Brunch is incredibly underwhelming.
Good food but overpriced. Cranky waitress but to be fair it was very busy. Beautiful ambiance.
They sat us an hour after our reservation, and as a result gave us a round of drinks on the house, but then still put them on our bill. Forgot to bring two appetizers to the table on top of that.
Wonderful venue for Easter brunch and we plan to return for dinner in that beautiful courtyard.
Excellant fod and service
great food, wonderful service. will definitely be going back
Great restaurant, beautiful ambiance. The Narcissa salad was to die for along with the Parker House roll. I wasn't a fan of the Kojo cured steak but the cerviche along with the cavatelli was great. Value for money!
Went for brunch with a friend. We were seated soon after our reservation time. We opted to eat outdoors. When it got too chilly, the waitress was amendable to moving our seats to somewhere warmer - painless. I got a hash and my friend got the chilaquiles - we both greatly enjoyed our meals. Very well balanced. The drinks were excellent. Will return again
Love this place, used to love the old menu better though.
Recommend the signature bread！It was amazing! The food is fine, but not that “surprise.” Good environment! Good for small group of friends! Nice staff !
The chef has changed, although the menu is pretty similar and the quality is still good. I found fewer items on the menu that were of interest to me since my last visit a year ago. I ended up with the Narcissa salad, which was very good, but piled way high above the bowl it was served in, making it impossible to eat without spilling things over. (The waitress did bring an extra plate to transfer some of it to.) Narcissa has moved a bit lower on my list.
Delicious meal in lovely space. One of the best I’ve had in a long time.
Very interesting, creative and innovative flavor combinations that mostly work but didn't knock my socks off. Had the sea bass with curry and radicchio and almonds. Generally liked it although the charred radicchio was overwhelmingly bitter. Olive oil cake was a bit dry although interesting combined with citrus and a rich cream sauce. My favorite was the turnip appetizer and the nori bread. Especially the crisp fresh turnips were refreshing and delicious. Service was great and nice atmosphere that was both trendy and quiet.
Used to love Narcissa but this time was a flop. Service was laughably bad, server was young and inexperienced and he told us midway through the meal that he was handing us over to another young inexperienced waitress because he had to "go work on the other side of the restaurant." Glass of wine was filled 1/4 only, house salad was totally overdressed and gloppy, rest of food unremarkable.
Gorgeous place, ambiance, excellent food, perfect noise level and good service. I would of given them 5 stars but whoever is salting the dishes needs to cut it in half, i.e. dishes were too heavy on the salt in sections.
Issues w the Hostess (I.e told us she couldn’t seat us for an hour) and we were never seated. Eventually two bar seats opened up & we had a nice meal there, but had this been our first time it would have been extremely off putting
Had fish without sauce
Wonderful new chef but spicy food
Candles- very romantic
Amazing service, and pretty quiet for Sunday brunch. Highly recommend!
We went for a Valentine’s Day dinner and we loved it. The sommelier suggested a wine from the southern part of the Burgundy region and it was divine. The branzino is a must order for an entree.
Ordered scallop crude, beef tartare, grilled octopus and cauliflower. Octopus was a little chewy in spots, but otherwise enjoyed everything we ate. Waiter was great and enjoyed the vibe. Would say slightly overpriced, but we did have plenty of food! Great for a girls dinner!
The house made nori and saffron bread rolls are a must have. Soft and warm and yummy.
Wonderful food, super cool bathrooms and a super accommodating host who helped us even when plans and times changed.
Great food and ambience, service was excellent. Love this restaurant!
Five days later, I’m still thinking about that porchetta! The oysters we delicious, and the crab salad was to die for. My only small complaint is that the appetizers came before we even finished our oysters—which made us feel rushed with a crowded table. Still, we look forward to coming back.
We were on time for our reservation but had to wait for almost 1/2 hour to be seated.
The food was mediocre and overpriced. The waitress was efficient but lacked personality. Would not go again
Our waitress from Texas with exceptional service made the evening that much better
The chocolate tart was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time.
