Underground delivers an intimate experience where you can Drink, Taste and Hear
Nashville Underground celebrates the rich history of Music City combining all the
elements that make Nashville so unique.
This is a must see in Nashville. The fried chicken Mac and Cheese was incredible. The live music blew me away; three Acoustic guitarists taking requests. We ate dinner in front of the stage and it was like we had a private concert.
We had 1 free night during our conference, and wanted to go somewhere casual downtown with good food & live music, that wouldn't break the bank. These guys delivered! It was a Tuesday, so not at all crowded. The music was great, & not so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation. We tried several different things on the menu, but we all tried the hot chicken, & it was amazing! We went for hot (there was 1 level higher, & we didn't go there), which I found to be hot but not painful (varying opinions on that in our group), & not so hot it masked the delicious flavor. I rarely order fried chicken in a restaurant, because I'm worried it will be too floury, too greasy, or bland. This was perfectly crispy, not greasy, & certainly not bland - wowza! Fried green tomatoes were also perfect - thick slices of heirloom tomatoes, light breaded & perfectly friend, with a tasty sauce lightly applied. They had a good selection of draft beers, including some local favorites. Our server, Ben, was delightful. Super helpful without being pushy or intrusive, made great recommendations. I'd definitely return next time I'm in Nashville!
We had reservations; our hostess was great. I wish I had caught her name. Our table was ready and she sat us immediately. Our server, Sam, was so inattentive. We never got another round of drinks, our food order was wrong. When we finally flagged her down to bring it to her attention, it took a long time to get the correct plates. She never checked back in on us, we had to ask another server for our check. Seemed like it took a long time to get that too. We heard about the Underground on a tour we took, so we were excited to try it, but sadly, we’re pretty disappointed.
Very slow with food
I would have giving no stars if that was possible. When we checked with the man at the front door he seemed confused so I explained we had an open table reversatuon and that we were there to dine. After the man checked with the other person at the door they sent us to the 2nd level where there was not a single person!. We looked around a bit and left. Most strange experience ever.
Seemed very unorganized and lacking in staff. We walked in and didn't know where to go, had to ask about ordering food, and they didn't even realize people could make reservations on OpenTable. Probably will not go back!
Birthday party, great food, good entertainment, poor service.
We enjoyed the evening! A great place to experience Nashville hot chicken! Our server Taylor was great!
Took an out of town guest here to experience downtown Nashville and we had a beautiful night! The view was amazing and the food, staff and music were great! Highly recommended,,,,the rooftop experience is unforgettable!
VERY slow service. We waited 45 minutes for our food and we watched our meals come out of the kitchen and sit on the bar top for 10 minutes before it was brought to us. It was very cold and I had to get up and find someone to get us a manager. We then had to get up and ask for our check.. it was a very bad experience..
There is absolutely no point in getting a reservation. I reserved a table online after calling the restaurant numerous times to receive no answer. I understand this was a very busy day but the lack of professionalism was not needed. Upon arriving to the restaurant we were greeted by no one at the hostess stand and a massive line began to form. After finally asking a very nice security guard he informed us that reservations weren’t happening despite multiple tables having a “reserved” sign on them. Luckily another group who had a reserved table allowed us to join them. If an establishment is going to accept reservations it needs to stand by that decision. Additionally, any building on broadway during the SEC tournament and a holiday weekend should be fully staffed. Bar patrons were left confused at the entrance as to how to find seating and what to do about their reservations. I am completely understanding of the situation and know the crowd probably grew far beyond expectation. However, that is no excuse for the levels of inadequacy displayed that day.
We reserved a table for 4 at 1:45pm and when we arrived at the restaurant, there were no open tables or anywhere for us to sit. We could not find a manager and was told they couldn’t do anything about it. Horrible customer service.
Do not count on having a table even with a reservation. We came 10 minutes before our reservation and they had no table for us. All they could say is that they jad no tablea anywhere in the building and that we could try to get a seat at the bar. We were hoping to enjoy a dinner, but were not given any options except to leave.
There were clearly people who had recently been seated as they still had menus. They obviously didn't give priority to the fact that we had made reservations. They didn't even seem sorry about it nor apologize.
