Let me start with the PROS of Nancetta’s..the food was extremely good. I had the special Pork Chop Milanese; very large portion; my husband had Veal Romano. Both dishes were very tasty, however I substituted Risotto for vegetables(for an up charge)once again very tasty. My husband asked for a side of pasta with his veal dinner and was brought a side of Risotto instead. Really no big deal. Be forewarned - everything is ala carte; $7.00 for an upgrade. To be honest; $107 for veal and pork chop was little steep.
BUT now the CONS - the bad or worst part of evening; it took forever to get our food. We had reservations for 6:45 and were seated immediately; great but was downhill after that. First the place is small, there were about 15 people at 7 tables. We did get the water and menus right away. We ordered an appetizer and salad along with our meal. Our appetizer took 1:10 minutes to come; then it took another 20 minutes to get 1 salad. Our meals took another 35 minutes after the salad. I will say again, the food was very good; but waiting so long was very frustrating. We really wanted dessert, but we’re not willing to wait.
I was very disappointed with the evening; I really wanted to do a great review. There was only one waitress, but honestly I can’t blame her for the bad service. If there isn’t something to serve it isn’t her fault. I will tell my friends that the food is good - but the wait and pricing may not be worth it.
The bread brought to the table was not baked the whole way through. We mentioned it to server, but nothing was done to rectify. The appetizers came in an appropriate amount of time, but the entrées were extremely slow to arrive. We were the first table seated at 5:15. The restaurant started filling up after 6 and our food just wasn't coming. I think the server/bartender was overwhelmed. Only 2 wait staff for a full restaurant.
Our bread is scratch-made from Imported Italian flour at the restaurant every day, It is dense in the middle not uncooked. There were 2 servers plus a server trainee attending to 7 tables. Do you go to an Authentic Italian Restaurant for the Quality of the food or to see how fast you can get your food? Please come back and we will endeavor to please you. Nancettas
Lovely family restaurant with excellent food and warm, helpful service
Excellent food. Emphasis is on excellent ingredients instead of low cost.
Relaxing atmosphere. Service was excellent. Food outstanding.
This was our first time, it will not be the last! Everyone was amazing! It was quiet, dim, comfortable, relaxed. The server Maddie was knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly and attentive. She explained things very well, and if she did not have an answer she said as much - and promptly went and got one. The owners Paul and his wife were so friendly and charming. They each made a point to go to every table and ask how things were. Paul as the head chef made sure to come to our table prior to our ordering main courses to let us know some of the things that makes what they do there special - like bolognese sauce like they do in the old country and that they only use imported Italian flour in all of their homemade pastas and breads. It DOES make such a difference! The menu was very diverse, so many options! Menu items we have not seen in other restaurants. Appetizers, salads, soups, main course and desserts...and a wonderful selection of wines and a full bar! This is a must visit! It was well worth our one-way 40 minute drive!
rtjr Thank you for your review. We are happy that you enjoyed everything and we were able to make your evening special. Nancettas strives to make everyone enjoy the experience with everything being homemade and a personal touch! Thank you again for visiting Nancettas.
This really is one of my favorite places in the city for a great Italian meal. It's located in a great area with parking on site and no congestion around it. The owner and his wife are there all the time and do most of the cooking. The food is exceptionally good and the selection is diverse. It get's one of my highest ratings !
Thank You Glenn for you kind remarks and for coming to Nancettas we greatly appreciate your business and are happy you enjoyed your evening. Nancy/Paul
Awesome. The chef came right to our table explained every meal option. The server was fantastic and at the end of night brought us chocolate cake for our anniversary.
We are sorry for your negative experience. We would of corrected any issue immediately if you had given us notice starting with the Calamari. Your reservation was for 6:30pm and your order went in at 6:55. Your Calamari came out at 7:20pm and your Entree at 7:35pm. You left the restaurant at 8:06pm. Please come back and ask for Paul or Nancy and we will make sure there are no issues.
delicious food, great service, wonderful wine selection
I made an Open Table reservation and the table was ready, and that was the best part of the evening. Although the tables were separated and capacity was limited for Covid, service was exceptionally poor and the waitress was not at all attentative. I ordered the boar, and it was particularly tough. It was a little better after I sent it back for more cooking. The seafood pasta ($55) was dry and appeared to have sat for a while, but I was actually told that I ordered it, and I am paying for it, so I simply took it home for later. I thought that was little rude.
I have no desire to return.
We decided to try this place for Valentine's Day dinner and it was amazing! The hostesses we very attentive and answered all our questions. The food was great and look forward to going back to try their outside patio.
For only the second time during the Pandemic my wife and I headed out for what we hoped would be a wonderful Valentine's dinner away from our kiddos. Unfortunately Nancetta's failed on every level. First, we were seated and then waited 20 solid minutes before a waiter appeared to greet us and provide water for the table, and then inquire about a cocktail. I order a Vodka/soda my wife asked what tequila they had, the response was "we ran out, we don't have any" really? We then waited another 25 minutes to order food, only to be told at that point, the seafood pasta dish, my wife wanted to order was no longer available. Our reservation was at 7:15. The Caesar Salad my wife ordered then appeared with red-wine vinaigrette dressing. My NY strip (ordered medium) came Pgh Black and blue - charcoal exterior and red inside. And when the bill arrived it was on par with the type of Italian bistro you would find in Greenwich Village. As much I want to support small local restaurants, and realize the Pandemic has been horrible for these businesses, our dinner was an absolute disaster.
The food was absolutely delicious! Authentic Italian that even impressed my full-blooded, Italian born husband. We will absolutely 100% be back for another meal and hopefully soon!
