Nebo Ratings and Reviews
Sadly, many things went wrong on Saturday night. First I was told by the hostess that she could not seat us until all members of our party were present however, the table right next to us we're seated and the rest of their party showed up 20 minutes later.....Our server was not to switft and we had to repeatedly ask for items 2 and 3 times and repeat all 3 courses of our meal twice; not what your would expect for this price point. The food was good but I would not say great. The grilled octopus appetizer was delicious as was the burrata and prosciutto. My branzino was cooked perfectly but the cioppino the other 3 members of my party ordered was sub-par; definitely lacked flavor. The ricotta torta for dessert was excellent!
Nebo is my favorite restaurant in Boston! I was a fan back when it was on North Washington St and our North End Moms group would meet there for dinner and drinks. Palotta sisters and their Mom always took good care of us, and they still do. Food is authentic Italian and delicious, and the restaurant has a great vibe at their seaport location. My significant other took me for my birthday and we had a great time! Anything I’ve ever had there is delicious, but some of my favorites are the mussels appetizer, broccoli rabe gnocchi and spumoni sundae (which they brought with a candle). Thank you!!!!
The burrata was really great but I find it silly when you're charged for bread to put it on...I don't recommend the ricotta gnocchi at all. Really greasy and odd texture/flavor. I would like to return and try something different sometime as the menu sounds very good. Our server was a bit pushy and visibly annoyed we were taking our time to pay our bill (enjoying conversation) even though there were plenty of other tables open.
Food was great as always, but was disappointed to be seated outside on a chilly late evening. Sort of defeats the purpose of making reservations, as numerous walk up got the same seating. The heating the put out there just doesn't do the trick this time of year. If this is their seating policy, then there should be some indication of this on OpenTable.
We had a fantastic dinner/date Saturday night. It was a cold damp night but once inside Nebo we were welcomed and made comfortable with a table by the window. Gracia, our server was so sweet, informative and helped me pick my wine for dinner. Would highly recommend.
The food was really great; the environment was great. The service wasn't so great. The waiter was really disorganized and they charged our cards to the wrong table. We brought it up to the manager and he took 0 responsibility. We didn't spend a whole lot on food this time, so maybe that's why, but now I'm less likely to come there again with a big group and spend more. Who is to say that the group with a $100 check won't have a bigger check next time? It's like that scene in Pretty Woman: "Big Mistake!"
Tammy was amazing!!! Request this waitress and you won’t be disappointed. Skip the octopus. Bread and olives rock! Diavolo and deconstructed cannoli are not to be missed. Bartender must live in space because drinks were out of this world. Tangiers, espresso martini, Bellini flight and Tito’s mule are just a few of the amazing creations!
I booked a reservation thru Open Table in advance. The valet parker was no where to be found at arrival which isn't Nebo's fault, but when your car is blocking a traffic lane on a very busy street, it seems there should be two attendants. Once inside, the wait was less than 5 minutes. There were three of us and one chair at the table was a metal chair. It was without a doubt the most uncomfortable chair I have ever, ever sat in, at all the many, many restaurants I've eaten at in my 50+ years. It made the dining experience almost excruciating, though I didn't want my son and niece to feel bad so I toughed it out. Horrible, horrible, horrible. The salad and the entrees needed salt and an offer of parm cheese would have been nice. It was very noisy on a busy Thursday night. The food was fresh, hot and well-made, but a bit bland (salt and/or parm would have solved that one). I might try it again, because they offer many gluten-free options.
The food was very good. My only complaint was the people at the table next to us were excessively loud. I think the manager should have come over and spoken to them about it. I had to shout over them so that my friend could hear me. My reservations were 5:30 p.m., so I don't think their noise level was appropriate for that time of day. I noticed TOO LOUD was not an option for the Noise Level. It should be added. Thank you.
The interior is fabulous and very industrial looking. The noise level is pretty high though so if you are on a business lunch suggest a table away from the crowd as it is hard to hear someone across the table from you.
I had the Milan sandwich. Chicken was tough and had to eat the sandwich with a fork and knife.
Yes - this is a five star. We dined here last night and loved every bit of it. We made a reservation, which I'd recommend as the place was filled up from 730-930pm.
Every effort has clearly been made with the restaurant's aesthetics. The high brick ceilings, the steel supports, the cleanliness and newness of the restaurant is throughout.
When you go for Italian in Boston, you expect to be cramped. Not here, the restaurant is spacious. Big guys can finally feel like they are not on top of the people next to him.
Our waitress was exceptional. She was patient and sincere and offered many authentic recommendations with candor. Not easy to do on a busy Saturday night.
We ordered, mussels, calamari and Caesar salad for starters. The mussels were dense and flavorful and the perfect size for a starter. Calamari is calamari, but their's is light with just the right crunch. The Caesar was delicious and topped with a pile of white anchovies and Reggiano.
For entrees, we went with our server's recommendation of zucchini lasagna and scallops with lemon zest fettuccine. My wife referred to the fettuccine as the best she has ever had. Both dishes were plentiful and spot on.
The food was so good that we even ordered two pizzas to take home.
The Pallotta sisters take a lot of pride in their restaurant and it shows. They were both on sight and checking every table and greeting many guests and making everyone feel welcome. When an owner works the floor of any shop or restaurant it shows. This place is great and we will be back.
We ordered a Bibb salad with balsamic vinegarette and olive oil. You could not taste any vinegarete so we asked for vinegar. A gentleman came over and said they don't have vinegar. I found this odd for an Italian restaurant. So the gentleman brought what would say was more olive oil. The salad had no taste to it what so ever. Supposedly their bread is made from a secret recipe. It didn't taste any special to me. I had linguine with clams. The clams were tiny and not native from here. The meal was average in flavor even though they make their own pasta
We were able to get a last minute reservation on a Saturday night which was great. Ordered some personal pizzas, but the topping selections weren't great so just ended up with a traditional :-/ My date got the prosciutto di parma, housemade fig jam, gorgonzola, mozzarella and the gobs of sticky fig jam and gobs of cheese were sloppy and allotted too much for one bite. The Bud Light tasted good though.
The food is always great here. however, this past visit the service was unusually slow and the waiter was fairly unknowledgeable about the menu. After looking at our CC statements it looks like Nebo charged us something different than what we had written on our receipts.
My wife was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease. Her birthday followed shortly thereafter. We both had great gluten-free dishes. Octopus appetizer for us both, scallop pasta for her, zucchini lasagna (with added Bolognese sauce) for me (try it!). All recommendations from server, spot on. A little loud when we got there, it mellowed as we dined. Great meal and good to know it wasn't impacting my wife's health. If you have Celiac disease and want a special meal, by all means go Nebo. Heck, do the same if you don't have dietary restrictions!
The inside of Nebo was too loud to even stay. Luckily, it was a warm but breezy day, and we sat outside. The service was ok - long pauses between attention, never brought cream and sugar for the coffee, and generally was on the slow side.
The food was good - but I would like to try Bobby Flay's lasagna. I was surprised it was an award winner.