We were sorely dissappointed and then had to go figure dinner out for ourselves during a busy Friday night on Broadway. We would have definitely made different plans, had we known.
We came to Nashville for a fun get away weekend - I had booked dinner reservations via yelp for the underground based off the cool things they had to offer on their website.
Our reservations did not go through on their end for some reason - I showed the manager in charge our reservation confirmation. He basically said good luck finding a seat Bc they were packed and he couldn’t offer us anything - not even adding our name to the list. We then had to go outside to eat on the rooftop, where it was at least 35 degrees at...no heaters for outdoor diners - very little accommodation for guests and our food was cold due to having to sit outside to eat it. I wouldn’t recommend this venue and won’t be back for our next trip to Nashville - as the management did nothing to help us out in this situation. Also - there was still options to reserve more spots on Yelp with them while we were there eating dinner...but they couldn’t add our name to the list??? 🤔 so who knows how many ppl had this experience. Poor management
We had an amazing time. We had a very difficult member in our group. And our server was never phased by her. The food was perfect the Ambiance was amazing. The drinks were on point. The underground was the highlight of our visit
We got a great spot on a couch next to the stage. The service was incredible! The band was amazing! The only complaint is that the food wasn’t terribly impressive. It wasn’t bad! It just wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. We would definitely go back though!!
Music was pretty loud at first but the band was really good! Food was really good too!
Great new place! Can’t wait for warmer weather to enjoy rooftop!
Band was amazing. Food was great and we had the best server.
Food was just ok but the band was great and service was good
Nice facility, good service and really good food. Ramen soup bowl was delicious as well as the hamburger. Looking forward to going back again.
I knew we were in trouble when we got there and NO hostess and a sign that said Seat Yourself. I told waitress in bar we had a reservation with open table and all she said was ok, do you want atable or sit at bar? 15 minutes later she returned to finally get our drink order. We had a drink, couple appetizers and then left. Band was so loud and our seating options were beside band or bar. Don't know whey they even use you guys but not your fault.
Stopped in for dinner after football game. Good was really good and very reasonably priced. Beer was ok and lots of tvs to watch games. Waitress was quick to service but also quick to bring check. We would have stayed longer but felt rushed. The rooftop bar would have been cool on evening without kids.
We were surprised to not see the restaurant busy during lunch. It could have been quiet because of Christmas holidays but we had almost the entire restaurant to ourselves!! There was live singing and music which was nice and we had great service and food but again the restaurant was pretty much empty.
We arrived at the restaurant and were told they had already stopped serving food. Unsure why I was able to make reservations if the kitchen was closed
Definitely casual and the noise level makes conversation difficult, but the food is worth everything. The staff was great, the food arrived quickly, hot and fresh. The hot chicken was my first ever and I wanted more! The beer was super cold and there was a great selection. Can't wait to go again!
Went here on Friday during the day and the food (loved the hot chicken) and service were great. Went back on Sunday before the Titans game and not the same. Bar was running way behind on drinks and stopped serving food. My son ordered food at 9:50 A.M. and at 11:10 still had not gotten his order so had to cancel it. Wait staff was nice just not enough of them. Did they not expect a crowd on game day?
I was really looking forward to this. We came from California and this was our anniversary dinner. For starters there phone gave a busy dialtone for three days in a row. When we arrived no one greeted us to take us to a table. We weren’t really sure where the actual restaurant was inside the building. I was hoping the food would’ve made up for the service. Unfortunately my steak salad was completely soaked in dressing and the steak was raw. I ask to have it re-cooked to medium, which was what I had ordered. When It came back it was more than well done. We had planned to come back the next night for dinner and karaoke. We didn’t even bother. Never had a chance to check out the other floors of the restaurant either. Very disappointing overall.
