Napolese Wine Bar
***Our dining room accepts walk-ins of all ages, no reservations necessary***
Napolese is about artfully made pizza and stone hearth baking. We use the finest ingredients available, carefully sourcing cheeses, meats and local farm produce grown specifically for Napolese. The seasonal menu paired with incredible Patachou service make for a world class pizza experience.
Great food, great service, a bit noisy. Reasonable pricing. Been there several times, will definitely go again.
Our dinner was really good. The salads were especially "foodie" and were large. We waited a while for things to get started even though we had a reservation. Overall, we are likely to go back.
First time to Indianapolis and I was really interested in dining at local restaurants. After passing over many of the chains -- which Indy seems to have many -- my partner and I went to Napolese. Absolutely a charming restaurant. Great pizzas and served a gluten-free crust for my severe celiac partner. (We always need to be careful where we eat because of this issue. It was a truly cosmopolitan experience, on par with great destination restaurants found in LA or NYC, with great service and knowledge. Try the "Blaze On" with luscious short ribs, pickled jalapenos, swirled tomato jam instead of a red sauce, and leeks. Mild provolone dresses the pie deliciously. Sweet. Savory. Spicy. Crisped crust.
Ask for Amelia to seat you and sit over in the second room. Sink into one of the comfy couches or chairs -- with a perfectly chosen wine, and have Craig serve you with his Jimi Hendrix hair. (He recommended the pizza. I don't know if he played guitar but I kept wanting to ask him.)
Fantastic food...dog friendly outside (which was fantastic for Wilma!) and the staff is so kind!
We really enjoyed our visit to Napolese! We were in a bit of a hurry...en route to a concert and the staff at the restaurant got us beverages, food...and out in time! We were very appreciative for that. Enjoyable experience!
Good time. Sorbet was not good. Meal was very good.
This is a reliable place for a good meal made from very high quality ingredients. The BLT pizza would have benefited from a more generous portion of leeks.
Love this place - food is great and the service is it’s equal...super cozy seating.
Love the food at this place & tonight did not disappoint in that regard. However, we had the misfortune of being placed at one of the tables with the sofas for seating. They LOOK so comfy - but looks are deceiving! Trying to sit up high enough and get close enough to the table to eat without dumping food all over ourselves was a real challenge. Not even the right height to sit cross legged or lotus position. I’m sure it was intended to be a plush, luxurious experience, but it was quite the opposite. When I mentioned to our server, I think she thought I was joking.
Maybe I’m the first one not to “love” eating in a big, sunken sofa? Do yourself a favor & ask for a table with regular dining chairs and definitely order the bruschetta. Also, the caprese salad was nothing short of divine!
Love the food, although it’s hard to justify spending 95 dollars for 3 people on pizza. The waitress was attentive and kind and warm. The atmosphere of this place IS worth what we paid - dark and warm, smells like fresh bread, cozy. I do have a complaint about how loud the place was, it’s small and packed full of people, so I was basically yelling to be able to be heard. Anyway, try the quail egg pizza. It’s delish.
Sadly I made the reservation for the wine bar and we had to et inside in the regular dining room. We did have a nice seat by the window but was looking forward to the ambience of the wine bar quiet and relaxing without children. We were told the reason we could not sit in wine bar was due to staff. The room was visible and open but no guests in it that I saw. It was busy when we left with outdoor tables but a bit surprised about the staffing issue. Our waitress was attentive and lovely.
The salads were outstanding as usual they are very large. Four of us could have shared. We always get the goat cheese appetizer. Both pizzas our group selected were excellent. We know Napolese well. The Service was very slow st the start; May have been short-handed. It was very hard to have a conversation on a Thursday night when they were not full. The prices keep going up so it is an expensive night out.
I was born and grew up in Italy, I own an Italian restaurant near the Geist reservoir. Whenever I go to Napolese I always feel comfortable, very good food and top quality ingredients. The service is always impeccable and the waiters always show great kindness and courtesy. The ambience is very refined and at the same time rustic and well furnished. I consider this place the best Italian restaurant in Indianapolis city.
Probably the best dining experience I’ve had in a long time!
We were seated promptly in the wine bar, a nice moderately quiet corner of the restaurant. We were able to place drink orders quickly. My colleague got the house red and I waited to order the Corpse Reviver II, which was a beautifully balanced upgraded gin and tonic-like beverage. The balance of liqueurs in the drink made it quite refreshing without being sweet.
We ordered the fire-roasted shrimp focaccia, which was amazing. The spicy tomato sauce really balanced the light shrimp and corn. And the thin focaccia was the perfect accoutrement.
