Truly delicious and a lovely evening, unfortunate that the restaurant was short-staffed so service quite slow, forgetful (multiple asks, etc. as you might expect on a short-staffed night).
This meal was the highlight of a lovely evening in Alexandria. Service was pleasant and welcoming. The minced lamb seekh kabob was fragrantly flavorful with a nice texture, and a shredded paneer dish (name?) that was new to us was quite good too. The Indian dishes we ordered were well prepared classics with no surprises. Spice levels were generous even if a bit inconsistent across dishes. Though we did not take advantage of it on this occasion, others may find it valuable to know that the menu mentions the ability to accommodate gluten free diets and food allergies -- of course, be sure to contact the restaurant directly to verify this prior to making your plans.
My wife and I came to Alexandria (Old Town specifically), because we just love this place and it was her birthday weekend. I made reservations online through OpenTable and made a request for a little something special, if possible, for my wife's birthday. However, I was informed that somehow the reservations never went through (although I was receiving reminders from OpenTable). No biggie, we were able to get a table without a problem. The food was pretty good. She got the lamb madras and I got the chicken madras. My wife absolutely loves Indian cuisine so I was happy the food lived up to expectations. My only complaint was the service. I snuck off earlier in the dinner and spoke to our server about it being my wife's birthday and if there was anyway something could be done. He says, "I'll see what I can do." That was one of the maybe handful of times we saw our server. We had to flag him down to order dessert and once that was brought out that was the last we saw of him. Someone else gave us the check and I never did find out if there was anything he could do for my wife's birthday. The restaurant wasn't packed but the was a large party there that played a large role in the loud noise level that night. If we're ever in town again and choose to eat there, it'll be takeout.
Buffet choices were numerous but food was not kept hot at all in the chafing dishes. Place just seemed sort of slow and tired. Would not return
Great food and great service. The prices were also very reasonable, especially for the location.
Very authentic Indian food! Loved the dosa masala!
Loved our first visit to Namaste. This is probably our new favorite restaurant. Looking forward to regular visits!!!!
Conveniently located near the King Street station, if you are just passing through Old Town. The owner was extremely friendly and the food was outstanding!
We went for dinner. I have been to the Namaste on Franconia road for the lunch buffet and we are always very pleased with the food and service. The restaurant itself is very attractive, but on a Friday night at 7pm it was pretty empty. The service at this location was confusing. We had multiple servers. We asked one server for recommendations, he simply replied it is all good. So we were on our own. Not being especially familiar with Nepalese/Indian cuisine I got the stand by dish of Chicken Tikka Masala, it was unimpressive. I was with 3 other people they all liked their dishes enough, but not outstanding. The naan bread is not included with the meals so you must pay extra for it. We were given 2 dishes of rice, even though 3 of the dishes were supposed to be served with rice. We all shared a plate of chili momo dumplings as an appetizer with a chicken filling, these were the best part of the meal. The bill was $100 for the 4 of us for 1 appetizer, 4 main dishes and an $8 basket of naan...no drinks or dessert. We felt like it was overpriced for what we got. We may try the Old Town location again for the lunch buffet, but I wouldn't return again for dinner.
The food was wonderful. Shrimp curry was excellent. I enjoyed the food so much, I returned the next night and ordered the Seafood Thali, which was beautifully presented and quite delicious.
The food is delicious and the wait staff is friendly and attentive.
We stopped in for the Sunday buffet and were blown away. Incredible flavors. This is seriously some of the best Indian food we have had in years. The sauces were silky and luxurious. The chutneys were thick and flavorful. Servers were friendly. The restaurant is very clean and bright. Highly recommend. Cannot wait to return and order off the menu.
So good. When they say their vindaloo is hot, believe them. Love it.
Great food, nearly empty (due to polar vortex)... Found it strange that they decided to seat other patrons right next to us (no privacy!)
Was quiet and cold in the restaurant and they didn’t have half the wines or beers on the menu. However the food was excellent.
Food was not seasoned properly... worst was the service. Had to wave arms wildly for service...
Fabulous restaurant. Wonderful people. The manager Jay is terrific.
First, compliments to our server - I didn’t get the name, but she was a very friendly young lady who said she was from Mumbai - for doing a great job with the six people at our table! She had a good sense of humor, accurately took down the many things we ordered, and never made us feel rushed throughout our long dinner!
Many compliments to chef!! The food - all of the dishes - were delicious! We started with Samosas, and Pani-puri, for the apps, and for the main course, had lamb Rohan josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Baingan (eggplant) Bharta, Bhindi (okra), and the Aloo-Gobi (potato-cauliflower) dishes, followed by desserts: Gulab-Jamun, Ras Malai, and Mango lassis. All SUPERB!!
Thanks to the Namaste team for a great experience!!
Absolutely fantastic food and ambience!! The chef personally comes to your table to explain the day's menu and you see him cook all your food only feet away in a completely open concept kitchen/restaurant (no walls - not even glass walls). The setting is sooo much fun and the mediterranean food was delicious!!
Waiter was excellent - recommenced great appetizer and was a great sounding board for main dishes. Gave skepticism when we ordered lots of naan bread which was good because he did not know our love for naan vs rice.
Food was good but not sure got lamb korma that we ordered. If it was then least favorite lamb karma that have had after eating Indian for the last 20 years to include a few years in England.
On a good news, Butter Chicken was awesome - soaked up good naan with the sauce.
The food was so flavorful, beautiful and carefully prepared. The peanut appetizer was one of the biggest surprises-can’t wait for a re-do on that. Everything was wonderful but the peanuts were special
Great food choice. Nepalese and Indian specialties. Vegetarian choices are extremely numerous. Beer, wine and cocktails are expensive but good.
This is one of my favorite Old Town restaurants for the food and ambience.
Three of us went for dinner. Service was attentive, but not annoyingly so. Food was really good, no complaints from any of us. Nice wine list and reasonably priced. I’ll definitely go back.
Food was good. People were nice. Service was ridiculously slow. Place was very unorganized.
Not impressed. The wait staff were not attentive and made mistakes. Lacklustre approach. Food was nasty. I found a sharp chicken bone in my dish which shouldn’t have any bones in it at all. The manager didn’t care. Won’t be going back.
Excellent, authentic Indian food including Tandoori dishes. The service was attentive until the main dishes were served, but we were abandoned thereafter, unable even to order a second drink. I t would like to think that this was an unfortunate aberration, since the food was superb.
