Napa on Providence Ratings and Reviews
We were there for brunch on Saturday afternoon - with a reservation. We were seated quickly, but close to the door and it was very drafty with the door opening. There were many open tables when we arrived, so that was disappointing.
The service was not good - we could barely hear the waitress, we had to ask for things several times, and she didn't offer any help with the menu - I asked her what the chicken and waffles were like, and she said "it's chicken and waffles. That's it." -- Not very helpful. She never brought bread to the table, and we had to ask about the specials before ordering.
Our entrees were good - we both ordered from the brunch menu. The eggs were light and fluffy, and the veggies were very good. I don't usually like potatoes, but they were exceptional!
The coffee was very strong, and we had to keep asking for more milk. We were never offered refills on coffee. I ordered a hot tea (and was charged $4.25 for a tea bag in hot water!!!!!) and had to ask repeatedly for a spoon, cream, and sugar.
It was a special occasion, so we ordered dessert - the blood orange cheesecake was just mediocre. The bananas foster crème brulee was warm, and the custard was curdled. The flavor was good, but it was not a good texture at all.
Order entrees, but don't get dessert and save your money on coffee and tea - perhaps we should have gone for mimosas or cocktails.
We’ve been to Napa on two other occasions which automatically indicates that we like the place. However, this was the first time we were there on a Thursday night and they had live music in the bar area which we found a bit annoying because it made it more difficult to talk, unless you spoke a little louder. I also wish they had more selections for wine by the glass. Other than that, we enjoyed the food
Napa has a great atmosphere and always provides excellent food and service. It can be loud so keep that in mind when making the choice to go. I am never disappointed with anything on their menu. I went for a business meal and everyone enjoyed their selections of cocktails and entrees.
Did a Google search and found this place relatively close to where I live (30 minutes). The menu was interesting and diverse, the service WAS amazing! My only recommendation is to not go too late on a Sunday because they may run out of things (like the Beef Carpaccio or the Seafood special). I will definitely eat there again!
This was my 2nd time at Napa and the food is absolutely amazing. We came for Queens Feast (girls annual tradition) & I had the pork chops w/the kale, quinoa & cous cous and it was so flavorful. The service was not great as he seemed off his game. Forgot to bring drinks, was a little dismissive & forgot to write down an order after he said he wrote it down - it was never his fault. Regardless, he gave us some $$ off and told us to come back and dessert was on him. Very nice gesture and maybe it just wasn't his night. It certainly wouldn't deter us from going back. Overall, the food & company made the night so all was not lost and let's admit, we have all had "an off night".
Disappointed. This was my first time dining at Napa and had high expectations. Unfortunately all the meals in our party of 4 were poor to very mediocre. Napa salad was non descript. Salmon on couscous was salty. Chicken carbonara was bland. Penne pasta was over cooked and I do not know if there was any white sauce on the plate-I could not taste it. Deserts were terrible. The cheese cake tasted like it was bought in bulk from Costco and someone drizzled some sauce on it. Overall food quality was poor and disappointing.
Service was terrible. No recommendation re what was good. Waiter seemed to be pushing us out the door from the moment we sat down. I was still eating my entre when staff were clearing the dishes off of the table.
One and only stall in mens restroom was backed up full of stuff and could not be used. Restaurant should have put an out of order sign on the door.
Overall horrible dining experince. First and last time going to Napa. I told server that this was our first time dining at Napa, server responded I hope it won't be your last. I think the food left on the plates made it obvious how we felt about the restaurant. One of the worst dining experinces I have had in Charlotte. Truly terrible. Avoid.
One positive they have an extensive wine list, maybe should just be a wine bar with finger foods.
We are new to the area and heard about the restaurant from our kids. We thought we would try it out through the Charlotte Restaurant Week. The strawberry butter for starters was quite strange for the winter season, although it’s my daughter’s delight when she’s dined there... I would present it as a summer butter instead of winter with a swirl of berries added.... Also California sourdough bread would complement the butter. My entrée was too salty. My martini drink was overly priced out for the size. The atmosphere could use more of a Napa feel instead of an outdated feel. The best part was our waitress and dessert. The $100 plus was not worth our experience dining there sorry to say.
My husband and I had not been for awhile, so we took advantage of Queen's Feast, to go out on a Sunday night. We both enjoyed our special event entrees. I had the salmon and my husband had the hanger steak. We were both pleased. The appetizers were also good. My husband had the mussels and he soaked up all the tomato cream sauce with the bread. I enjoyed the fried artichoke hearts. Neither of us could finish our desserts. Still a great place.
We made reservations for a 9:15 dinner, thinking that would be a little less busy since it was restaurant week. We’ve been to Napa before on restaurant week and loved it but did have slower service so we figured later might be better. We got there at 9:15 and the hostess said the table “wasn’t quiet ready” - no big deal so we went to the bar. Luckily we found a table near the bar and could sit, because it was an hour before they said the table was ready! We ended up only being able to get apps and wine and the waitress we had was really nice so it wasn’t a complete loss - but definitely bummed we didn’t get to enjoy the restaurant week special as we had planned.
Unfortunately, we picked a Saturday lunch when the restaurant was slammed !! They had two large private parties, plus their normal lunch / brunch crowd. As a result , it took more than one hour to receive our food order !! So, if you go, do not select a nice Saturday lunch time -- or come in after 1:30 pm.
However, the food was very good and the wait staff tried to be attentive to our drink orders and keeping us informed as to timing for our meal.
We will go back. They deserve another chance.
My husband and I took our adult son to dinner at Napa on a Saturday night. Although it was noisy, as they were very busy, the food was excellent. I had the duck, maybe the best I have ever had !! Our son had the pork chop entree, and it was very good also. Service was also excellent. It was very busy in bar area, looks like a great place for younger professionals to meet up. Overall, great experience, and cannot wait to return.
Servers at the bar gave more attention to polishing glasses than to patrons. Not the first time I’ve made this observation and I’ve actually come to expect inattentive service at the bar. The convenient location, atmosphere and food keep me going back but I don’t expect much from the staff. Exception-the women running the hostess stand who were friendly and helpful.
