Napa Valley Grille - Westwood Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit to the Napa Valley Grille in Westwood. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were impressed with the furnishings and the ambience. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. We were impressed with our server who explained the menu to
us. There were no long waits in between our appetizer and our main course. Also a very good wine list. We had told her we were going to the Geffen Theatre and she promptly brought over our bill. We had a lovely experience and will definitely be returning.
I chose Napa Valley Grille for its proximity to the Geffen Playhouse. It seemed to be the only choice! As it turned out that didn't matter. NVG turned out to be perfect. The food was great,
service was perfect and very friendly, and the ambience was just what I look for in a restaurant -
not too bright and not too dark. We had a wonderful and delicious dinner before the play then returned after the play at 10pm for dessert. I loved NVG so much that I would even travel from my home in West Hollywood just to have dinner there!
Not inexpensive, but it's Westwood, so what would you expect? A good value overall since the food was very tasty, the portions were good, the atmosphere was lovely and festive and the service was friendly. It was the perfect place to enjoy a special meal with our UCLA freshman -- nice to get off campus, but very conveniently located.
I go to Napa Valley grille strictly for convenience: it's one of the few restaurants in Westwood and one can always get a reservation and it's a nice enough place to sit. The food is
strictly mediocre and over-priced and the service barely adequate. This last time, our
waiter, having brought our main course, never came back so that when we wanted dessert
and the check we had to ask our bus boy three times to get our waiter! The restaurant is too
big--half of it is often empty--but is reasonably attractive.
I've had good and very bad meals at this UCLA Commissary. But the good news is that Napa Valley has continued to improve over the years. Maybe it has a new chef but the food seems to be getting better. And the service is friendly making the clubby atmosphere congenial. Too bad it really isn't the UCLA Faculty Club!
We were four women friends out to enjoy each other, food and drink. From the very beginning those who greeted, seated, and served us were warm, friendly, attentive and efficient. We loved the food (and the willingness to accommodate those on special diets). The restaurant is attractive with a comfortable layout. Can't wait to get back and try some of the other dishes drinks.
This is the first time I have ever seen "noise level" on a survey and I am very impressed that you have asked. Too many times I have been to restaurants where the food and service are terrific but the noise becomes unbearable and we can't wait to get out! In your survey, I selected "energetic" - which is a good word to describe the noise level. There was a "buzz" but it was not too loud (thankfully!) The food is really superb and the service so professional and friendly. We don't live in Los Angeles, but I am glad to know there is a restaurant we really like that is reliably good.
wonderful spot for business lunch, great variety if you dont know your guest's dietary needs - a wide variety of vegan, vegetarian and full meat lovers. great prices for lunch and lovely attentive service. Now that Paladino is our of biz (darn), this is a very nice go-to.
The kale salad was great. The flatbread was not (too soupy and tepid in temperature). The music was bad pop and they had no ability to change it. Said the corporate office in Florida decides their music and they can't do anything about it. That's what the whole place feels like - a corporate chain trying to come off as a unique wine bar experience.
Used to only go to Napa Valley Grille before Geffen Playhouse events but have begun to have business lunches here, and found it to be a great environment for those events as well. Out-of-town colleagues have loved it, found it to be quite special with California fresh fare and great flavors, while in-town friends and colleagues feel it's a special event locale and appreciate the easy accommodations for vegan and other dietary needs. I also appreciate the valet quality, as I often need to drive up, head in for lunch and get right back on the road for the next meeting, and Napa's setup allows that to work quite well.
We had a wonderful evening at NVG. We took three hungry college freshman boys out for a special evening and we all loved it. Carlos took extremely good care of us, and was a great sport with a good sense of humor. Everyone loved their food (we had scallops, duck, pork chop, all were very good.). The butterscotch bread pudding was absolutely amazing. We devoured one and instantly ordered another. The ambiance was very festive -- a little loud but not too bad. The staff were very accommodating, letting us start early, change tables, etc. Highly recommend this place for a fun, festive dinner.
Somewhat limited menu, but good selection and quality. Not necessarily inexpensive , but reasonably priced considering location . Impressive service, starting from the manager when he noticed my wife putting on her coat and offering us a different table with a warmer atmosphere. I could easily come back for a special occasion , in spite of being a good hour away.
Weve been to Napa Valley Grille several times- the service is always been good and the food has been delicious. This time was particularly delicious and amazing. Somebody in our party had major food allergies and Kenny, the chef, was more than happy to come over to the table and talk to us about the different things he can do to accommodate. He was so nice and the food was so out of this world ---there was no food left on the plates! The hostess was super nice as was our server as well.
