Negril Village Ratings and Reviews
This was my second visit to Negril Village. Once again, i was NOT disappointed. We had a reservation for 9 but a last minute addition was added. The host staff was great about accommodating our party size change and the service did not suffer. The food is top notch for Caribbean fusion brunch. All left with full bellies and huge smiles. Thank you Negril Village for making our friend’s birthday brunch a success!
My wife and I had a reservation for 9:30 PM. We arrived on time and were told that no table was available. We were not seated until around 10:05 PM. The waiter and waitress at the front were not friendly at all, no smiles or apologies for the long wait. What is the purpose of making reservations? By the way, this is the second time it’s happening. The first time, we gave them a pass.
The food was good. The server Tiffany was very nice, helpful and friendly.
They need to do a better job welcoming people at the front desk. Please be friendly and smile!!!
The appetizers and entrees we chose were excellent and the combination of flavors was great. Our servers were helpful, polite and knew the menu thoroughly. Reggae music playing while we were enjoying our food completed the great ambiance. If I travel to Atlanta in the future, I would like to eat here again!
This the highlight of my trip to ATL, the food was amazing!! My group of friends really enjoyed themselves. We went for Rum Punch Brunch, the Dj was on point and everyone was having a good time. All tables were singing and dancing. The buffet upstairs was perfect for the price. I will be back when I make my next visit.
Celebrated my birthday here with a large brunch party. The buffet was amazing, Negril’s food is always delicious. Live DJ was great and our waiter was spot on! It took us 40 minutes to get seated, almost felt like I didn’t have to go through the trouble of a reservation but they gave my a free birthday shot to make up for it. Highly recommended
I forgot to tell the host about our Open Table reservation. Should have remembered to do that! The ambience was awesome. Set in a former firehouse, it currently has a very urban vibe with great island music playing tastefully in the background. My Moscow Mule was great, especially because their ginger beer is made in house. I had the shrimp and grits. Highly recommend. The grits are to die for... coconut milk makes them extra special. Would eat here again in an eye blink.
My husband I were celebrating a special occasion(s). It was my birthday, and I had recently retired from USPS.
The food was OK. We each had the soup of the day as appetizers. Unfortunately, I cannot remember what it was called. It was some kind of fish soup, with a dumpling in the middle. It was quite good, and for me, the best part of my meal.
My husband had the jerk salmon, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the curry shrimp. The menu stated it came with jasmine rice. My dish arrived with grits instead of the rice. Was a substitution made? I don't mind grits and I was starving. As I desired to eat with my husband, I remained quiet and enjoyed the dining experience with him. The dish was ok. It had good flavor, but could have been a touch warmer.
Service was efficient.
The ambiance, for us, left a little to be desired. It was a big, open, converted loft/warehouse type of feeling. It had tall ceilings, exposed vents and piping. Unique for sure, but we were looking for cozy and comfortable. We were in a lingering kind of mood. Negril Village did not present itself as such.
On another note, when my husband made the reservation, he did note that it was a birthday and retirement celebration for us. Negril Village was certainly under no obligation to do anything. However, a simple "happy birthday or congratulations" from anyone at Negril Village would have sufficed. No one said a thing.
We went someplace else for dessert and an after dinner cocktail.
Food was very mediocre, I’ve had better Jamaican food at Golden Krust. We waited for over an hour even though we had a reservation . The hostess sent us upstairs to ask for someone and that person would seat us. Upon arriving to the upstairs level , the guy up there told us he had no room for us so we were sent BACK downstairs where we waited another 30 minutes . Needless to say, I most likely will not be returning there.
Great food, great atmosphere. As I was a party of one, the hostess sat me in the corner away from other tables and never checked on me again. But my waiter was friendly enough, if distant. Don't expect the staff to make you feel included or special, but the food is worth a visit.
I booked a reservation for a party of nine on Open Table and for my confirmation email. The occasion was my Birthday. On the day of the reservation, a hostess from Negril Village called me to confirm my reservation. She told me that my entire party must be there in order for us to be seated and had a ten minute grace period or the reservation would be lost and we not be a priority. I can understand that due to the negligence of the public when it comes to reservations. People should be on time when they make reservations. My friend, who arrived before me, brought me a cake and had the hostess put in the kitchen. When the checks come there is a $25 cake fee! They didn’t cut the cake or anything so you holding the cake in the kitchen cost $25? Absolutely not! Furthermore, they never mentioned a cake fee on the phone, Open Table or when my guest walked in with the cake. I asked for the Mananger and when she comes to the table the hostess who called is at the table and told me I was lying because she told me about the cake fee on the phone. How did you tell me about a cake fee and you didn’t even know I had a cake? After a lot of unnecessary back and forth the cake fee is removed. Also, they don’t tell you that there can only be four checks regardless of the size of the party. This is also something that should have been mentioned prior to our checks being brought to the table. How are customers supppsed to know these things if it’s not on the website nor does the hostess inform you on the confirmation call. Our waitress was so rude and took forever to any and everything! We were not a difficult group at all but she treated us as though we were. The food was excellent and the live music was loud but nice. Being fair it’s not an extremely large place and it’s a live band so you have to expect a certain level of noise. We waited for over 15 minutes to have our car valeted making us late for our reservation so depending on when you go consider the parking situation.
Went here for my anniversary and loved every bit of it! The only thing I would recommend is that the hostess comes to get you when the table is ready. I arrived slightly early and my table wasn't available, so I went to the bar. The drink was amazing. I had a margarita! Also, I wish that my entree didn't come directly after my appetizer (as asked). We received our entree literally 5 minutes after our appetizer and I didn't like that. Other than that, I loved it! Great service, nice and affordable!
On this occasion, we came in for light fare and drinks. We were served at the high-top bar tables (directly behind the bar) and we had a great experience. The ambiance/vibe at Negril is always top notch, our ackee appetizer was delish, and our Appleton drinks were spot on. Overall, a great experience & we'll be back again soon.
