Wonderful creative food! Nice wait staff and a beautiful room!
Gorgeous room, delicious food. Service was slow/absent, but otherwise we'd return.
The loud thumping sound from the bar next door, combined with the loud music from the restaurant itself made this once amazing place almost unbearable to be in. It’s a pity. Service and food were otherwise impeccable.
Narcissa has one of the loveliest gardens in Manhattan - unique and delicious food and very good sommelier
The courtyard was great, the menu innovative, the food delicious and the service excellent
I was disappointed because I had heard very good things. The restaurant is beautiful, specially outside. So if you want to take a drink outside, go for it. Your Instagram will love it. If you want a food experience, maybe try somewhere else.
The starter was too big and a bit boring (potatoes with sauce that tasted a bit bland) and the main dish (today’s special) was Ok at best. The beef was stringy and the salad was bland. A very good sauce, that was similar to what we make at home.
This part was not ok: For some reason, there was beetles (I counted 4) jumping around our sitting area. (We sat inside, not outside). Probably from the beautiful garden outside, but frankly, I don’t care. I don’t want to see beetles crawl behind the restaurant sofa where I am eating, or find them in my bag later.
All in all, this was the most expensive restaurant we visited, but the one we enjoyed the least. Starter and main dish, 2 drinks and 2 beers, ended at about 200 dollars.
The garden is very cute & charming
A lovely patio! Excellent food. Very courteous staff.
Empty but for 2 other tables on a Saturday at 8pm. Food took forever, the. Took forever to get the check even though there was one waitress per table.
I have passed by Narcissa so many times that I finally decided to take my stepdad there for a belated outing. My family and myself loved the service, ambiance and the food tasted so fresh and good! We did not know about the brunch protocol and the kitchen closing early to begin prepping for dinner. However, our server was lovely and made sure we placed all the orders before it did switch out and she did not bring out the spare items until we finished our first round for appetizers. In the day time the place is very child and baby friendly which isn't bad, but if you are sitting next to a loud crying baby it might mess up the setting a bit. Overall, great experience aside from that!
I am so disappointed about the food!
Great ambiance and staff. Food was sub par.
Came here for restaurant week with friends. Dinner Menu was decent: we tried all appetizers and entrees, they were all tasty! The dessert was great too. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the restaurant (indoor) smelled like bleach all night, didnt want to seat outside because it was a very hot day/night, and we had to ask for bread (after seating/ordering 1hr long).
The food was very mediocre, was expecting much more. Had the crudo, snapper and chocolate cake. Nothing to write home about
I rarely write reviews, but this is a restaurant with so much potential and it just flops. The menu looked so yummy and exciting, but the food served was nothing but disappointing. A "summer salad" drenched in super salty dressing with ONE TEENY sliver of a peach, a fluke crudo that was poorly cut, terribly presented, and again completely drenched in sauce, a branzino that was fine but nothing to be remembered, and a grilled eggplant that had so much potential, but was just eh. The only upside is that they have a lovely garden which is perfect for a summer night, and the service and wine were great.
It was affordable and very tasty
Disappointing fare on this last visit, after many years of excellence. The chef owner is focused on other ventures and, sadly, this shows. That said, staff is always really great; wish the attention to detail in the cooking were maintained.
This was my second visit to Narcissa. The food was just as good during this visit as the last.
The service is friendly and helpful, but could use a little more polish to tip it into the excellent range. During our first visit we ended up being forgotten for about 30 minutes after our entree course arrived. Other than that it was quite good. During our second visit, our server was not quite as knowledgeable about the food and wine as he might have been but still was very gracious and had a good sense for hospitality. My recommendation is to definitely go there and enjoy a delicious, relaxed and casual meal on the beautiful interior courtyard.
Menu selections are scant. Entrees made to appear much larger than actual (once you discard the fish head and tail or remove the copious fat around the steak). Charging for bread?
We used to come to Narcissa often. Will wait for major changes before returning.
Great space. Cool atmosphere but was there super early before a show.
We enjoyed a delicious and relaxing brunch. The weather was beautiful and the garden provided a pleasant respite from the summer heat. We highly recommend the eggs Benedict and hash. The Bloody Mary was amazing - just the right amount of spice.
Love the experience, service and outdoor patio. Unfortunately they have a small menu and the food can be hit or miss. We have had some great meals there and some that were so-so. Worth a visit and hope for the best.
I found my second experience at Narcissa very disappointing. The wait for the food was interminable, the food came out sporadically, barely at room temperature and I found the starter I ordered to be very dry and tasteless, the same starter I had on my first outing to Narcissa, when it was lovely and delicious. The waitress kept calling me ma'am every time she came over to the table to apologize. (just a pet peeve of mine. I would rather not be called ma'am.) Was the chef out sick? On vacation? Man, this was really not a great experience. The kitchen needs to get its act together. I will think twice about returning. The only bright spot in the evening was the maitre d' who was very friendly and accommodating.
Sitting outside was great. Service was great. Food and drinks are very high priced. But still enjoyed.
Brunch is incredibly underwhelming.
Good food but overpriced. Cranky waitress but to be fair it was very busy. Beautiful ambiance.
They sat us an hour after our reservation, and as a result gave us a round of drinks on the house, but then still put them on our bill. Forgot to bring two appetizers to the table on top of that.
Wonderful venue for Easter brunch and we plan to return for dinner in that beautiful courtyard.
Excellant fod and service
great food, wonderful service. will definitely be going back
Great restaurant, beautiful ambiance. The Narcissa salad was to die for along with the Parker House roll. I wasn't a fan of the Kojo cured steak but the cerviche along with the cavatelli was great. Value for money!
Went for brunch with a friend. We were seated soon after our reservation time. We opted to eat outdoors. When it got too chilly, the waitress was amendable to moving our seats to somewhere warmer - painless. I got a hash and my friend got the chilaquiles - we both greatly enjoyed our meals. Very well balanced. The drinks were excellent. Will return again
Love this place, used to love the old menu better though.
Recommend the signature bread！It was amazing! The food is fine, but not that “surprise.” Good environment! Good for small group of friends! Nice staff !
The chef has changed, although the menu is pretty similar and the quality is still good. I found fewer items on the menu that were of interest to me since my last visit a year ago. I ended up with the Narcissa salad, which was very good, but piled way high above the bowl it was served in, making it impossible to eat without spilling things over. (The waitress did bring an extra plate to transfer some of it to.) Narcissa has moved a bit lower on my list.
Delicious meal in lovely space. One of the best I’ve had in a long time.
Very interesting, creative and innovative flavor combinations that mostly work but didn't knock my socks off. Had the sea bass with curry and radicchio and almonds. Generally liked it although the charred radicchio was overwhelmingly bitter. Olive oil cake was a bit dry although interesting combined with citrus and a rich cream sauce. My favorite was the turnip appetizer and the nori bread. Especially the crisp fresh turnips were refreshing and delicious. Service was great and nice atmosphere that was both trendy and quiet.
Used to love Narcissa but this time was a flop. Service was laughably bad, server was young and inexperienced and he told us midway through the meal that he was handing us over to another young inexperienced waitress because he had to "go work on the other side of the restaurant." Glass of wine was filled 1/4 only, house salad was totally overdressed and gloppy, rest of food unremarkable.
Gorgeous place, ambiance, excellent food, perfect noise level and good service. I would of given them 5 stars but whoever is salting the dishes needs to cut it in half, i.e. dishes were too heavy on the salt in sections.
