Navy Proof Food & Spirits re-awakens the jovial ritual of the sailors of our past, swapping maritime stories over the rationed spirits they held so dear. “Navy Proof” was a term coined by sailors for the daily rum rations given to them by the British Royal Navy in the 1700s. The historic tale says that the sailors would “prove” the strength of their rum rations by pouring it on gunpowder & igniting it to ensure it had not been watered down.

Overall the venue looked classy and they put up nice Christmas decorations at the main lobby of Westin hotel. My husband and I brought my parents to Navy Proof for dinner. The appetizers were good, but sadly, the sea scallop dinner did not meet expectations. The whole dish was completely salty. My dad and I ordered the same dish and we both did not like it. However, my mom and husband loved their salmon and pomegranate jidori chicken. The other issue we had was the access to Westin from the parking lot. All the signs that should have led us to the elevators to the hotel led us to a different building. We ended up being outside in the rain still looking for the entrance to the hotel. Everything was so strange. In the end, it was a hotel customer who gave us access to the side entrance since he had a card key to let us in. Also, it was very dim inside. Very poor lighting to think it was Christmas time. We are not going back to Navy Proof again.
Still giving restaurants the benefit of the doubt in later-COVID times, I tend to be more patient with sub-par experiences. After being promptly greeted and seated, waitress took drink orders which were delivered quickly.
Food orders were promptly taken but food delivery seemed to take an unusually long time. After food was dropped off by runner (not waitress), we never saw or heard from anyone until all 3 of us were finished eating!
Eventually one plate was removed from table but not the other two. One dessert to share was ordered which took so long to deliver (more than 15 minutes), we almost left. In fact, we were ready to cancel the dessert because we had theater tickets... but again, no one was in sight to tell.
Food - Meat Flatbread (pizza) was good. Cobb salad was thorough and fresh. French dip sandwich was OK, but nothing great. Found a dime-sized piece of bone (certainly authenticated real roast beef, but almost caused dental repairs) and fries were so salty, they were hard to stomach.
Summary: Food 3, Service 2.
Hopefully things will be "like before" soon.

Let me start off by raving about our waiter. He was super attentive and courteous. The food was delicious. We would definitely return.
Reservations were easy and accurate, service was very professional and non-intrusive, food was excellent. Overall experience for our family was outstanding!!
We made a reservation based on them having outdoor seating. When we arrived, we were told that they did not have outdoor seating due to Covid, which seems odd. We were told we could order our food to go and take it anywhere. We opted to go to a nearby taco place that had service on a patio.
This restaurant needs to update their seating options.
Didn't realize this was a hotel restaurant in the lobby, but food and service was great nonetheless. Staff a little stretched due to reunion group that walked in unexpected, but servers were still attentive and food came out timely and correctly. Cocktails and food were delicious. Just wish it was a little more secluded off the main lobby, hence the 3 stars for ambience.
This is a hotel restaurant and bar. It is situated in an open area near the hotel entry and lobby. As such, the ambience is a bit lacking but it did feel “COVID safe”, due to the open, airy location. The drinks were inventive - my cocktail had an edible overlay of a female lounging in a beach chair on top. Table next to us received a smoked highball (Manhattan?) delivered with a flourish under a dome of smoke. My Cobb salad was uninspired but edible. My husband had a tasty entree called pomegranate jidori chicken which he liked. The chief benefit of this place is its proximity to the Long Beach terrace theater. We were able to park under the theater and walk across the street for dinner, then back in time for our show. Our waiter was very pleasant and accommodating - he asked if we had show tickets and made sure we were served in a timely manner. I’d eat here again if I had show tickets.

Never actually eat, from the website it appears look a great restaurant, food looked pretty good. When we showed for Valentines Dinner we found out it was basically the Lobby Bar at the Westin hotel. The dining room was basically in the lobby area. Almost no separation and zero sense of intimacy or privacy. Honestly looks like a great lobby bar but not a great date night restaurant. I suggest they revise the identity they are building on the website to match their reality or find a new location.
The only issue we had was the drinks too a little time to get to us. My Guy spoke with 'James" the manager and he corrected the problem ASAP and even paid for a round. I loved the place, the wait staff was excellent. I am sorry forgot her name( Veronica? Jessica? 0) I am sorry I forgot -Young girl black hair with braces... Sweet and personable... Loved the drinks. I got a coffee and cigarette. I just quick smoking so I don't think that was the best choice lol... But, it was still good. Try the booty -its refreshing and tasty.... Over all the place is nice, Not loud, Not over crammed -Just very nice...

