Napa Valley Wine Train
Had no reservation recorded on file through open table. Drove to Napa from Sacramento and had no reservation! Wine train had no record or familiar with open table. Worst experience ever! Had to drive back home, because nothing was available.
The dessert was a chocolate moose and it was nothing to write home about, way too sweet. The Salmon was dry because it was over cooked. I had the evening ride and could not see nothing on our way back and this was a huge disappointment. We knew about this, but there was nothing left to entertain us while we ate. Not even background music.
We paid a lot for a lackluster experience. 1- For a 350 bill at least 1 glass of wine should be included .2- server had too much to handle . Unfair to servers to handle serving and trying to share information about vineyards. Should have a delegate sharing info . The food was great . The ambiance needs tweaking . Should have soft music of the times playing in the background to create the feel of the times . Instead it was a few insights here and there and then silence. Fell short . Glad we went but to me it’s a 1 time and done experience. Did not create enough to desire a return . Potential is there so perhaps they will show some creativity to make them a must with each visit .
It was very pleasant and dinner was good along with drinks. Service was great. I love every bit of it.
Would totally do it again! Food was great! Wine was great and the service was very professional!
It is NOT worth the price of $160 per person. Dinner was good, but the amount of food offered is not a good value. If it was $50-75 per person, my opinion would be much different. The desserts were not good, but the salad and two pieces of steak were very tasty. The potatoes had a great taste; however I had less than two total tablespoons total on my plate. Total bust.
The atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the scenery. The service was great as well.
What a treat to be able to reserve through Open Table!
Amazing experience, able to enjoy wine that we purchased from vineries earlier in day, corkage fee fair.
So happy we finally got to experience this MUST DO in Napa!
Just not worth the price given the experience. It would be worth it at half the cost. No alcohol (wine) included so ended up being $200 pp by the time we were done. Very Touristy too. And train was sloooow. Would have preferred to get off in St Helena.... not an option and our car was still in Napa. Train itself was nice and clean. It retrospect, wish we’d done something else that evening.
Very nice ride and dinner on an old train through some of the most beautiful country in the world. Service was excellent and the food was good.
It was a very interactive experience. I was encouraged to talk to my neighbors to solve problems. The train gave a great view of the Napa vineyards.
The bar for food is really high in Napa...this was nice and food was okay/good..salmon was over cooked and firm/not flakey.. dessert is blah...Nothing spectacular especially when you think of the costs and compared to other really fine places in Napa. Train stopped at half way point and we waited a very long time ...couldn't figure out why...nobody told us...so we asked and someone got sick. Ambulance came...we decided to leave and take car service back..so..we asked if we could leave and someone said they would get back to us..but nobody did..and in frustration there was an open door and my gf in high heels and I climbed down from the train....as we are walking from the train, now...out comes a manager asking us to sign a release of liability..really?? ...so basically you keep me on the train without telling us why and then when I want to leave you push a waiver on me...bad taste in mouth. Train supposed to arrive back at station about 9 pm...it was 10+pm in younteville when we heard the horn ...so probably didn't arrive in Napa until 1030pm...ehhh...
Enjoyed the entire experience! The rail car was beautiful, food, and service were great.
Absolutely loved this experience. Would be great with friends. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary on the train. The food was amazing and beautiful. Service was spectacular and knowledgeable.
Only disappointment, and a major one, was that you had discontinued the use of the separate wine car that, five years ago, we had enjoyed tremendously.
Had a great time . Wine was good ,ride was fun, wish it was longer!!!
I suppose that a daytime trip would have been more rewarding. The train itself is very interesting but because it was nighttime, there wasn't much to see and wine tasting wasn't available at any of the vineyards. I wasn't that impressed with the food and the fact that all the wine was at an additional cost except for the small taste. Our return trip was interrupted by a disruptive group that had to be escorted from the train; we sat without any notification as to why. There were multiple police cars on the adjoining road
Food and ambiance was very good. We were very surprised at the amount of "alacarte" elements. The cost of the experience and Wine Train name expectations were that wine pairings (tastings) would be included in the cost. The experience was lovely but could have provided a more inclusive package.
My friends came to visit San Francisco from Sydney Australia for the first time. They brought me a couple of bottles of St Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, which turned out to be superb. So I took them to visit Napa wine country on a day trip and tasted some of our own superb Cabs. We ended the day with a very relaxing dinner on the famous Napa Wine Train.
Sat at half way point over 35 plus minutes which caused almost total darkness on return trip. Hard to enjoy ride when you can't see country side.
We had a lovely time! Didn't know about the Dome until it was too late to book (already filled). Dinner was great and the train/setting amazing!