For pizzas, we split a BLT and the chef’s special of the day - Tomato Jam with House chicken sausage, pepperoni, and provolone cheese. The BLT pizza was good, but the special pie we both decided may have been the best pizza we’ve ever had - hands down. I’d highly recommend putting that special on the regular menu as it was amazing.
All in all - a great meal in a great atmosphere with great service. I will definitely be back.
Napolese Wine Bar is great! Their salads and pizzas are always so unique and delicious, their wine list interesting, and the staff is always helpful and friendly.
We were celebrating Nanny's 86th birthday and Greg our waiter was wonderful, and the food was also outstanding and tasty and fresh. Will be coming back for sure!
Everything was excellent except the noise. It was hard to maintain a conversation.
Pizza was great. Service was not so great. As an example, We ordered wine, one of their nicer bottles and had to pour it ourselves. The owners need to upgrade staff and train them to match the prices of their menu. Many other options in Indy.
Fabulous new spring menu. Will be going back soon!
When I visit Indy (driving from Chicago) Napolese is a 'must visit'. Always a gracious, delicious evening.
A wonderful place for dining and celebrating any occasion
As always, the food was great. We really love the ambiance of the bar seating. The Brussel sprouts hash, the goat cheese appetizer, double chop and a half beets and carrots salad and the Hamakers Corner were delicious!! Thanks for taking good care of us Greg!
Always love an evening at napolese!!
We are now back in Indianapolis full-time after being 30 years in the Air Force. My husband and I thoroughly enjoy Napolese because of its variety of menu, they always have a salad and an entrée special. We go at least every other week. The service is also outstanding from the manager to the wait Staff.
Quiet, intimate experience to celebrate my birthday.
Poor service was the problem with this experience. Wwe went before a show at Bulter and missed hte beginning of it, while eating our pizza in the car on the drive over. We ordered 4 pizzas and 75 min later they rushed them out in boxes so we could go. Getting the bill took another 5 minutes. And they said "they're coming right out" multiple times over 15+ min span. People that got there after us got food first with poor excuses. Food is very good though and cute place so was disappointed in the service.
We had a lovely night and the food was outstanding. Our server was attentive, yet non obtrusive. It was a splendid birthday celebration and I can’t stop thinking about that Casanova’s Delight pizza. Perfection.
Very poor service. We’ve been here many, many times and have never had bad service. Our waiter was hardly at our table and took very long between times he would go grab drinks, food, check, etc. and was very short and rude. We will be back but still disappointed.
Really knowledgeable server. He really knew his wines. Loved his sarcastic humor!
Great place... We'll be back
This is quite a nice little place that I cannot wait to go back to
Excellent food and excellent service with most friendly staff I highly recommend it
My favorite pizza in all the land. I enjoy mixing it up and trying new flavors. Our service was exceptional...I cannot say enough about how perfect the service was. Not the first time I’ve been here and definitely not the last.
Jesse is a great waiter
Love the coziness
We were seated in the room to the east of the main restaurant (the bar). As always the food and the service were pretty good. The music was unbearably loud and really ruined the evening as conversation was impossible. Several requests to lower the volume were unmet. Also, the room was so hot that I saw several guests fiddling with the thermostat to no avail.
Great service at just the right pace. Not as busy at our 8:30 reservation time and less noisy then too.
We had a reservation 2 hours prior to a show at Clowes Theater on the Butler campus. By 6:45pm (show was at 7:30) we still had not received our pizza. We repeatedly asked our waitress to check on our order as she knew we had tickets to the show. At 7:00 we still hadn't received our food. We told her that we didn't want it anymore as we had to leave. At 7:10, we were still waiting for our bill and she finally showed with our bill and 1 of our pizzas in a to go box that she was going to charge us for. We said we didn't want it, especially if we had to pay for it! Then she charged us for our 2 cocktails that we had and left for our show, starving. Needless to say, we missed the first 15 minutes of the show and didn't get to eat any pizza!!! Pretty disappointing.
Food is always great. Service is always great. Tables a little close for my liking but otherwise perfect.
they were short on help for our visit. did not see a server for 30mins after sitting down and even after pointing that out, still struggled to get service all night. great food, nice people, but very under staffed and offered nothing to make up for the bad service even after we expressed our displeasure.
We are frequent diners here but Friday night was not our best experience. Napolese is obviously under staffed and Friday nights are chaotic. We waited at least 30 minutes before we saw a server, and in fact it was the bus boy who took pity on us! The food is great, and it is one of our favorite places to go, but they do need to address their lack of servers problem!
Dined for our wedding anniversary brick oven pizza appetizer burnt. SO loud couldn’t hear each other. Service slow, at best. Waitress saw we were disappointed in burnt pizza and snuck bill onto table while we were in restrooms and never returned to table. Love napolese but this was a terrible experience. We left without an entree and dined elsewhere.
