Napua @ Mauna Lani Beach Club
Napua at Mauna Lani Beach is known for offering American, seafood, Polynesian and Hawaiian cuisine for an eclectic and adventurous menu. Napua's atmosphere is coastal and inviting since it is located in its own private cove. The restaurant is often described as one that weaves traditional Hawaiian cuisine with contemporary dishes that appeal to the locals and foreigners alike.
Napua offers nightly specials with the fish of the day such as mahi mahi with lobster and roasted corn. However, the menu also includes land based cuisine such as the classic Ribeye steak and barbecue pork ribs. Appetizers and main courses include both seafood and meat items such as calamari, seared ahi, grilled pork loin among others.
Fish entrees were delicious
Was expecting more from our evening dining, but came away disappointed with only below-average quality food. The pork ribs (at $38!) consisted of 6 dry ribs on a scoop of plain rice and small dollop of coleslaw. The Mahi Mahi special was also overlooked and dry. The only decent thing about the place was the wine list. The restaurant is probably better served for the lunch time crowd from the adjacent beach, though we have not gone there for lunch, and certainly will not after having a mediocre dinner experience.
Dinner at Napua is one of the highlights of our trips to the big island. The staff is very friendly and food is always great. Our favorites are the calamari appetizer and tuna and ribs entrees. The view is beautiful.
One of our favorite places that never disappoints. Having Cindy as our server was a nice bonus since she is a long time favorite of ours.
Beautiful spot, romantic sunset. Service was fine. Interesting local fish offerings, just slightly overcooked.
Nice location and view, knowledgeable staff and good service, great food!
Arrived 20-30 minutes early and was seated immediately, very good recommendation (drinks/food). Overall EXCELLENT service! Will definitely be back..
The dinner service was excellent. I had the local catch with the lemon caper sauce with brussels sprouts and roasted sweet potatoes. It was very good, but with just a bit more sauce, it would have been outstanding. My husband started with the oysters and thought they were terrific. The barbecued ribs were tender and good. We had the puff pastry with ice cream and one of the cakes for dessert. The ice cream was the best part of either dish. Napua is the perfect setting for dinner on the beach.
I’d recommend Napa to everyone. But I won’t.
I want to keep it for myself
What a lovely little restaurant- small, cozy, warm, and friendly. So relaxing and casual. I’d go back over and over if it were closer. Very highly recommended!
A great restaurant in a great location. Excellent mai tais and good food. Highly recommend...
Great food and wine. Beautiful setting. Friendly staff.
Fabulous....The fish was out of this world delicious. The service was outstanding.
The service was impeccable. The food was delicious, locally sourced, fresh, and prepared in an innovative way. All this and the gorgeous beach-side setting. What more could you ask for?
Meal was excellent and only surpassed by the fantastic service.
We enjoyed our experience and dinner at Napua. We were first seated on the patio, but the wind was real strong, so they kindly moved us to an inner table. Food was excellent, we got the red snapper. Service was exceptional, always were attentive. Live music by a man with a guitar sang. It was dark so we didn't see the sunset.
What a nice and intimate restaurant. Great food and service. An ambiance that's not to be believed unless you go there. We had a table overlooking the ocean (where we saw a whale jumping while we were having dinner). You won't be disappointed by going here!
Wanted to go to Napua when we were here last but never got the chance. So happy to have made it this time. The place is beautiful, the food cooked perfectly and our server was the sweetest woman!
lailani was fabulous. serene quiet romantic beach setting.
fabulous scenery. food was very good . portions not large/prices same in the area. classy dining! highly recommend it. want to go back tonight but no availability.
Overall, we had a nice evening at Napua. Even though we had a reservation, we still had about a 20 minute wait for a table. It's such a lovely location that I think once people have a table they stay for as long as they can, making turn over a challenge for the staff. The food was good and everybody in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The steak was cooked as requested. Our server was a bit hit or miss. Sometimes they were very present and sometimes they would be missing for the longest time. I would definitely give it another try the next time we visit the Big Island.
Very niceservant. Splendid location and food
Must of just hit a bad night. The mashed with my duck were cold. My wife ordered the special and really did not like it at all. The restaurant was gracious enough to remove it from the bill.
Had the nightly fish special in a savory coconut sauce, yummy! Service was superb and views of the beach and ocean unmatched at sunset on north Kohala coast.
We always look forward to coming back to Napua. The food is wonderful and the service is outstanding. The people are friendly and treat us like family. It’s always the highlight of our visit to the Big Island.
We go to Napua every time we are on the Big Island and it's always amazing. So friendly, comfortable, beautiful, and the food is healthy and delicious.
Napua is terrific! Scenery and food both A+
All in all a very pleasant outdoor dining experience! Good food accompanied by exceptional service!
This was our second visit and we once again were delighted with our experience. Appetizers of octopus luau and a salad with goat cheese were excellent. Similarly, the catch of the day (opakapaka) and mahi mahi with twice baked sweet potatoes both were delicious.
Incredibly beautiful location! Amazing food, outstanding service! The staff was very attentive but not overly so! Our favorite place to dine on the Big Island!
We had high expectations as several of our friends recommended the restaurant. Although the surroundings are beautiful, our service left much to be desired. The waitress appeared to ignore our table while serving tables around us. The calamari came as a cake that was cut into pieces with a very potent topping. It was by no means refreshing. We had a Ribeye steak, which on the menu was presented to be 14 ounces but came back as a very thin meat cut of many pieces. I think there are many other great options in the same price point in the surrounding area, especially given the poor service we received.
Wonderful ocean view, peaceful ambience, delicious food, fantastic service, great wine. Our best meal yet.
Kaulana, Johnny and our server (sorry don’t know her name) displayed outstanding customer service with much aloha. Food was on point especially enjoyed the surf and turf and banana lumpia was ono! Mahalo nunui!
Fabulous in every way!!
Perfect evening. The live music by Media Music Hawaii created a delightful backdrop to a delicious meal. Fabulous views, leisurely meal delivered by friendly and attentive servers. Don’t miss this.
Wonderful service from the moment you walk in, till the moment you walk out.
Love this place.
Great food and setting in front of the ocean! I had the seared Ahi and it was fantastic!
Just a great quite spot. Great service, great food. Will definitely return soon