We came here twice during our time in Nashville. Once was for dinner, which was very good!, and the other was to meet some old friends and catch up. For our dinner, I had the shrimp and grits recommended by the server. It was very good-spicey! My husband had the hot chicken and mac and cheese and said it was outstanding. We sat on the couches along the side and we were still able to have a conversation over the music. When we met friends, we sat farther back near the door so we were able to converse easier. That worked well. We had the charcuterie. It was good. I’m gluten free so not a ton of options at a lot of places. The music both nights was very good as well
Customer service was terrible. We were not greeted as we walked in. Confusing layout. Dirty tables everywhere. Waitress did not know drink menu. Wife was served old sour wine. Half of the restaurant was closed off for private events. Drink menu had beer list inaccurately lableld. We are locals and we were treated like dumb tourists. Food nothing to rave about. Food runner just dropped our plates on table with little care and walked off. Very disappointed and would not be suprised if this place shuts down in a year.
I was very disappointed with my limited experience here. I made reservations for 6 for a group of us that was going to a Titans game. Imagine my surprise when we arrived to learn it was ‘open seating ‘ and no where for us to sit. We couldn’t find any staff beyond the bar tender or a manager. We ended up leaving and obviously found no where else they could accommodate us without a reservation. Very disappointing! They shouldn’t accept reservations if they don’t plan on honoring them. I won’t be going back. Their loss as we are downtown often.
The food was awesome. We had wings, pulled pork and ribs. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly and energetic. One gentleman played some good music while we at as well. Good drink menu as well. We met several people from our hotel and recommended this establishment to everyone looking for authentic southern BBQ.
I am sorry Nashville Underground I really am but it was bad.
My friend and I booked a table for 7pm, we arrived on time and were greeted by a female hostess with long blond hair. She said "Where would you like to sit?" We said, "On the roof." She directed us on how to get there but did not show us. There were a handful of people on the roof and 1 bartender but no servers. We sat at the bar and chatted with a nice, young, slender male bartender with brown hair, and a gotee. I ordered a cider and my friend had a beer. The cider tap ran out so he gave me what he had for free. He did not offer me another brand or if I wanted to try something else.
I ordered a hamburger with no bun, and fries. My friend ordered hot shrimp with macaroni and cheese. The shrimp arrived without macaroni and cheese. My friend asked didn't I order macaroni and cheese? The bartender didn't respond nor did he ask if she wanted anything else. I took one bite of the hamburger and sent it away. It was disgusting and tasted like old meat. There was no way I was taking my chance on eating it. The bartender did offer to get me something else and not charge me for the burger. I ended up getting the pulled pork and it was edible. Both my friend and I said we would never be back and it's such a shame because they have an amazing location. Good luck Nashville Underground with all the amazing restaurants in downtown you really need to step up your game.
The food was great and I highly recommend the desserts! Our service was fantastic. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place. I'll be back next time I'm in Nashville.
It was our Honeymoon and it was great!! We were seated in a romantic circular booth facing stage. The band took request and were comical as well as awesome singers. Staff was knowledgeable and kind. Pricing was fair and food was Amazing!!! We drove 3.5 hrs to eat here.... worth the trip completely!!!!
The crab cakes were amazing--definitely a must-have!
We went for my daughters birthday. Sat on the roof. Great view. Amazing food. A large variety of things to order. Will go back
Great venue! We went for happy hour. Food was great but band got a late start so we went to the other levels - bull riding and band level in addition to roof level. Great views from the rooftop of the Titans stadium and Broadway...great for people watching!!!
I had a great time at Nashville Underground, good service, good food, and a good view of Broadway. I really have no complaints, however at 7:30-8pm on a Friday night I expected it to be a little more lively, and it was pretty dead. I liked the place, but it didn't live up to the hype.
A few friends were in town to visit for a work trip and wanted to hang out on broadway. I live locally, but don’t spend a lot of time in that area. I had heard about this place so we decided to check it out for dinner/drinks. It wasn’t crowded and even though we made a reservation we didn’t end up sitting downstairs we went to the rooftop and ate with a view. (I highly recommend at least checking out the rooftop as the view is awesome) the drinks were great and it was happy hour so they weren’t too expensive. The food was awesome. I got the poutine and it was delicious. Everyone loved their food. The atmosphere was awesome too, the music wasn’t too loud so we could still talk and not feel like we were screaming. I will definitely be back to this place!
