Navy Beach Ratings and Reviews
We will definitely back!
We went to navy beach during a vacation in Montauk for a date night. It was a week night so it was still busy but not too packed. The outdoor seating is relaxing and welcoming, the views are great of sunset, and the food was really good. We had the crab cake and salmon for dinner, with two of the cocktails from the menu. All was delicious.
Our waitress Kerry was great! After a long wait, she realized our crab cake was delivered to the wrong table and made sure our food was delivered quickly. She also offered a round of drinks to compensate. Definitely made navy beach a great experience being so honestly and friendly.
My second time at Navy Beach and it was wonderful!! Our waiter from last summer remembered us. That says a lot about the friendliness of staff! We spend the entire day there, had lunch and a late day snack along with a few bottles of the Sancerre Rose! AMAZING!! We dined on the Short Rib Tartare, the PEI Mussels (so good!!), corn on the cob, truffle mac and cheese, lobster roll and the edamame. Not one complaint. We had a lovely time, we were not rushed out at all. We can't wait to go back next summer!
Went on Thursday afternoon for late lunch with reservations. The place was perfect. Easy. Summer. Montauk Beach. The food was overall good, but with some misses (A well done cheeseburger, instead of a medium well hamburger that was requested). The service however was lackluster. Had to request same item a few times, no one asked how meal was, had to find waiter for additional drinks. I get that it wasn't prime time, but we felt like the fact that we were there was pointless. Not how I want to feel when I'm spending my money...
Apps were great we had the mussels and fluke. Dinner was good we had the scallops the sauce was delicious and the lobster bake which was ok the lobster was slightly over cooked. The service was awesome and the view was great! We sat somewhat counter top staring out at the view it was the perfect kind of table for us! I also loved how they add money to the bill for the Navy Seals! I also suggest dining and hanging out to watch the sunset. We will definitely be back next time we are in Montauk!
The fluke Crudo was pretty bad. The pickled vegetables vs fresh ones didn't help. The whole dish felt very stale. We went on a Friday afternoon and while there were plenty of people there, the place really lacked vibe. There was no music playing and the tables were either too far apart or communal. Odd setup. The place has real potential given its location. We enjoyed watching the boats go by. Not a bad time but a bit of a let down. Not as riviera-esque as I've heard it been described.
This is a wow place (I can only speak for lunches, as we have never had dinners at Navy Beach). We love the nautical decor and the beautiful waterfront view, but the biggest wow factor at this restaurant is the food - truly mind-blowingly amazing, Navy Beach's dishes are up there with some of the best Michelin starred seafood restaurants in the city - love love love Navy Beach.
Afternoon lunch in September, so we had an entire sectional on the beach to ourselves. Service was not really with a smile, but it wasn't rude either. Everything we had on the menu was tasty and presented wonderfully for the setting. Not crazy about the yuzu butter take on edamame, but it wasn't terrible either. Love this place and would go back.
After seeing raving reviews about the sunsets at Navy Beach my fiancé and I decided to make reservations for the one night we'd be spending in Montauk. We weren't sure about the food, as the views seem more noteworthy in most reviews. But we hoped for the best.
We got salmon tartare, the tilefish dish, and the Montauk seafood Moqueca. Everything was amazing! We ended the night by sitting on the couches with our wine and watching the sunset. In our 5 years together this was definitely overall our best/most memorable dining experience. I cannot wait to visit again!
Dining ON the beach with your toes in the sand makes this a truly perfect Montauk spot. Small plates or more, we, family with two teen boys enjoyed amall plates of sweet mussels, beet salad, and spicy margaitas, ribs and fresh lemonade for a pricey 140 without gratuity.
Our last lunch experience on a friday afternoon was less than divine. We had a reservation but they could not seat us outside...although most of the outdoor tables were empty. Hostess was incredibly rude....Maybe we were not hip enough? We sat inside in the bar area...window seat....took forever to get service. Salads were horrible. We paid bill immediately and left....to eat at another favorite MTK lunch spot. I have been dining at NB since its opening....and have never experienced anything like this. Hoping it was just an off day.....and does not mean we will not return. Still a local rotation for us....for girls lunch....group lunches....and bringing our kids. Although the crowd has gotten a little too risqué on the outdoor beds....so not sure how kid friendly anymore.
Was very upset with the drink selection!! The mix drink I ordered was pre mixed!! When asked to put some pineapple juice in it I was told they have none!! Found that very strange for a fully stocked bar! The food was ok but the sunset was amazing!! I would recommend getting there late so you can enjoy the sunset!! It was a must go to ...... At least once!!!
Navy Beach has a location for the best sunsets around. But, except for that, our experience was terrible.
Our waitress never introduced herself and rushed us through the night. The food was average, not bad, but really not great. Don't visit Navy Beach when you are hungry, because the portions work well as appetizers. That would have been easier to take if the place wasn't so overpriced. This night turned out to be a $300 disaster.... With only 2 drinks!!
Let's see....what was my favorite part of the night? It was either when they brought in a hand truck and wheeled a full garbage can through the ding room......or when they began to reset our table before we received our check..... Tough call.
We are regulars to Montauk and we go everywhere to eat. Some places are great, others, not so much. Fine dining, dive bars...we like them all. Combine the horrible service, lousy value, and general rushed feeling, and this would rank as on of our worst experiences in Montauk.
If you feel the need to be seen, fine. Otherwise, you can do better anywhere else.
The only positive it's on the beach with a gorgeous ocean view. Our waiter never told us the specials. My husband ordered the Clam Bake, his meal arrived on the wrong dish he needed a large soup bowl platter for his over cooked lobster and shrimp. Besides that they didn't bring him a sea sheller to crack his lobster claw open not the tiny fork to get the meat out from the claws.
My entree the Buttermilk Fried chicken was too dry and had syrup dripping all over the place since its in a fryer type of dish with just a piece of paper lining it which was all torn.
I would only recommend for drinks to see the gorgeous view.
The atmospher is casual. The restaurant sits on the beach. They valet park your car, as the parking lot is small. Our waitress was very knowledgable about the cocktail and food menus. We ordered salad and appetizers only. I had the beet salad, which was very good and a dinner size portion. I also had the truffle Mac and cheese, which was also good, not great, but good. We started with a cocktail drink from the menu. They have a good selection. We ended our meal with key lime pie, which was good and large enough for the two of us to share. We were there on the summer solstice and the full view of the sun setting over the ocean on a mostly clear day was the icing on the cake.
Navy Beach is a MTK gem.....amazing view of the LI Sound.....great for kids to play on the beach while you sip Rose and have lunch, great service and good food. Has become a bit of scene in the past few years.....with hipsters/boats docking etc.....but still a favorite for outdoor scenic dining.
