Napua @ Mauna Lani Beach Club
Napua at Mauna Lani Beach is known for offering American, seafood, Polynesian and Hawaiian cuisine for an eclectic and adventurous menu. Napua's atmosphere is coastal and inviting since it is located in its own private cove. The restaurant is often described as one that weaves traditional Hawaiian cuisine with contemporary dishes that appeal to the locals and foreigners alike.
Napua offers nightly specials with the fish of the day such as mahi mahi with lobster and roasted corn. However, the menu also includes land based cuisine such as the classic Ribeye steak and barbecue pork ribs. Appetizers and main courses include both seafood and meat items such as calamari, seared ahi, grilled pork loin among others.
Beautiful setting for a lovely dinner on the Beach. Food was tasty and service was very nice. On a calm night there is no better place to be!
This is our favorite restaurant to end our Hawaii vacation at. They are always nice to our kids and have many kid options. The view is amazing and it is nice for the kids to run on the grass after dinner. The catch of the day and Ahi are family favorites
Met Brandon, the owner, and he was so friendly and knowledgeable about the island. Coral was a wonderful server. Amazing food! Great drinks! Out of this world deserts!
Amazing little restaurant with local and American food.
Live music and a very nice staff. I can’t recommend this place enough!
It’s always good at Napua. The setting, people and food are as good as it gets on the coast.
The duck was smaller than a sparrow
Citronella candles stunk up the place-on each table
No offer of drink refills
Two cold pieces of cold toasted bread for two people
Not accommodating for minor substitutions
Would not return for free meal
All four of our entrees were horribly over cooked making the fish only cuttable with a knife and some effort. We have never experienced this before in many visits over the years but it happened both times we visited on our recent trip to Hawaii. Very disappointing.
Incredible night spent at this restaurant. Watching the sunset with a fine meal provided my wife and I with a memory that will last for a long time. We visit Hawaii every year, and this will now be one of our must go to restaurants every year going forward.
It has been a number of years since visiting Napua. We stopped coming because the food was not first rate. However, on this visit, the food was first rate from beginning to end. Napua always had great ambience, but it appears they have stepped up their game to become a top tier restaurant on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. I recommend you give this restaurant a try and I hope they hold their quality for our next visit a year from now.
This is a small outdoor restaurant at a beach club. A great place to take your date away from the busyness of the resorts. Good food well plated. The shuttle from the Fairmont Orchid can take you there.
Wonderful dinner. Our waitress was the best! Only disappointment was that our favorite band Kahulanui was supposed to be there on Friday night and didn’t show up.
Thank you Coral! You helped make our last evening on the BI very special.
Napua is a wonderful setting for outdoor dining, with the beach and ocean just beyond. Combine the setting with great cocktails and food and you'll understand why we go to celebrate our anniversaries there! An added plus, Napua makes a shave ice martini!
Beautiful location with equally beautiful and delicious food.
Kitchen ruined the fish special twice
Napua offers the food, ambiance and view of nicer dining but the vibe is nice and relaxed. Very reasonable price for amazing food and a view. Highly recommend coming here.
When we arrived for our reservation we were denied entry because there was a private party that occupied the entire restaurant. I had received an email the previous day asking me to confirm the reservation, which I did, but we were turned away when we arrived. This was very embarrassing to me and our guests.
Napua has a relaxing vibe and food is fantastic. Live music, open air dining, set alongside a lawn and a small beach that leads to the water. We dine at Napua multiple times when we are on the island.
Place was nice. Food was good. But nothing wowed me, except the price of the meals and the one price of bread they gave for a $50 meal. It’s bread, so why are you so tight w the bread at almost closing hours.
I mentioned on Opentable it was s special occasion and yet when we checked in, no one cared.
Ordered the catch of the day, which was Mahi Mahi and they ran out and gave me something else. Not as good as Mahi Mahi
Steak was thin for a rib eye
By far our best dinner on the island. Would not have changed a thing.
A wonderful place to spend the evening with old friends and new.
The Hawaiian landscape of beach meeting sunset and after glow was spectacular. What topped off the evening was the excellent food. Great work Napua!
Great food. Impeccable service. Right above the ocean with sunset view. Live music (although Kahula Nui, which was supposed to be playing once again did not show up). Prices high, but about what you would expect for an upscale Kohala Coast oceanfront restaurant.
We went here based on a recommendation from another family where we were staying. We were very impressed. Quiet, private, and the view was incredible. The food was a 10/10 and everything was perfect. We liked it so much we made another reservation for my parents two days later. Go here with confidence!
We absolutely loved Napua! The service and ambience was the best as was the food. To top it off, there was live music by a very talented band. My pork ribs with a guava bbq sauce were amazing as was my wife’s fish.
What a gem!! Food was outstanding! Nicole was so helpful and sweet. The calamari appetizer was delicious as well as the pork ribs and short ribs for dinner. Quiet, strung up lights in the trees, beautiful breeze. So worth it! Go!
Our favorite restaurant. Food, ambiance and music are outstanding.
The view is beautiful. Very small menu. The service was nice but super slow. Food was not the best we've had close by.
Great location, server was very knowledgeable of the menu as well as very attentive. Food was great tasting and the presentation of each dish was outstanding. A great restaurant that should not be missed.
Delicious food, friendly attentive service. Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful setting!
Quaint cozy outdoor restaurant on the Kohala Coast. Excellent locally sourced food. Attentive but unobtrusive service. Westward facing but obstructed sunset view. Still beautiful setting.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. We never miss it when we’re on island.
Fabulous! Great view! Great food! Great Ambiance!
Music was delightful and enjoyable!
Very Clean Friendly Environment!
It was our Four-Seventh Wedding Anniversary. September the Thrideth (30).

Location, location. Beautiful outdoor setting, amazing food and service and a fun live band to boot!
Beautiful setting, very relaxed, kid friendly. Great choice of cocktails and wine. The menu is creative and fresh.
Great food and service in a picture perfect location. One of our favorites for lunch and dinner.
We had a fabulous dining experience. The view was amazing as it was raining and absolutely beautiful! The music was incredible. He is the artist on Mondays ... Vaughn Valentino. Amazing! We cannot wait to go back!
Beautiful setting great service. My ono chef’s special was dry but the strawberry salad was a delight. Ribs were excellent.
My wife Ava got the Catch of the day and it was excellent. I got the duck confit and it seemed to be warmed over and not freshly prepared. The wait staff were outstanding, cheerful and most professional. The ambiance is quite charming and a definitely a restaurant we would recommend.
Last time I got ribs and they were excellent, just the duck was disappointing this round.
All in all lovely atmosphere and staff
Great quality food and service. Ambiance was awesome.