Wow, worst service we’ve had in a while. We were on time for our reservation at 8:30pm and didn’t get sat until 9:40pm. There was no host at the front and guests were crowding there waiting. My party and I had 1.5 bottles of wine and two cocktails at the bar for four people before we got seated. We get it’s Restaurant Week and it may be busier than usual, but at least be a tiny bit apologetic or hospitable when finally showing us to our table. Our server gave us major attitude straight from the beginning. We sat for another half hour while she forgot to bring us the Restaurant Week menu. My boyfriend asked for his steak medium rare. It came medium. Other than that, the rest of the dishes were really good. I’m never returning solely for the terrible service.
Service was great. Food was decent. sweet ambience. Very loud though.
Worst meal I've had in the past year. The hostess cancelled my reservation solely because I didn't pick up her confirmation phone call. I had, however, confirmed the reservation the day prior via Open Table. After being INCREDIBLY rude to me she only agreed to seat my party after proving her the final page of my Open Table confirmation. Then, the waitress tried to turn our table and rush us out of the restaurant even though the entire place was empty (presumably empty because of the horrible food and service). Our party was an odd number and the kitchen refused to add 1 more roll to our order so we could each have one, even after offering to pay, instead of awkwardly splitting 2 rolls into thirds. Lastly, we ordered the fried chicken entree to share- 3 of the pieces were fine but my piece was COMPLETELY raw. Please see attached photo. All in all, I'll never come back to Narcissa and spend money on overpriced food at another restaurant without such an attitude problem.
They sat us late despite having a reservation, and then served us ridiculously quickly - cleared our appetizers before we were done because our mains were ready. Felt like a very rushed experience despite the fact that there were some empty tables around - no one waiting. Also, some of the food was cold. Had a better experience here for dinner than I did for this brunch.
We were told that we could not be seated until our entire party had arrived (one of our four was 10 minutes late) even though we said we would like start ordering cocktails- AND WE HAD A RESERVATION. Then we were told they would need the table back by 9 (our rez was at 7) which was not part of the reservation policy when we made it - they said they wanted to “let us know since we were starting late” - BECAUSE THEY WOULDN’T SEAT US. We explained why this was inhospitable and unacceptable, and their only response was to repeat the policy. Truthfully one of the most unpleasant host interactions in 15 years of dining in the city. Food & wine were good, but overshadowed.
Tried it .2 years ago and liked the older chef slightly better. The vegetable forward dishes were good but not amazing. Awesome ambience in the standard.
We went for restaurant week and had a really fantastic dinner. The service was next level. The food was really good— I added an extra star because of the cocktails. All around a wonderful experience!
15 minutes before being approached for water choice
Went for brunch, service was slow and not attentive. Entree which were veggie and steak burger actually came out cold. We sent back the fries but didn’t bother with burgers .. wouldn’t go back
I'm glad I found this restaurant to meet up with some friends. Food was good. Decor was phenomenal. Great for early brunch time. Not as crowded in the morning, which is best time for brunch. Service is great. Price was reasonable. I didn't feel rushed and was able to eat and catch up with friends. Will definitely go back.
Went for brunch. The food was absolutely flavorless. Like the chef has never heard of seasoning. Terrible. Room is nice enough and service was totally adequate. But everything we ate was beyond bland.
Decided to try after reading reviews and an article online from the Thrillist. Narcissa did not disappoint! W started at the car with cocktails. Only one bar tender was working for the whole place so the service was a little slow. I could tell the bartender was a little stressed...or at least it appeared that she was. Once we were seated at are seat the service was impeccable and welcoming which I always appreciate. For appetizers we had the grilled octopus and the smoked Japanese fries. The octopus was good but slightly small relative to other restaurants my husband has tried this dish. The smoked Japanese sweet potato was great! We chose the red snapper and the chicken with grapes (lettuce wraps) for our entrees. The red snapper was delicious. The chicken was okay but something was missing and not sure the lettuce wrap part worked. Dessert we had a little chocolate pie (very small) with brulee bananas and vanilla bean ice cream. Very tasty and since it was so small not too much guilt involved. The scene is vibrant and fun. After dinner we went to a cross-dresser show next door and then to the other bar next door where there was a DJ. It was a super fun night.