My friends and I were very unimpressed with this restaurant. Normally, a hotel restaurant has high standards for service and quality. Not this one! The wait staff were polite but aloof at servicing their customers - more interested in hanging out at the bar and talking amongst themselves. The food was mediocre; the pasta lacked flavor and the salmon was dry. The saving grace were the wine and desserts!

We tasted almost everything on the menu and it was BAD. Took way too long and waiters seemed to be high. Not going back, not recommended at all!
Literally no one ever greeted us at the host desk, even though they made eye contact from across the room. They just went back to what they were doing...we’re talking at least three different employees. So we went to the bar, and sat down. Again, LITERALLY, actually, in real life, THREE different bartenders looked us dead in the eyes, and continue to ignore our existence. I never complain on line, as I am a bartender myself, and my friends are servers. But, it was so bad, we got up and left. It was actually disconcerting to have people make eye contact with you, and then completely pretend you don’t exist.
Who knew such an interesting place would be inside the Westin lobby. While certainly lovely it is still a lobby. That said, the restaurant is worth a trip. The menu is creative and filled with potential. The drinks are similarly creative and delicious. I highly recommend the smoking scotch drink and the "Booty". The disappointment was actually in the delivery of the food. We had a collection of small plates, wings (good seasoning but way overcooked), fried green tomatoes (very good but surprising added beets were so small they were impossible to find ), sliders (very good) and the street corn (surprisingly bland). I want to believe with increased business and time this will grow into it's potential.
The food that we got was very good, and that's about all I can say that's good. The restaurant is really just the Westin hotel bar which was filled with convention attendees when we arrived. Service was very slow. Our waiter apologized for drinks taking a long time by saying it was hard to get the bar's attention. We ordered Nashville hot wings for our appetizer (not hot, but very good) and it took a very long time to get them. We thought about going elsewhere for dinner but we didn't. We ordered one entree of scallops to split (the hot wings portion was large) and two side dishes. One side dish (brussel sprouts) came out in about 15 minutes. Then after we were done, the other side dish (fries) came out about 15 minutes later. We then waited for the main to come out and finally told the waiter (when we could find him) that if it wasn't ready, we would just take the check. He came back and apologized saying that it wasn't coming very fast. Uh, right. It wasn't coming slow either, apparently. We gave up. He took off two drinks from the bill but we left frustrated since what we had eaten was good.

Checked in past 7 pm and did not want to go out for bite. Luckily, Navy Proof is conveniently downstairs. Ordered cocktail and burger. The burger had two patties, but it needed bacon and cheese and some pickled veggies. For $20, it had generous amount of beef, but I wish it was more quality than quantity.
The food was good. But that is all. We were sat at 9:15am for our reservation.
We waited over 10 minutes for our server. He came to the table a total of 4 times. We completed our meal at 11am... almost 2 hours for a "quick breakfast" is ridiculous!
We ordered Bloody Mary's and a fruit plate which each took about 30 minutes to come out. The Bloody Mary's tasted like Pepperoncini Juice and Tabasco. They were awful!
Food took a while to come out too, but was good, so okay. But you better believe as soon as we were done the (manager?) was there with the bill dropped before the plates were even done being cleared. That was the ONLY fast part of the service.
Apparently our server had gone on break and we sat there for another 20 minutes waiting for someone to come to pay the bill. After waiting, I got up and walked to the bar to ask if we needed to go to the front to pay. The bartender took the credit cards, then came back to the table to ask how we wanted to pay. Then another person came up and asked if we were ready to pay I told her I'd already given the credit card to the bartender. It seemed that she didn't understand and asked again about our payment... ugh!
Once the credit cards were brought back to the table, she hovered, and waited for the credit cards to be signed. At that point my friend was in the restroom so her card was not signed yet. She asked if it was ready, I said no. Before leaving the table she asked again if it was ready, I said no... again.
While hovering, waiting for my friend to return from the restroom, she asked how our experience was. I told her about the issues that we had. Her response was "Bad experiences are a part of life." Nothing else ...just wow.
Did the DineLBC menu which was excellent and great value. The presentation and flavors were great and the service was also very good. Yes, worth coming for cocktails and or dining.
You sit in the lobby of the hotel? Server didn’t seem to know the menu, was not attentive, food took forever(even after server said 4 more minutes), food was cold and just not good. It is not worth the $, or time.

Hotel lobby bar/restaurant with not much separation from the lobby. Although the setup leaves you wanting a more private and intimate dining experience, the great food, decor and service makes you quickly forget where you are.
