food was good, but portions are small. I ordered the oxtail meal and they only put 4 pieces on my plate. The music was awesome. And gets louder as more people come in.

My husband and I went to Negril Village to celebrate his birthday. We were very pleased with every aspect of our experience there. Nicole, the Assistant Manager was very courteous and when out of her way to assist me when I called with questions on directions and reservation. We had a 6:00 reservation and were promptly seated upon arrival at 5:50. Our server, Gabriel was professional, patient, and well versed on the menu. He assured us that we would be able to receive and complete our meals in time to get back to Broadway for an 8 p.m. show. The food was authentic, well cooked, and delicious. My husband had the house Red Snapper , and the presentation was beautiful. I had the brown stew chicken, rice and cabbage, all of which were very good and the quantity was just enough. Our tab for 1 shared appetizer, 1 non-alcoholic specialty drink, 1 dessert and 2 entrees was $113.00 with the 15% gratuity included. In my opinion this was a bit pricey, but again the experience was a very positive one. I really appreciated the reviews everyone posted in helping me to make my decision to go there. I give them a thumbs up for customer service, food quality and quantity, and ambiance.

Negril Village would do well to look into their management practices of kicking people out at the two hour mark. It is rude and in poor taste for a restaurant. We were asked to leave even as my friend still had a full drink in front of her and we were about to order another round. I am disgusted by this action and, though a frequent diner at this establishment, am finding that I will not be back and plan to spread the word so that no one with whom I associate visits this restaurant until such time as this practice is ceased.

Arrived at Negril; staff was friendly and seated me in the preference of my choice. It was a rainy day, and my very 1st visit there. Tamika, brought samples of signature drinks; i went with the rum punch; which was brought by a very nice young man named Dominick. He was also our server. Disappointed by the cornbread, cold, very small, no taste. Although, i did eat the butter the cornbread came with; with the codfish fritters which were delicious!!! I also loved the avocado mousse. When entrees came out I was once again dissappointed; the portion size was small/ does nearly measure to the price we had to pay. BAILEYS COFFEE/RUM; MAJOR HOME RUN!!!!!!!!!!! LOVED IT!!!!! DID NOT CARE FOR BREAD PUDDING/RUM RAISAN ICE CREAM DESSERT; GAVE IT TO MY FRIEND. Know rents in NYC, R PRICEY; but try to at least give customers a little more; and improve on quality of taste in the dishes i disliked. Overall; i would visit again. Ambience /music, GREAT!!!!

Negril has always been known for its lively atmosphere, strong drinks and good food, although I always thought the food was a bit overpriced for the value. This was my first time dining here in almost 10 years and not much has changed. I had a reservation, arrived a few min early but still had to wait 10 min for my table. The staff at Negril were always a bit unorganized.

Our waiter was pretty attentive and very polite, despite the number of tables he had. I ordered the shrimp and grits and a dark and stormy cocktail. My entree was good, not great and definitely not worth $26. My cocktail was perfect; I wanted to order their famous rum punch, but I was afraid it would he too strong and I had plans afterwards.

Overall, it was a decent dining experience, but I am not rushing to return. Also, they have a lounge downstairs which should be free for those who order dinner, but unfortunately they still charge you and the place is a sweatbox.

The food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely visit again. We had the Negril Sampler for appetizer, and I had the Seafood Creole for my entree. Heads up: They're heavy handed with their drinks. Fine for me but not my sister.

Server was great there was a bit of delay when adding additional things to order after food was presented, not the servers fault I feel maybe the kitchen needs to iron out that process. He was apologetic and receptive to the issue.

The food was AMAZING!!!

We enjoyed our New Year's Eve dinner at Negril. The room we sat in was a bit dark and gloomy for a Caribbean restaurant at New Year's, but as time went on, the food and happy families celebrating more than made up for it. We started with the ackee tostones and cod fritters, all very tasty, especially after a squeeze of lime. The mac& cheese was fine, if a bit dry. Our main courses, spicy, briny seafood Creole, luscious goat curry, shrimp and grits, jerk chicken all delicious. Well seasoned rice and peas and stewed collards/ cabbage accompanied. For dessert, we had a lovely, buttery bread pudding, spicy, gingerbread-like black cake, and an unusually flavorful and moist version of red velvet cake. Our server, Linden was quiet and efficient on the whole. He apologized for our drinks coming after our appetizers, and brought us a complimentary colada. This was nice, but the drinks were a bit sweet for our taste. To note: tip is included and getting to basement bathroom is a bit treacherous. On the whole, we had a great time, and I look forward to coming here again soon.