Thank you Sharon we appreciate your business and happy you enjoyed your dinner. Look forward to your return.
Excellent food and extremely friendly and attentive staff. We loved that the chef, Paul, came out to speak with us.
Thank you for your review we appreciate your kind comments and your business. Nancettas's strives to make everyone's visit enjoyable. We look forward to serving you in the future. Nancy/Nancettas
Paul and Nancy are awesome. I have been there a few times and they offered personalized service that was outstanding. The food was delicious, well presented and hot. I have taken a few business folks there and every time I have a visitor they ask “can we go to Nanchetta?” Thanks for staying consistent and open for all of us. Very appreciative to have a place to go for a great meal and forget about the insanity of the world!
Thank you Anonymous for your thoughtful review. We try to make everyone's visit special and enjoyable. Please let me know the next time you are in if there is anything we can do for you. Nancy/ Nancettas
I have been to many places and I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants. I will say the food here was even and surpassed many more expensive and exclusive restaurants. The food abs the service was outstanding in every way. I will entertain and host many people here. Thanks for a great experience!

Thank you for visiting Nancettas. We greatly appreciate your review and hope to see you soon. Please let us know what we can do better!! Nancettas .
The food and wine are great, and the owners are really nice and helpful, but it took 45 minutes to get our main course, and we were only one of two tables in the restaurant. The amount of time it took this time was a little better than the last. When it took an hour and 15 minutes to get our main course
Will never come back. They overbooked tables with 1 waitress for entire restaurant. 30 minutes to get drink or even make an order. And waitress had an attitude? That’s funny, waiting 30 minutes for a drink or to make an order? And after making order it was 60 minutes and no food. So we left and they could not care less. Nice.
My choice of veal picata with a side of pasta bolognese was wonderful. Homemade pasta! My wife and I also had very nice salads, and she enjoyed essentially 2 appetizers with gnocchi and pear ravioli. We selected a superb but affordable Italian Red that was a great compliment. Our waitress was very engaged and hospitable, and we will be going back soon with friends. A lovely dinner that was well paced and worthy of trying more menu items on our return.
Nice place. Delicious food. Outside dining is set up very well. Unfortunately, their was an odor about the place that was meandering from somewhere beyond the restaurant that created a less than enjoyable experience. Staff was nice and responsive. Try the beet salad. It was incredibly good.
Food was fabulous. Outdoor seating area was wonderful. Service was great. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent food and accommodating hosts. Outside seating is nice, but the road can be loud.
My wife had a sole special that was small but very good- as were the two salads we had. The calamari while good- was the smallest portion we had ever seen as an appetizer. My veal parmigiana was almost absent of veal. It seemed to fall apart at the approach of my fork...not because it was tender but because there was no veal there! Even my Makers Mark Manhattan was below average.. The veal did not come with a pasta, so I ordered a side dish of pasta Bolognese which was an odd $12 adder I never want to experience again. Ads to that from the time we ordered until the time we received our main course was near 3 hours...we were in no rush but the wait was absurd. We had a similar experience there several years ago but decided, since they had outside dining, we would give them another shot. In this case, 2 strikes and they are out..we will not go back.
It was the best Italian restaurant we’ve been to. Authentic food and the best service ever!
What a gem! I'm so glad we found this restaurant! The food was freshly made and delicious... the gnocchi melts in your mouth! We had the duck with rizzuto, cherry sauce and asparagus as well as the lamb chops, beet salad, gnocchi and lava cake for dessert... it was outstanding! Our host and server was attentive and friendly. We sat on the patio, which was nice although a bit sunny until the sun went down. Overall a great and special evening to celebrate the opening of restaurants during the green phase!!
Great find. Thank you open table as got this location from a search for a business dinner.
This was a cute restaurant with good homemade Italian food. Portions were large and you got a good amount of food for the price. Wine list was good and had a nice range of both wines and price points. We would definitely go back.
We just discovered Nancetta's and plan to return again. The menu is very interesting and all the pasta's are made fresh with many to choose from. They have interesting appetizers and great salads. I loved the ambiance, twinkle lights outside, linen napkins, and small cozy rooms. The owner came to our table to welcome us and offer suggestions of house favorites. All the meals freshly made so be prepared to have a leisurely meal. Nancetta's is a dining experience that is elegant and simple at the same time.
Authentic Italian meal, thoughtfully prepared. Relaxed experience, if you want to truly savor your food and not be rushed, this is your spot. Fabulous food, fresh and artfully prepped ingredients. As close to being in Italy as we’ve found in Pgh. We will be back... with friends
Nancetta's has consistently great food. It's a gem.
I enjoy going to restaurants that prepare a meal for me!!! I am willing to wait for a fresh cooked meal; I don't go to chain restaurants!!!
Great service, terrific specials. Reasonable portions. They don't over do anything, but provide a " just right" portion. A great find on our part.
A neighborhood gem suitable for special occasions, business dinners or just a casual night out. The food is spectacular - all homemade with special touches. Highly recommend that you book it for a special occasion soon!
An early quiet dinner so we had the attention of our waiter and the owner.
First visit to Nancetta and will definitely come back. Food was excellent as was the presentation and the service.
Honestly the best Italian food in Pittsburgh. Cozy atmosphere for cold winter night dining. Definitely try the squash blossoms.
Hands down the best restaurant for food, service and enjoying discussions with the owners. Highly recommend Nancetta's.
Absolutely fabulous food and atmosphere. The gnocchi, ravioli and spaghetti Bolognese was some of the best we’ve ever had.
First time there. Great find. Great menus. We’ll be back.
